A typical day at work was to arrive 15 minutes early, count float, read memos, and then run a bank deposit if there was one. Then, upon returning it was time to put on your best smile and help customers in finding what they need. When there was a lack of customers staff kept busy by polishing jewelry and restocking merchandise. At the end of my shift, as I usually worked closing shifts, I had to count the float, do up a bank deposit, finish with the task manager, print the necessary papers to send to head office, and shut down everything and lock up for the night.
I learned many interesting facts about gems, how to properly care for precious stones, and how to properly assess customer needs and provide helpful service to them.
Management was professionally handled, and by the book.
Staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, easy to get along with, and willing to help.
The two things that were most difficult about the job was rushing to cover someone elses shift on a day off, as well as closing during the Christmas rush. It was impossible to finish closing within a timely manner when closing by yourself, as there was so much to do, and you'd have customers right up to the last minute.
The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to brighten someone else's day and be able to see them off with a smile. It was easy to build a good reputation with customers, and it always made a slow day easier when you could help a customer and watch their face light up with joy.

Typical day was often on the slower side in terms of customers coming into the store, but there was always something to do whether it be organizing a display, polishing jewellery, or cleaning the glass cases. 

Staff I worked with were really good at supporting each other and helping out when needed. 

Salary was very typical of a retail position. Just above minimum wage if you were management, and exactly minimum wage if you were part time. Unfortunately there was no commission structure; however, bonus were given if the store's target was made and exceeded. This happened rarely though as targets were very high considering the amount of traffic and inflation of prices on a constant basis. 

Head office and upper management were supportive, and available when you needed them. Would have liked to have seen the DM more often than once every 4 or so months, but she was always a call or text away. 

Unfortunately the location in Saskatoon closed indefinitely just before Christmas of 2018.

Vivah was a fun place to work day to day, but the pay wasn't very good, and dealing with head office was a headache.

The Store and District Managers were great, and tried to improve morale and make staff feel like family. The store manager always tried to accommodate schedules, and had a basket of goodies for everyone every Christmas. I would have stayed on longer than a year if the company paid more.

Co-workers were fantastic, customers not terrible, but management was abysmal!!!
Racist, offensive, crude, manipulative, shady, everything that could go wrong with power.  People fired for “not being compatible” were actually just unliked by manager because they refused to be their friend. 
Staff were pitted against each other, head office doesn’t listen and in fact covers up poor management behaviour. 
It’s happened before and it will happen again. Run if you can..

Typical day starts off with setting up the register, and turning on all the lights in the store. Greeting customers is a must, and informing them on the weekly sales going on in the store. We also must ask the customer a minimum of 5 questions to understand what it is they're looking for, and to better help us with finding it within our store. Being able to help a customer find exactly what they were looking for really makes my day.

Great job for students and jewellery enthusiasts; anyone comfortable with customer service looking for a part-time job after classes and on weekends. You get payed minimum wage, which is standard, and your only benefits is getting discounts on your personal jewellery expenses. 
The downside of this job is that you don't get days off during holiday seasons as they are the busiest times for sales, which is a given since it's a jewellery company.

Once my DM went one Mat leave, head office made this company a nightmare to work for. The owner makes terrible business decisions and won't take feedback from store level staff, blaming them when sales drop. The pay is garbage, even for management. My mental health deteriorated and my anxiety levels went through the roof my final year. Nearly 6 years of dedication and loyalty was repaid with betrayal, gas lighting, and threats.

Head office leaves alot to be desired but the people I've personally worked with have been great. Never enjoyed how aggressive H.O. was about getting sales and how they would tear us down if we had under $100 days. I always enjoyed meeting new customers and building great connections with regulars.

Very busy, and fun workplace to interact and learn new things. Team work was never a problem.Hardest and most enjoyable part was to beat a coworkers target as that motivated me to aim for my goal.

I opened the store, did paper work , helped with the schedule. 
managed people managed the store. helped customers and handled money. polished jewellery and general cleaning.closed the store.
