Get the feeling that the agency is understaffed, underpaid, and management think that “thank you” pays for bills. No room for adv, staff (especially new hires) leave as soon as they can secure another job at a better agency, facilities are... more or less disgusting. Their kitchen is roach infested but continue to serve food to their own staff, seniors, children, parents... And the Director justifies poor wages by enforcing that the work culture should be “giving”. It’s hard to give when you can barely survive the wages, on top of which is barely worth getting attacked verbally and physically by clients and walking into bedbug infested client’s homes -COMPLETELY BARE without any insect protection whatsoever. Either management is aware and can’t do anything about it, or they are and just too lazy to do anything right. 

Staff moral is so low you can see the awkwardness at staff meetings and events.

The manager of Children’s Services is very hard to work with. They expect five activities a day, every day, and if they’re not exactly what they want, you’ll hear about it, usually in a harsh or condescending way. When I asked for help or ideas, the answer was usually something like, “I don’t know, I just do.” Basically, everything has to be done their way, no discussion.

There’s been a huge turnover in this role the ED even told me this in the interview, 4 or 5 people in the last two years. One person even got into an argument with the manager and quit on the spot.

If you care about your mental health or want a supportive work environment, this is not it. 

They need a new manager of children services, or this will continue to happen to every person in this role. This is extremely sad for the children in the program to see so many workers come and go. 

The mission of the organization is admirable, but my experience was challenging. Over time, responsibilities expanded significantly beyond the original role, creating a workload that became difficult to sustain. Expectations and reporting requirements increased while role boundaries became less clear. The most rewarding part was serving the community and working with dedicated frontline staff. Prospective employees should ensure they have a clear written understanding of duties, workload, and reporting expectations before accepting a position.

This center seems to find it difficult to keep staff. Some positions such as the Seniors  Social Recreation Coordinator position and Children's Program Coordinator position are being constantly rehired within a few months. Support for and morale of employees isnt't at the level it should be. Management are simply ignoring their frontline staff.  Rate of pay doesn't match responsibilities and workload. A pay increase and support is definitely required to retain staff. Rethinking strategies is direly needed at this center or the turnover rate will continue to spiral. 

working at warden wood community was an excellent rewarding experience, however thing changes when certain management it became nepotism environment the ED also make the work place a challenging and take it are leave, situation until the the centre became a ghost town until the most experience employees left and all the programs, that was created the clients isn’t taking part anymore because of negative people are now hearing about this one vital community centre, the word is changing and this centre was left behind 

Schedule transport for Seniors; Medical, Shopping and programme appointments..

I learned nothing.

Management is wanting.

Co-workers are committed and truly wonderful.

Hardest part of the job... Seriously I scheduled two small buses.

The most enjoyable part of the job? Community events were often a highlight at Warden Woods, Always a pleasure to see the community at play rather than coping with the violence that has troubled this neighbourhood.

the experience was great had a great summer. we would play games have small prizes for the kids. we all enjoyed the outdoor activities. 
management was great has to be when we are working with kids safety matters most. the hardest part i would say is when a few kids were having bad days but its part of the job. i enjoyed being around the kids they always put a smile on my face

Learned new skills in a supportive, diverse, inclusive environment. Management is affirming and grateful for efforts. Rounding up information was often difficult due to busy schedules. Colleagues helpful and supportive. Allowed me to give back in support for  other staff experiencing difficulties.

Very unprofessional. Managers and directors always jump ship after creating a mess. Union is a joke, they won't help. Overall very toxic environment. No chance for growth. Contracts are fake, you won't be doing the things it states. Management is incompetent. Save yourself the time and confusion because they will not treat you with care and respect.
