I didn't particularly find this job "hard", but I found that the management gave hardly any direction on how to properly count. Sometimes you'd be counting clothing stores (count every item) or department/grocery and count in multi-quantities. I was only trained on clothing stores, so I literally had to teach myself how to count grocery because I got a 5 minute run down at the beginning of my shift, and was left to myself for the rest of it. The hours are incredibly unreliable, I counted a lingerie store for 11 hours one weekend, and then counted the same store (different location) in 6 hours. You NEVER know how long your shift will last, and if you take the company vehicle, you could be stuck there after the count is finished, until the manager is done all his/her computer/paperwork. There have been situations where I am scheduled during times I am unavailable, or scheduled far away when I have requested to not be scheduled past a certain time (i.e. requested to leave at 1pm to get to an appointment/class at 2pm, and they schedule you an hour away from home so not only do you have to leave the shift even earlier to make it back home in time, but you have to drive yourself and not in the company vehicle, because if the count lasts longer than your availability says, you have to miss the appointment/class....so drive an hour both ways to work 5 hours? I feel that is just not worth it.) I have gone weeks without being scheduled, sometimes even longer than that. If you don't mind not having a steady income, then this might not bother you, but as a busy student, a steady income is incredibly important to me. To make matters worse, occasionally you'll have weeks that are so jam packed with shifts, you can't even manage your life outside work. I had a heavy class last year that required me to attend meetings outside of class time, and I was sleep deprived for weeks because I would work 7am-1pm, class from 2-5 and then have group meetings until 9pm, and then do the whole thing again all week + doing homework and studying. I really liked the office manager when I worked there, despite the scheduling issues, he was always quick to respond to my questions, and never had a problem with me leaving early for class or appointments. I would not recommend this job to anyone, but if you insist on working there, just know your schedule will vary incredibly, and you'll be working with people that have no desire to help you so if you have questions you'll be wandering around looking for a manager that may or may not be nice when you ask for help.

I was looking for a part-time job to supplement my 9-to-5 to earn some extra money to pursue some of my outdoor passions. The ad which regaled the masses of tales of flexible working hours while working other jobs seemed very promising - just what I was looking for. Fooled me once, but not again! First let me say that the "interview" is in all actuality a free, unpaid training session of about 6 people. They tell you about the company and the job, train you on how to use the scanning guns, teach you inventory and scanning techniques, and at the end of the session ask if you want the job or not. Can't really get paid for training if you're not an employee yet, right? Training before the hire - that's where they get you. And when you actually get to work your first shifts, everybody is too busy trying to keep their numbers up that they don't take the time to help out the new people on the floor. Working for minimum wage, the shifts are not even worth showing up for. The first couple of shifts vary between 2 to 3 hours. So when you take into account transportation costs (gas, tolls, parking, etc.), it's actually costing you money to work for this company. Totally not worth your time! Now back to the flexible hours part. I was told to indicate my hours on the application form - fair enough. However, when you log into their online system they present you with a variety of shifts even on the days you clearly indicated to them as unavailable. So I asked the supervisor/manager on my shift what to do and she says you only need to mark as confirmed online the jobs that you can attend and not to worry about the ones you can't make. No sweat, I can only make 2 of the 5 shifts they have given me online and I mark them as confirmed and such. The next thing I know, the area manager emails me telling me I have missed my shifts, I am ruining the reputation of WIS International, I have to be a team player if I want to continue to work here, etc. Listen Mr. Area Manager, your bullying tactics  don't work on me! Being gainfully employed full-time elsewhere and more educated than 99.9% of your staff, I am not at all intimidated by you. It may work on others who need this job, but not me. Suffice to say, I told that area manager where to stick it. The job itself is easy albeit boring and repetitive. Sometimes you'll have to climb sketchy ladders to reach stock in the warehouses. If you absolutely need the job and can put up with the managers here, go right at it. Otherwise, you are totally better than this job!

If you prefer to see a rapid change, challenging tasks or dynamic work, I say you hardly find these at WIS. WIS instead is a steady, smooth but sometimes physically challenging job which includes inventory counting everything from a small pen at a dollar store to huge equipment at an hardware store. The job is monotonous and if one prefer for a static job, WIS is for you. On a regular day for instance your shift starts at a huge dollar store, you practically start counting every aisle in order and you are not interrupted by your colleagues because you are all in an Olympic race of counting the most of the inventory/stock which is based on a CPH (count per hour) system. CPH system gives hourly inventory targets, if you perform well, your rank will be the most dominant and at the end of the day you may get some good compliments from your colleagues, managers and also you can get elected as the best employee if you perform strongly without making counting errors. People at WIS are very friendly and most of the managers have had worked with WIS for very long time and they respect the work culture and employees. The overall job experience is 3.25/5. Depending on what store you take to count inventory, you sometimes need to strain yourself physically by lifting boxes, weights and what not, you might end up lifting a bicycle at a walmart for inventory counting too. Shift times are not at all predictable, sometimes you might work for straight 8 hours or sometimes you might work as early as an hour. One must travel to the desired store for inventory counting and you might travel a distance ranging from anything on a scale of 0 - 200 Kms, don't worry the company has got some well maintained cars and good drivers who don't risk your life at any cost.

The hours are very random but they do warn you of that. 
They are very disorganized especially management. They did not give me a uniform and i got in trouble for it on one of the bigger jobs. The pay is very low and u dont get ur paycheck right away not on payday you have to wait till your next job so sometimes you'll be waiting an additional two weeks for it.

Again management is very disorganized the co workers that are there are very rude and not helpful they're the ones that will train you and dont even do a good enough job at that. 
There are no set hours for this job you leave very early or later in the evening so it gives you no room to have a life. They're supposed to honor you having a second job or other commitments but they dont they'll jusy fire you if you leave them short staffed even if you give notice.
the scheduling is a mess sometimes they won't even give you 24 hours notice for a job so if you dont check it online and miss it they will fire you.

Overall its a really bad place to work. They say your meals and travel are paid for but NOPE IT IS NOT PAID FOR i worked a 7 hour day and travel shouldve been 4 hours plus your supposed to get 21 dollars a day for meals that wasn't on my check either.

Also you only get one break if they day ends up being 12 hours long youll only get lunch break and thats it.
I strongly suggest looking for other work anything is better than tbis company

But i got fired for having other commitments and i gave like 5 days notice so again they're supposed to honor that and they don't.

I had recently worked with WIS in 2011 and was then dismissed from work due after an argument with the supervisor at the time. Come 2014, I would re-apply and be contacted. 
Let me explain the situation in 2011. The company had lost it's Kamloopa Area Manager and I believe the Area Manager from Kelowna was filling in while new management was found. With the management issues and the supervisor constantly breathing down my neck because he thought I would be counting faster, I told him to politely back off as I was doing the best I could. Needless to say I was let go that day.
Now that isn't what my complaint is about. I know I stepped a line by standing my ground against someone with higher authority; my complaint stands with the interview I attended this year on January 11th. 
I came to the interview well dressed and ready to answer any and all questions the supervisor may have for an ex-employee. I answered them and the conversation went smoothly. However, at the end of the interview (about 15 minutes later), he told me he had heard about my poor reliability. Now thinking back to 2011 I could not recall any time I wasn't at work and the few days I came in late were excused because my reasons were solid. The interviewer told me had he known this before he would not have scheduled an interview.
Of course, I had taken my time getting ready for it, I planned my day out around this interview and it was all for nothing. What I was hearing was "I knew I wasn't going to hire you from the get-go."
So why not call me before hand and tell me such? I have a life. I have bills to pay and to have my time wasted in such a way was insulting. Rather than call before hand and cancel the interview, he went on with it, wasting his and (more importantly) my time. Time I could have used seeking a job where the interviewer was interested in what I had to offer.

I started off needing a job and liked the opportunity to travel and visit other areas of the country, but then after so much time I realized I was never really getting anywhere. Wage starts off as minimum with semi-annual raises of 15-30 cents so there's no incentive for pay. Company works on a CPH system which is how much you can count per hour. Management works on RPH system which is how much money the company makes per hour off of the employees. Because of this influx inventories are rushed so the employee works less hours and the RPH for the company goes up. This hurts all businesses because inventories are not accurate, management has a who cares/let's just get out of here attitude. Management pushes you to guess quantities of products and will schedule you less if you are slower trying to provide accuracy. For AQ1 I was told by my management to scan the same product consistently instead of each and every one like the store manager's wanted. Most shifts are incredibly early in the morning and only last 3 hours. Most weeks you work 20 hours. Travel for job locations less than 48 minutes away is never paid. Most days you have to fight for a break as breaks hurt the RPH. I was asked by my manager to use a rolling ladder with broken wheels that clearly had a sign on it that said Do Not Use and he said don't worry about it, it's safe and you don't have to roll it. Minutes cut off of every shift without warning or explanation.

I cannot express enough how terrible my experience was with this company. It was, without a doubt, one of the worst places I have ever worked.

From the start, the management was unprofessional, and the working conditions were incredibly hostile. Despite fulfilling all of my job responsibilities, I was consistently undermined, given no support, and expected to work under unreasonable conditions.

When I needed to take time off due to legitimate personal reasons, the management was completely unsympathetic, and instead of understanding, I was met with harsh judgment. For example, when I requested time off for a family emergency, I was met with a dismissive attitude and even threatened with termination. This was a major red flag, as they clearly do not value their employees or their well-being.

There is a clear lack of communication, respect, and empathy in this workplace. Management doesn’t provide any constructive feedback, and instead, they create an environment where you are constantly walking on eggshells, wondering if the next mistake will cost you your job.

It’s clear that employees are treated as expendable resources, and any genuine concern or request for support is dismissed without a second thought.

I highly advise anyone considering this company to look elsewhere. No job is worth the emotional and mental toll this place will take on you.

There is no typical day at work with WIS.  One day you are counting car parts, the next groceries, the next clothing.  Whatever the clients sell, we count!
The work is generally easy.  Patience is a plus. Training is done on the job.
It is a physical job, so be willing to bend and/or climb stools.  Reaching and light lifting is required.  It's a great way to stay limber!
The hardest part of the job is that the hours are unusual. There is no scheduled end to the shift--it is over when the counting is done. Often working around retail hours, there can be early mornings and late nights.  On the bright side, you are usually done work early in the day.  Management is flexible with scheduling. There is seldom any down time so your shift goes by very quickly most of the time.
There is some travel (and opportunity for more if you are interested in joining the teams that are on the road).  A company vehicle is used for out of town counts so you don't need your own transportation unless it is local.
The team you work with changes so you get to work with different people from day to day.  
If you are motivated and eager to work, hours are available most of the year.  There are a couple slow periods in the year, depending on the office you work from.
Reviews are done regularly and guidelines are clear regarding raises.  Uniform is comfortable and inexpensive.

Working at WIS internation was honestly quite fun. I actually enjoyed counting all the products and working in a fast-paced competitive environment. Working at different locations every day was very enjoyable, as I got to travel around the city and visit places I had never been to before. It added a lot of variety to my day-to-day, and I appreciated that. The problem for me was not getting breaks. I asked multiple times for my 10-minute smoke breaks, and was never given any. They also refused to give any lunch breaks for 5-hour shifts, throughout my 4 months working with them. Working for 5 hours straight without a single minute of rest was quite tiring, especially bending up and down and squatting a quarter of the time. 

The management was also hit or miss. I became friends with some of the supervisors, but others would micromanage to death. Even though I was completely fine working for my entire shift with no guidance, they would still tell me to do exactly what I was planning to do every 10-15 minutes (ex: After you're done this shelf,do the one right besides it. DUH).

The van trips to whistler were also fun, as I didn't have a car at the time, it was my first time actually going up there.

Overall, I enjoyed working with WIS, but would never recommend it to a friend.

The management team is professional and supportive. They provide clear instructions, ensure everyone understands their role, and are always available to answer questions. They also recognize hard work and dedication, making employees feel valued. Scheduling is well-organized, and managers accommodate availability as much as possible.

The workplace culture is positive and team-oriented. There is a strong sense of camaraderie among coworkers, and teamwork is essential for completing inventory counts efficiently. Everyone is respectful and helpful, making it an enjoyable environment to work in.

One of the challenges is adjusting to varying work schedules, as shifts depend on store locations and client needs. Some days require early mornings or late nights, but the flexibility makes it manageable.

The best part of the job is the team atmosphere and the sense of accomplishment after completing inventory counts accurately. Traveling to different locations keeps the work interesting, and there is always something new to learn. Additionally, the flexible scheduling is a great advantage for those looking for part-time or supplemental income.

Overall, WIS International is a great company to work for, offering valuable experience, a supportive team, and a positive work environment.
