WINNIPEG FOLK FESTIVAL

They have a simple online application process where you pick which crew you would like to be in. They get back to you within 2 weeks and will let you know if you have attained the crew position or give you other available options to choose from. You receive preference are a returning volunteer 
Volunteers who choose to camp for the duration of the festival (5-6 days) get a discounted camping pass and receive free meals for the duration of the festival *meals not supplied by festival vendors but by another volunteer crew
The shift lengths and start times will vary depending on the crew but will rarely exceed 5 hours per shift unless crew description states otherwise.
Overall it is the most unique, positive and friendly work experience you will ever have!

This is my first time to volunteer for one festival in Canada. And I can say that it was so excited. Winnipeg Folk Festival (WFF) brought much cultural information to me and a chance to connect with other people in other countries.

 I could learn more the Canadian culture, music, cuisine through WFF. I have plan to volunteer for next year.

i learned some new things and got to meet some of the performers while volunteering at the folk festival. i got a free backstage pass which includes 3 meals a day and hospitality during the festival and it was definitely worth it. the volunteering was fun and i would recommend it to anyone who loves music.

absolutely great team with every facet of the time spent at the festival, working or not being a ton of fun. each person I've ever worked with has been kind and helpful.,

I do volunteer work... But you're paid in festival benefits like all volunteers, and loads of training opportunities. Volunteering there is absolutely lovely - Employee moral is great, and the training is in depth so you're prepared for your position. Lots of fun.

The festival has grown so much it's lost its lustre. 

They don't encourage harm reduction practices even though people use substances at their festival.

They allow abusive people on their staff. 

Interesting and rewarding work experience, great atmosphere. The festival is an integral part of the cultural life of Winnipeg, attracting people from all over North America. Has a great reputation for developing local talent.

poor management skills, a poor information system for the returning volunteers. I was not able to go back to the festival because the teams were full already, even though I went for the meetings and sign up events.

Have volunteered for years and enjoy it more and more each time. Management is great its all one big family. Very collaborative and friendly work environment.

In-charged in maintaining the safety of  the guests/people

and stacking boxes and other duties assigned.
