WFCU Centre

Working for Ovation Food Services at the WFCU Centre, I was a food runner and a dishwasher. I worked in the main kitchen on the concourse. Chefs were in charge of preparing all menu food for the concourse's restaurant, as well as catering food for the lower lounge. The kitchen was massive, I was in charge of prepared food to both the restaurant and the lounge. When things slow down, I had to help maintain the kitchen's cleanliness; wiping counters, sweeping and mopping floors, etc. I was also trained as a dishwasher, and when things weren't very busy, i'd assist the dishwasher on duty, making sure we had enough clean dishes for the line. I had some very good co-workers and some opposite. The job in the kitchen was very fast paced, constant movement and also very hectic, with very frequent disputes. This became troublesome several times, the chaos in the kitchen was definitely my least enjoyed part of the job. The best part of the job was the free food, I was given whatever I wanted in the kitchen every shift I worked.

A typical day at work would include me signing in, seating and serving customers while the game was in progress. I was also responsible for in-seat service where I'd go into the arena and serve customers in there too. management was nice, but in my opinion, pretty unorganized. I loved my co workers there. hardest part of the job I'd have to say would be how dead it was most of the time since I enjoy when things pick up and I don't have time to stare at the clock. Most enjoyable part was making my customers laugh and have a good time whilst I served them.

Had to make sure all food met the standard food policy, meaning heat temps, how long they last, and fully cooked. 

Hardest part about the job was making sure we didn't lose money, no throwing away foods, and making sure no customers bring back any food such as: under-cooked, over-cooked, taste, etc. 

Most enjoyable, was the people I worked with, even though it was fast paced and always busy we always helped eachother and made the nights go smoothly.

The management was very pleasant as were the workers. I learned to count stock, run a cashier, and work quickly and efficiently. It was difficult to adapt to the fast paced work at first but it was easy once I caught on. It was enjoyable interacting with people and ensuring their needs were satisfied.

Go in prepare anything we need for the day, such as silverware, creamers, milkettes, kcups, and napkins. Serve guests with a smile and ensure everyone leaves happy. I learned how to balance cash and ensure you watch your tables and check and how to keep everything neat and organized.

It was fun helping out with kids. You spend a lot of time walking and running around. You are always moving around as a counsellor. I learned how to do time management and talk to kids better.

I was quite young when I volunteered at the WFCU centre, but from what I can recall it was incredibly busy; I worked behind the registers and helped prepare food.  It was alright.

amazing care for all employees and everyone took the utmost care in what they did. As well everyone was able to provide a great workplace vibe as everyone was open to working as a team.

Was a great job loved it but the dumb people that they hired with me didnt know how to cook food and almost got ppl sick then fired us all and paid more for grill masters

overall the pay is normal but the hours are all over the place 3 hours 4 hours no breaks part time the job can be fast paced at times and really slow other times
