Company wage freeze during covid for an entire year,  no raises for anyone across the board according to the company unless you worked from home with an already bloated salary then you received your yearly increase but not for the staff that had to go into the building everyday exposing themselves to international aircraft when that was a major health concern across the globe at the time

Effort levels of employees are not valued so minimum effort and going above and beyond are compensated the same, the "wage grid" rewards time not effort so do not do anything more then the absolute minimum you are required to do

Constantly receive conflicting instructions from different levels of management and different departments on a single task dependant on who complains last causing work to be done then undone and redone in different ways

Upper management could not care less about what happens day to day as they are NOT in the building to actually see what they are enforcing on people and how little sense there decisions actually make

Day to day department managers and supervisors that are IN THE BUILDING every day are great and do there best to keep you engaged and caring

The work is not difficult by any means you won't be exhausted at the end of the day very manageable pace

Work starts early, but this means you get to leave early which is definitely a pro.
This place teaches you that it takes a while to become very good at the job and that when you do get it you may not get recognized all the time.
Management seems to be out of touch with employees needs and concerns on the floor. There have been inconsistent 'Town Halls' where concerns are brought up and 'politicians' answer is given.
Workplace culture varies, safety is 3/5. Work life balance is not very high and HR feels useless.
Hardest part of the job is burnout. 4, 10 hour days has been shot down in the past and working this job 5 days in a row really wares you down when you try to put in your best.
The best part of the job is the unique aircraft and mods you get to be apart of as well as the immense travelling opportunities you get if you are qualified enough.

Overall, the company has a lot more potential if it treated the floor employees like they bring in the money for the company. Over worked for the pay that's received; which is under average for the Province of Ontario on the Government of Canada website.

The only two some what rewarding aspects of working here is the people you work with and the experience. You are underpaid, not valued or recognized for anything you do and there’s absolutely no room for growth. Upper management will try to con you out of every raise you should receive annually. You are always replaceable and Voyageur is like a revolving door. No one wants to be there and there’s a lack of care which is evident starting from the top. This company is best at doing the bare minimum for its employees and putting out fires instead of being proactive to prevent them. For all the time I spent there, there was never a shred of evidence that they genuinely care about the crew on the floor, always talked down to and treated unfairly. Evidentially no one wants to stay and pursue a career with the company but instead uses it as a stepping stone, hence the endless vacancies and positions to be filled. This is Voyageur’s bread and butter to hire people who need a job in the industry but refuse to pay them enough to stay and keep your employees happy. Lots of work to go around but no one to do it. 

I don't regret what I did overseas even when I affected me down the road with PTSD, I'd do it all over again given the option. I had the best time of my life and truly discovered myself and saw parts of Africa no one else could see unless they were in military service and on a UN mission. What's sad is that the culture of the company back in Canada in no way the same as the one overseas. Head office puts out a fear based authority and they get rid of any employee who doesn't conform or an employee who presents a new idea for an easier way of safer way of doing things. It's truly sad that management isn't promoted from employees who've done overseas service.

Pros : The overseas employees are simply amazing, you'll have a great time on rotation with the staff. Its a fantastic experience! You fly from 2 to 6 days a week depending on the bases you have, rarely long days and no nights! 
Most bases have base managers, so pretty much everything its been taking care of. 

Cons: The management, unfortunately it's an issue. The Vp, DFO, Chief pilot, Fa Manager and Base manger supervisor are the managers of the company. The problem is none of them have any prior experience in aviation. No place for improvement and they have no understanding of the needs on sites. 95% of the issues are brush under the carpet or they find someone else to put the fault on and discipline them. But noting is done to change to fix the problem. It's unfortunate because it could be a top company to work for.

Put that aside, live the overseas life and enjoy the experience!

This review is based on current culture which, ever since being acquired by Chorus Aviation, is improving at a comforting rate.  I would expect reviews to improve over the next year based on initiatives taking place in North Bay. My work challenges me and always keeps me busy.  Working for Voyageur has been a good career choice as I've become better at my craft and see the company using my skills to full potential and beyond, pushing me to learn new abilities and own a task until detailed completion.

I recommend a career with Voyageur Aviation Corp, or any subsidiary company, as the company is showing signs of growth and support from its parent company, Chorus Aviation (also owns Jazz Aviation).  I'm excited to see where this company progresses and am proud to have a good job in the beautiful city of North Bay.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of assistance, or "care" from the "higher ups."
Lack of safe and working equipment to do tasks efficiently.
Health and safety department makes it extremely difficult to do efficient work here. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very casual, however, lack of work and desire to bring in knowledgeable employees (mainly because of below average pay), keeps everyone looking for other jobs

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Non strenuous, casual, light work while hanging out with friends. Typically not enough consisten customers being brought in to keep everyone busy

One of the few places in aviation with a Monday to Friday schedule.  Voyageur is the place to go to gain knowledge of aircraft repair & modification from start to finish.  As a pretty close knit group with small crews, you receive great mentoring and widely varied task exposure to help launch your career in aviation.  If you're up for the challenge, and express interest, there are plenty of opportunities for advancement.

Great place to work and great people.  Variety of work is extraordinary and meaningful.  Diversity is a strength and being integrated with all divisions is a strategic advantage. 

Due to the number of aircrafts being worked on and the questions, I was asked to do a number of different jobs including entering time cards, collection and researching aircraft information, creating forms for maintenance staff to use while inspecting aircrafts as well as typing up company maintenance and policy manual.
