WHAT A BAGEL

I was a hostess for what a bagel for a little over half a year. Time management and getting the shifts I desired came easy. I was able to go home by 3pm everyday. However this was one, if not the only benefit of this job. I was highly overworked being a food runner, busgirl, hostess, waitress all in one shift. Most employees were severely overworked. The manager being super unprofessional screaming at me at inappropriate times as well as trauma dumping me about her life stories and making fun of customers, as well as not being paid appropriately for holiday's and sometimes being paid late. Overall the job was fine when I got to interact with customers! I also enjoyed some of my coworkers! The owner of the place however was a bit rude as well! How ever I enjoyed most of the employees that worked there even if they did not work directly in the restaurant. 

The job can be laid back at times, the phrase quality over quantity is definitely applicable at What a Bagel. Good customer service is emphasized, and a typical shift can consist of taking and keeping track of orders, freezer work, cater organization, and rotating the produce.

The owner and manager were completely unprofessional and unpleasant. Scheduling was completely random with less than a day's notice. The training was poor, the staff was overworked and the managers were rude. They cut corners on ingredients, expected staff to mislead customers, and were generally all about the money. And then they complained that staff are lazy and don't stick around.

Because my first job was working at What A Bagel, I gained a lot of new experiences and knowledge in several categories that could be very useful in my future careers. The very friendly environment is the first thing I noticed when I walked into the store on my first day to start the job. My employees were very nice towards me as well as the management and I really enjoyed working as the cashier there.

I used to work for the Ajax location, a d despite my own shortcomings as a worker, this company was amazing to work for. They really treat you like family if you are part of the team. They provide more than ample training to set you up for success, and the owner makes a point of making you feel comfortable and valued.

What A Bagel is a great place to work and shop. They offer a variety of bagels, baked goods and breakfast dine-in meals. Bakery shifts start early in the morning and is labour intensive. A typical day goes by quick when surrounded with great people and management who foster a positive culture.

Working at what a bagel was a great experience. Typical day was coming in, checking in and starting to work and greet the customers. I learned how to deal with customers and how to serve them the food. The customers there are respectful but can get a little bit mean. the most enjoyable part was seeing the customers faces when the food had arrived.

Knew the owner, got the job on the spot. But working there was a nightmare to say the least. Employees were more than nice and welcoming. Structure and organization was lacking big time. Health code violations were not met up to par. Pay was decent but expect to work long hours without a break.

Fast paced enviornment. Coworkers become your family. Everyone cares about you succeeding in your career and in life. Sometimes the workload can be stressful, but the sheer attitude that your coworkers have, make the day go by fast and feel effortless.

Very friendly employees and very nice customers on my day to day basis I would clean the tables make coffee clean all plates and place the dough into the machine that forms the dough into bagels. The most hardest part of the job was carrying multiple plates and cups at once to the back so they could be cleaned.
