*A typical day at work would be communicating with customers, any issues that they have, resolving them but keeping in mind to stay within company's policies and guidelines.  Keying orders, responding and following up on e-mails.  Making sure meeting all the deadlines is very crucial.  Keeping updated all the time regarding any changes within the company. Lastly staying organized and planning a head is the major success for me each day.
*I have learned many different ways of being professional, some of which are staying organized, how to plan my day, multitasking, learning how companies work on day to day basis, how to communicate with customers at all levels, and much much more.
*I think that it is very important that management is fully knowledgeable about the company its policies and procedures.  Management is a big part of each firm I believe and how they present themselves is what matters and shows within the team.  I've had excellent management to work with very educated about the company, understating, patient, and with excellent organizational skills.
*Co-Workers are also very important to me. To me it just makes it going to work really exciting knowing that I've got excellent co-workers to work with.  Who are friendly, respectful and helpful and make the work place a really comfortable place to work in.
*Hardest part of my job I think would be sometimes situations come up where customers are so upset that they want a decision made right away for there issues.  In situations like this it's had to agree with the customer on the phone, but keeping in mind that they are upset I try my best to make them satisfied that I would speak to a manager or look into the companies policy to make sure I resolve there issue as soon as possible, and also keeping in mind not to hurt any company rules and regulations. I always like to challenge myself!
*I love my job, the people I work with and dealing with customers, and internal sales field reps. I make every moment enjoyable for myself.  I look at everything very positively and enjoy everything I do on daily basis at my work place.

The Mississauga head office is generally a so-so place to work at.

Pros include decent co-workers, compensation generally in-line with the market and a brand name that external companies recognize 

Cons are a bit longer....
-Incredibly incompetent senior management team, specifically in the Canadian finance department with top management generally clueless about even the simplest of finance concepts, along with top management clearly playing favourites (ignoring everyone else)
-US counterparts can be a handful to deal with
-General lack of direction/motivation/long-term vision within the organization...seems to be a month by month operation (strat plan is a joke)
-Forget about career progression here; company is pretty lean and has not been growing notably for a number of years (layoffs, on the other hand, happen on a fairly regular basis)

Long story short, I don't regret my time here but I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone who is competent and has the ability to look for something better at a more dynamic organization.

Typical day at work includes running my training centre in Dubai, training our dealers and staff on new and existing products.

What I have learned from working here: more than anything else to be flexible, nimble, and proactively responsive in a very dynamic region of the world.

The management of SBD INC. is stacked with an unusual amount of solid leaders who are happy with their positions and thus makes them more balanced in dealing with their subordinates. Opportunity abounds for advancement as the company tries to keep up with Emerging Market growth in double digits, YOY. 

Hardest part of my job: setting up for a major training event.

Most enjoyable part of my job: standing up in front of a group of 20 to 2000 people and telling them about the features and benefits of Stanley Black and Decker products.

This Location specifically in Mississauga has its peaks. After working here, decided I needed to look for an environment that isn’t one sided. The management is lacking in certain areas, and there is a lot of favouritism happening which bothers others to see. When applying for this job there was a request for completion of studies wether it be degree or certificate, little did I realize halfway in there are those employed whom only completed post secondary… mind you they are the ones getting special treatment. They take return items homes because their ‘boss’ allows them to in secret, as well as extended breaks because like again, their boss (whom is most likely a relative) allows it. I understand working with family and friends can be beneficial for a workplace but not when that is taking advantage of the other employees just because there is no relation. 

A typical work day at SBD varies depending on your role. As a field sales rep, one should expect to plan site/store visits, answer emails, provide sales support to distributors, organize events ect.

During my time with SBD, I've learned sales planning, learned how to build and foster professional relationships and negotiating.

Managers tend to lead by example.

Workplace culture varies depending on geographical location. But it can be intense as far as work life balance is concerned. Also, depending on your location, promotions may be hard to come by.

Hardest part about the job is dealing with delicate customers. It requires alot of patience and tact. 

Most enjoyable part of the job is playing with tools and demoing them.


Stanley Security Solutions is a premier security provider to much of the retail marketplace in Canada. Serving most national retail chains branch locations in security hardware and CCTV applications, as Service Coordinator it was challenging to arrange prompt installation and service especially in remote parts of Western Canada where vendors are scarce. Challenging as it was, it afforded me to work along side great people and establish a network of hard working and professional vendors. 

The most enjoyable part of the job was when the end user would understand the time and effort required to accommodate there service request ... and thank me for doing a good job.

On a daily basis I will allocated security devices to my clients, assess customers needs. Process orders.

At Stanley I learned about the security indudtry, the unctions of locks and keys as well I was able to learn to with difficult customers/co-workers.

My team was the best we are all very close and even though I am no longer there we have awesome relationships.

The hardest part of the job is fixing mistakes this job leaves no room for errors and one mistakes can cause a lot of problems.

The most enjoyable part of the job was feeling a sense of accomplishment when a project was completed. Knowing that the customer is thrilled with the work.

I would start my day with a nice cup off coffee, and show up for work around 6:00am sometimes even earlier. If I am early, I would wait in the eating room and drink my coffee. When my shift starts, I would then goto the back of the warehouse, and see how many trucks we had to unload for the day. We would then start unloading products off of the trucks and stacking them on skids. My co-workers were all friendly people and it made the days go by quicker. The hardest part of the job, would be when you were at the back of the truck it would get really hot. The most enjoyable part would be that we could listen to the radio while we unloaded the trucks and that would also make the days go by quicker.

This is an example of where you should not work unless you have to. They do not truly understand basic management principles, marketing and communications strategies and principles, operations and production quality control is illogical and not predictable, purchasing and logistics are all over the place, customer satisfaction is not a priority, employee respect, development or value is non-existent - hence most people want or are looking for a new job (at the time). Many consultants have come and gone for very good reasons, and many more left for even better reasons! Stay away.

I learned a lot of transferable skills such as communication, time management, mentoring and leadership as well as hard skills like Warehouse management system, RF scanning technology.  Co-workers are fun and friendly.  Very Multi-cultural environment! Hardest part is commute.  Most enjoyable part: being able to work in a positive environment (most of the time) music is often allowed.  Management is wishy washy, too many people trying to be or act like management as well mixed messages get sent.  Communication on that level is not that great.
