Management:
The management heavily controls every aspect of the work environment. Micro management, constant cursing and use of vulgar words, back talking about fellow colleagues, use of different language by individuals from a common culture, 2 individuals control all the variables with has excessive oversight, limiting communication and access to decision-makers. The atmosphere is pretentious,distrustful, constant throwing under the bus with little room for feedback or innovation. This management style makes employees feel undervalued and unappreciated. 

Workplace Culture:
The workplace culture is tense, with frequent turnover especially with SOCC.  The morale is low or non existent. There is little room for growth unless you have personal connections within the company. Instead of teamwork and support, the environment feels competitive, with an emphasis on loyalty over merit. I found it hard to form meaningful connections because of the constant turnover and unrealistic expectations and pressure.

My hardest part of the job was dealing with the toxic work culture, micromanaging, curse filled conversations and high turnover rate. Losing colleagues every week makes it hard to maintain consistency and build trust within teams. This instability adds stress and creates a feeling of being constantly undermined. It was exhausting and demotivating to work here. 

Overall Recommendation:
Based on my experience, I would not recommend working in SOCC to anyone who doesn’t know how to be micromanaged, talk bad about people behind them, curse and more. 



With minimal training and poor leadership, they send you to Pickle Lake where airport management reminds one of a High School locker room, and barely capable staff show up whenever they decide to wake up.  After you start making progress fixing your particular department,  they suddenly expect you to single handedly save the entire operation.  When frustrations mount and upper management support becomes non existent, their solution is to lay off and try again.  Expect constant turnover with your staff and eventually yourself.      

I worked at Wasaya for four years and learned many new trades, skills, and knowledge of airline industry. Started to obtain experience and got re hired after contract continued working until the company had financial issues and unfortunately needed to lay me and others off. I did Pilot Pay, Pilot Scheduling, Training records, uniforms and construction/upkeep of transport canada manuals.

Fake, pretentious, stressful and disrespect from management 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Crying daily and chronic panic attacks

I always looked forward to starting the 12 hour shift every day for the two weeks I was on tour.  Always busy as we were short handed manpower wise.  My crew and the rest of the team were excellent to work with.  The food was excellent also.  Extreme weather though...and bugs.

The Management is very toxic and bias. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to work here unless you gave no other option. Specially in Operations micromanaging is worst as Supervisor doesn’t know how to do basic job. Operations department lost 6 long term employees in last 4 months which days it all.

A good place to work because of the staff in Pickle Lake.  Always great people, and the management took care of the staff well.  Very informative place to work and you meet a unique blend of characters from all over the country.

I quite enjoyed working at Wasaya, The job was straight forward. After a while the place started to feel like home and the coworkers like family. One of the best jobs i've had.

awesome place to work as one flight a day is sufficiently services the community. meet and greet new people and assist with boarding and deplaning of passengers and cargo.
