Quick personnel turnover, offering no long term incentives to stay unless you’re “in the club”.

A good company for small projects, copying existing facilities.  Not so good in “one offs” or requiring actual application of Engineering, Good systems in place for keeping track of budgets but not enough time allocated at front end to sufficiently scope out complex jobs . Business development people are too deficient in technical expertise to get into the heart of a Client’s needs but good at buying them dinners or beers to get a job.

Senior Discipline Engineers are expected to train junior employees in Eastern Canada or generate work for them after using the formers’ credentials to get the job. The amount of hours ultimately given a Contractor are insufficient if relying on VTEK as a sole client.

Very few software tools in house with which to perform anything other than simple work. A lot of the tools used have been “lifted” from other companies without proper vetting. As a result, “bate and switch” occurs by farming work out to 3rd party consultants having actual expertise, the higher costs transferred to Clients. 

Somewhat good at “hooking stuff up” if all the information is provided for them, don’t expect VTEK to provide credible Engineering Studies. Many of VTEK’s personnel having Shell backgrounds rely on Shell methods to provide “how-to” guidance using outdated DEP copies.  Difficult for VTEK to transition into work for other Clients, being more like a group of technologists following go-by’s than Engineers schooled in first principles. No time for any of that at VTEK, a “hit the deck running” type of organization often scattering in wrong directions.



As PM, you are fully responsible for project accountability, I also handled business developments and managed several client accounts. Senior Mgmt is OK, good team environment in back office where engineering and technicians work.

Awful company. Please do not work for this company. Management is awful and will stab you in the back. The ceo canno be trusted. Everyone is on edge with layoff on a daily basis.  Very stressful environment.

CEO has no management skills and is a micro manager, bad company culture and no quality structure . No transparency in objectives. Bad office environment.
