I worked as a satellite television technician for this company and let me tell you, the manner in which they treat their technicians is appalling.

First of all this job is paid by piece work, which means the employer is able to get around paying you any overtime or for any breaks for that matter too. You are constantly being bombarded with phone calls from their office on the company supplied cell phone asking whats taking you so long or where you are and what you are doing by people who don't know the first thing about installing satellite cable.

I was expected to work 10 hour days, 4 days a week, however on a regular basis you will be working more like 12 - 13 hours. There are no steady off days, and the company seemed to change my off days whenever they felt like it. You will also not be paid for drive time between calls and will be given an extremely hard time if you try to request it.

You are also monitored excessively, as you will be asked to submit photos of all your work after each call through your cell phone, and must dispatch and close jobs by talking to an automated voice recognition system that will try your patience even when you are in a good mood.

As well, the company does not supply some important tools which are NEEDED to complete the job in a timely manner including a ratchet, drill bits, or a GPS.

Lastly, due to their pay structure I found that on a regular basis I was MAKING LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE during my time there. Altogether, this place was a revolving door when it came to technicians and there is a reason they are constantly looking for new hires.

One of,if not the worst company I have worked for. The back stabbing from the supervisors to dispatch dta at this company.
I had a customer rebook a install due to the length it would have taken to complete. So we agreed that call would be done the following day at an agreed upon earlier time. i phoned in to rebook ,,I was confronted by dispatch with attitude and claims that the talked with h customer and was told they wanted it done today. so I returned to site n hen I want to to the door that customer asked  what I was doing back.i explained that my boss told me you need it in today .the customer was mad he actually asked me to phone them and talked to them in font of me.. needless to say because the customer wanted to rbook this was my fault

Supervisors are good, but anyone higher up than them are just a disappointment, this company will treat you like scum they don’t care about you just that the job gets done no matter what, if you do something dispatch doesn’t like they will make arrangements to your schedule, there is no real life-work balance here in the summer they would load you 8am-9pm if they could, this company will just screw ya find somewhere with more stable job environment.

Company is poorly managed due to disconnect between tech support, dispatch, and technicians. Piecework compensation model encourages shoddy workmanship in order to move onto next call. Inept tech support line often leads to unnecessary and lower paying assignments. Required to drive in any and all weather conditions and company vehicles do not have snow tires.

Job is paid by piece work. The more jobs you do, the more money you make. Easy going work day dealing with customers, office staff and management. Training is provided so I didn't need any experience which was a bonus. Weather could be annoying sometimes but overall I enjoyed the different interactions I made everyday with people.

If you want to make 60k in a year with ok benefits and a cell phone paid for you it's a fine job. But you will work every holiday in the calendar year, and have to deal with petty and immature management on a daily basis. Summers you can expect to work hard for 10-12 hours a day, sometimes 6 days a week. In the winter you will be lucky to work 3 days a week.

I learned most companies don't care about employee health and safety and only care about the bottom line.
My direct manager was really friendly but management as a whole was corrupt. Being an installer for such a large corporation you really see how bad capitalism really is.

Management treat their technicians with no respect. They expect you to work at least 10 hours a day, 5/6 times a week. You are being paid piece job, so you are not getting overtime. Supervisors are unreasonable sometimes, going around to look for small flaws on your installations and let you go back to fixed it even on your dayoff!

I am so glad I am not working there anymore!

Don't work here  not worth the stress.
Only good thing as an employee are company vehicle and benefits. Work out side in all weather no matter the condition. Driving on roads no matter the condition. Only paid for driving if over an hour from home base and only one way.
