A typical day on the job start at 8:00am where we add devotion and safety meeting .After which the team member receive there job tickets to start there daily job .However some team members as specific daily checks on equipment assign to them before they move on to there assign job.Everyday i learn something new about equipments failure and the root cause of it failing and the removal and repair and re installation of that equipment.Management always stress the important of efficiency and productivity but also no job is so important that it cannot be dun safely.My coworker are the best, we work as a team and every one cover for the other, for example when a team member finishes is task he would join is fellow team member in completing is or her job. The hardest part of my job is taking out a fail piece of equipment an there is no replacement.The most enjoyable is the pulling apart a piece of equipment finding what cause it to fail and repairing it and reinstalling it an watch it running is very much enjoyable .

Management was awful to me. I was yelled at and scolded in front of others even thought it was my serving partner who made the mistake. It made me want to get up and leave in the middle of my shift. 

I got really sick while working here, I ended up in the ER because it got so bad. I kept calling in sick for a weekend of shifts. When I went back I was treated unfairly because they thought I was faking it and just trying to get out of my shifts.

I was consistently kept past the time outlined in my availability. I was forced to feel guilty if I didn’t keep working longer. I was compared to other staff members in this way. Inconsiderate for life outside the job. 

All of this added up made me dread going to work. It got to the point where I was stressed all day for a shift starting at 5. I eventually had to quit for mental health reasons and didn’t want to go back for even one more shift.

I did meet some great people here despite all the above. The events I worked at were beautiful and well planned.

The service express department is responsible for any internal or external calls that are received within the hotel. As an attendant it is my job to provide outstanding customer service to our guest by anticipating and exceeding their expectations.

The duties as an Attendant are:

In-room Dining
Luggage handling
Bus tours
Package deliveries
Concierge type work
Guest request
Bellman duties

The service express department is very team orientated and it takes excellent communication and problem solving skills to ensure that the guest feel valued and appreciated. Preparation and organization is crucial to make sure that the daily operations run smooth.

Being in this company for almost two years now I have become more confident and developed strong leadership skills, understanding what it takes to work in a high paced atmosphere and delivering positive connections with our guest.

On the positive side, the hotel is unionized, which means job security, structured pay, and benefits are in place. This can be reassuring compared to non-union workplaces, as policies are more standardized and consistent. The hotel itself is well known in Halifax, so having it on your resume adds credibility in the hospitality field.

However, being a union-based workplace also comes with challenges. Advancement can feel limited since promotions are often based on seniority rather than performance. Scheduling and shift preferences may also be influenced more by seniority than flexibility, which can make it tough for newer employees. Communication between management and staff can sometimes feel slow due to union procedures.

Overall, it’s a steady place to work if you value security and benefits, but it may not be the best environment if you’re looking for quick growth or more flexibility.

Promises never pan out and the managing staff only uses it's employees to benefit their gain. Ownership does not treat employees with respect and are always making things more difficult for staff. Good managers have been ousted for people that don't have a problem letting everybody else do the work. 
This place was a great place to work but now is a very poisonous atmosphere that does not have any chance for advancement and do not treat your time with respect. There is very little knowledge on how to make things work well internally and externally.
Know going in that this will be a very difficult situation to work in.

It has gone from being an amazing place to work to being any worker's nightmare. Extremely toxic, zero appreciation, wrong people put in wrong positions with no experience or knowledge, upper management is filled with backstabbing snakes that take credit for everyone else's job to make themselves look good. The owner does not allow people with actual knowledge of hospitality do their jobs, extremely micromanaged and unrealistic demands/expectations. Everyone is terrified of being fired. Selling a lie to customers and allowing the staff to be yelled at for not fulfilling the advertised "luxury experience". Everything is a big lie. Zero work-life balance. The renovations done by new owner are beautiful but there is only so much the façade will do for the business.

I worked at this resort for only a few months and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Much of the staff was gossipy and cliquey. 

I appreciated that the ladies in HR tried very hard to make the hotel a fun and inclusive place to work.  But all of the employee events that I attended were awkward. No one really chatted with anyone outside of their department and there was no push for interdepartmental coordination at all. 

Everyone was nice to me, but if you get on someone's bad side, you'll be gossiped about every time you leave the room. 

Also, it was the most boring job I have ever had. I started in the off-season and had a few shifts where there was 0 guest interaction whatsoever. There's only so much you can clean before it becomes redundant. And, believe me, I cleaned. Before I came, it was as if no one had cleaned the back room for months.

At retirement, company name was Siemens Westinghouse, then after two years the name was changed to Siemens Canada Inc. During 40 years of employment I steadily progressed from initially being a Draftsperson, to Manager, Information Technology Services, so the overall learning experience was excellent. My supervisors, managers and co-workers throughout the years were all a pleasure to work with. Several years ago, the Steam and Gas Turbine Division of  Siemens Canada were relocated to manufacturing and service locations in the United States.

The company bids for contracts and sells solutions that they have no experience implementing. Projects are poorly managed. The subject matter experts fail on implementation causing cascading failures to provide clients with desired project goals. Clients end up paying double or triple the original expected costs because they already committed a significant amount of money into the project already and have no other option than to agree to pay more. The company culture does not recognize the extra hours you put in. There is no training. Management leadership is poor and unfriendly.

I have too agree with all the negative reviews on BMGR. Management is poor. Head of HR (now the GM) didn't know labour laws and was not in touch with workers. 
You can tell when a group has a problem with you. No pats on the back for a good job. Work there and show that you are good worker but they will not advance you. It seem that the people there started from the bottom and worked there way up and now try their hardest keep the new workers down. 
No communication between departments. When there is its dropped at the door. Other resorts will out a staff member ordering . Even know you are in fact a paying costumer.
