The job overall isn’t bad if you want something stress free and easy. That being said you also are getting paid minimum wage unless you are in a manager position. Unless you are a diehard fan of their clothes the discount doesn’t make up for much. There’s not much room for advancement in pay or position, with the higher up positions being held by people that have had that position for many years. Pay increases generally aren’t given depending on length of employment, only if you move up in position or if minimum wage happens to go up. If you do choose to work here you will have to get them to take an excessive amount of extra money taken off for taxes just so you will not owe anything. Multiple people including myself that work for them end up owing, even after we’ve already had them take extra off of every cheque. They do not take even the minimum tax percent off your pay. In store management that I experienced was good, higher up management like district managers can be hit and miss. You either get someone that cares about you or someone that does not. No in between. Definitely NOT a full time job, even if you have a “full time” position you are not getting 40 hours a week. Unless you have another job you cannot support your life off of this job alone. Employment here is ideal for anyone looking for part time only. Hours vary every week as well, you usually will not have the same hours every week. The till can be extremely confusing, they don’t have their system set up to properly accommodate some transactions, you will end up doing math and cut around processes just to do a return. Adding to this, they do not give you clear instruction on who to call during certain situations, or back up options if someone isn’t available. If you end up contacting the wrong person, even just sending an email to the wrong department or store you will get scolded. There are a lot of times where you will not get an answer and have to figure problems out for yourself. You listen to the same annoying songs all day everyday. Rarely do they drop a song or add a new one to the mix. You can be listening to the same thing for a year. Higher up management can have impossible high expectations for a lower volume store, resulting in more discipline than praise. There is too many expectations for you, and goals you have to meet, to be getting little to no reward for it.

To prepare for this job is grueling. About 24 hours of reading which most of it is forgotten within the first day of working. 

The staff was fun, friendly, and energetic people. Loved everyone I worked with. The managers were a different story. At my story we had 3 managers and all 3 had different plans for the store. 

I'd be told by one manager to fold clothes but the 2nd manager would tell me to deal with customers, the 1st would come back and complain I wasn't folding clothes. The 3rd would ask me to clean then the 1st would come back and give me trouble for not folding clothes. The 2nd would ask why I'm not dealing with customers.

When I was cleaning or folding clothes I was told to IGNORE customers that approached me and tell them (politely) to find another staff member.

It gave me a headache just working there. 

They'd also force help on customers. I had plenty of customers tell me that they were fine and did not want help but the managers would then get mad at staff for not helping the customer.

I felt like the managers were toying with me. Once got told to hurry up and put clothes away but then got told I was moving too fast and doing the job too quickly and to move slowly, then got told I was going too slow and move fast and get the job done ASAP. As well as folding clothes the one manager stood beside me with a timer cause she wanted to see if I could meet her requirements. (about 10 boxes of clothes in 25 minutes.) 

You got decent amount of breaks which are paid. It's a huge bonus.. Bonuses if you sold the most items in your store (though if you work part time you don't have a chance.) And it is a fairly easy and straightforward job.

To take time off or request for different shifts was a hassle. The managers would make the shift and that was it. If you wanted it changed, you'd have to hunt down and bribe other staff members to take the shift and then ok it with managers (half the time they said no.) I even requested time off a month in advance and got put on the days I asked off and got told I had to find people who would cover my shifts then. 

Advancement is also questionable. One of the girls I worked with had been working there for a year and a half and got a 10 cent raise and that's it. 

If you land a store that has decent managers, this job is fantastic. It's fun, easy, and enjoyable. If you are a people person than you are going to adore every moment of working here.

When I first started at warehouse one, it seemed like the perfect place to work. But a global pandemic, the biggest flood in 100 years, an ant infestation, an economic crash, really shows the true colours of company.
All of my staff has been laid off due to Covid 19 so I had to deal with the flood on my own. The district manager avoided fort mcmurray like the plague and I had to ask my mother, my step daughters, my friend and her mom to fix up the store and get it ready to open in 72 hours. I took pride in the store and did everything in my power to make it happen. 
It was expected by upper management to bend over backwards for little to no pay, no support and when other managers from across our district offered to come assist, the district manager refused those offers and simply said it’s not necessary ‘she’s got this’.
I had it ... but not without blood, sweat, tears, a mental breakdown and there was no appreciation from upper management. It was expected.
The aftermath of the flood is still going on in the store. It’s shut down dressing rooms, there’s no usable back room for stock or for staff to eat. The floors are popping up and in places, a hazard for staff and customers. I was told by the district manager to rip up the floor and put mats down.
When I brought up the fact that we’re the only store in fort mcmurray to not have plexi glass at the till I was told to put a table in front of the till making it next to impossible for customers to put there purchases on the desk and pay for them without discomfort. Despite the customer concerns and employee concerns brought forward to upper management..they do nothing. 
Having to disinfect the outside handles of the doors for the safety of customers and employees it’s affected the accuracy of hit rates so on paper it looks like you aren’t selling to the majority of your customers. You get called out on conference calls because management looks at these false stats with no consideration of multiple proven variables. They base your sales or lack thereof on what they did last year when the store was operating on regular hours (11hrs/day down to 7hrs/day) no quarantine, no social distancing. They don’t care what efforts are put in to the company. Your still never good enough. Good luck to whomever takes this position. Try not lose all self worth as they will try to suck out your soul.

A lot of physical work involved for little pay. 
The work can sometimes even be unsafe, climbing tall ladders to move around heavy shelving and clothing, with no safety gear or proper safety training other than wearing closed toe shoes. 
Employees, mostly managers, are expected to be  jack of all trades and fix issues like plumbing, flooring, electrical etc. before calling in a professional to fix (climbing tall ladders to change the lightbulbs in the ceiling fixtures with no saftey gear or training on even how to do that job)

 Stores are understaffed quite a lot, which shouldn't be a manager problem, but a company problem. Managers don't determine wages or the amount of work involved, so making understaffing to be a manager issue is not fair. 

Not a lot of communication between corporate and stores in regards to why we do the things we do, or even how to do certain things. We are just given a direction and told 'go complete this and make sure you do a great job, with little to no training or having 'training' being pushed onto other managers/employees cause corporate doesnt know how to do it themselves. But if managers/employees didn't know how to do something, out comes the snide and uncalled for remarks, the belittling, being made to feel horrible and small. Even though corporate training new managers almost never happens. Everyone is kind of expected to just know. 

The computers are a joke. IT doesnt even know why certain things happen on these outdated systems, but managers/employees are sure expected to know/figure out how to run the system, making no mistakes, or getting called out if mistakes are made. 
The job wouldn't be so stressful if corporate would be more understanding and compassionate like store level employees are expected to treat them. It's like store level employees are punching bags of the company when they should be treated with more repsect. They are the ones who sell the product and determine customer relationships.  
You think corporate would have a bit more to give, other than random contests, to drive up the bottom line, every six months with a pizza party as a prize.  Contests that benefit them in more aspects than they want to  say, rather than the contests making employees feel appreciated for the work they do. 



This is going to be long. When i first worked there, it was fine for the most part. Management was iffy but the customers were great, the assistant manager was good as well as the staff. The training was okay and pretty laid back.

When i first started i was part-time. But due to reasons i was looking for another job while still wanting to work this one. I told the manager and she immediately refused. Saying she'd give me full-time hours instead, but she didn't want me to get another job. At the time it seemed good. 

Working there i saw just how terrible the manager would treat certain staff. She'd pick on a single person until they quit. And when the last person quit i was picked on. I got blamed for things that weren't my fault, accused of sleeping on folding tables (I'm a overweight insecure person and those tables aren't strong). And no matter what i said, because theres no cameras and the person who accused me worked there longer. They refused to believe me. I got accused for so many things to the point where i thought i was in the wrong and i did something. Its only now that employers after had said they had absolutely no problems with me that i realize, I had done nothing wrong.

So many things had happen there. And especially i highly recommend not working there (a regular customer who is a known friend of the manager would come in, and her child called me a n***er and other staff had heard. When i told my manager she laughed.)

I remember asking her why no guys worked there and she had said it was because boys were incompetent and lazy, and if a boy had good fashion sense and would actually show up, or interview. She maybe would consider hiring them. 

So many things happened there and things that i witnessed but in all. Management is not stable, especially the manager. I remember going home and crying so much because of management. Don't get me wrong, some staff were amazing. But when so many got bullied out or left, it was just a brutal.

Working at Warehouse One Home Office has truly been a rewarding experience. A typical day at work is always fulfilling as it is filled with collaboration, problem-solving, and the satisfaction of knowing that what we do supports stores across the country. It’s a place where your ideas matter and your efforts are recognized.

Over the years, I’ve learned so much not just about retail and allocation, but about teamwork, adaptability, and continuous improvement. Every challenge helped me grow both professionally and personally.

The management team is approachable and supportive,  encouraging us to learn, take initiative, and aim higher. I feel valued, and that motivates me to bring my best every day.

One thing I truly enjoy is the workplace culture..  it’s inclusive, friendly, and people-focused. We really have the FCCR Values - Friendly, Caring, Committed and Real. There’s a real sense of community here, and that’s what makes the difference.

I also love how we have our hybrid work-from-home setup, I’ve been able to enjoy the best of both worlds.. the focus and flexibility of working from home, and the collaboration and connection when we're in the office.

And of course, one of the highlights of working here our Spirit Committee activities year round ! It keeps our team spirit alive and makes work even more enjoyable. Lots of fun initiatives like holiday events, themed dress-up days, charity drives adds joy and keeps our connection strong.

The most micro managed company I have ever worked for!! 
Managers have NO say in anything at the store level, which If they did the stores would do MUCH better!! People sitting behind a desk in a total differant province most of, if not all of  have never stepped foot in a WH1 retail store!! Telling you how to do EVERYTHING!! Dont ever dare offer any ideas!! Maybe if they let their managers Manage it would be a much better place to work. SOOO Much email & reports & time spent responding to all the emails!!! and stuff they want done, leaves very little time to do your  actual job!! Helping customers, making sure store is clean and presentable with displays etc.  This company expect A LOT  from their staff with no recognition or appreciation AT ALL!!  I Worked very hard  for a company that after 2.5 years of  managing turned around and threw under a bus!! Took away a much deserved and promised bonus!! And my EI by lying about my last week of work there before the closing of the store!!  Terrible Company to work for!!! Most everyone you talk to at the Head office are very rude and condescending!! Make you feel like you are an idiot, and that they are so much better then you!!  So MUCH BS!!! WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE FOR EMPLOYMENT!! I should have listened to all the people that told me not to work here!!!

This job started out pleasant and fun, and by being reliable and hardworking I earned 2 promotions within a year into a management role. However I was given no time to perform any management training to assist in the transition. Unfortunately the management team who had made the job enjoyable moved on shortly after I started, which drastically changed the workplace dynamic.

The majority of work to keep the store tidy and keep up day-to-day operations such as coaching and paperwork got pushed onto me as the store manager's behavior encouraged employees to do minimal work. Staff were encouraged to gossip and workplace harassment quickly became a problem that was left unaddressed in the name of team-building. 

As a part time job or an entry level fulltime job it is can be fun and rewarding to find someone that perfect outfit. There is a thrill with getting a large sale by being honest and introducing people to promotions to save money. However at a management level it is quick to get burnt out by being undertrained and overworked.

At Warehouse One I really enjoyed the hands-on, personal aspects of dealing with customers. I liked learning their personalities and meeting their challenges as well. I had a management team that was very supportive of all staff members needs and were also willing to teach me everything that I wanted to learn. 

The hardest part of this job was not being able to move up to management even though I had the training to do it. Learning the roles of management and appreciating what needs to be done to run a successful team really helped me as a supervisor; I was able to look at all situations from multiple points of view in regards to customers as well as my co-workers.

I worked with a variety of people that all offered something unique and made every day different. We all felt very comfortable approaching each other if we had an issue that needed to be resolved and because of this constructive criticism was never taken the wrong way; We all helped each other be our best selves at work.

When working at Warehouse One the Jean Store, everyday was a fun experience because we always had something to do. We were either helping out customers, cleaning out the change rooms, re--folding clothes or re-stocking our shelves. Every day was fast-paced fun and we of course had some customers that didn't like us that much but we still smiled and helped them out. We learned how to use the register in almost all of its entirety's except for management. We learned how to fold the clothing, re-stock and do inventory. The hardest part of the day was probably when it slowed down to 1-2 customers or none because you could finish everything and then couldn't help but get bored. The most enjoyable was when we were in our rush hour time because we got to help lots of customers make them smile and always had things to do so working was easy and the time flew by during those times. It was also good at those times because of the community the co-workers had with each other we were basically like a family so no one was afraid to ask the others for help. All in all it was a very fun motivating experience.
