This was the dirtiest place I've ever worked, dust dirt and grit everywhere. Employee safety is average at best..Good luck getting a rain coat or winter jacket if you have to go outside for any reason. I was told to go to Walmart for a raincoat and my job was inside  they needed help outside for a day  needless to say I got soaked. If you train on any of the 4 shift jobs but don't hold a job. They own you. you will never be able to plan a weekend away , any medical appointments, family activities. You will have no idea what you will be working from week to week. The employee turnover is ridiculous. Precious few last..
Only plus, money and benefits were decent.
However they should be paying a alot more for the environment you work in.
Great bunch of guys for sure, this place is not for everybody.

It may be dirty job but paid half decent. A lot of the employees were great to work with, with the exception of some supervisors. The company is suppose to give you the safety equipment to do your job but half the time they don't give it to you or say they can't get it or that they don't have it. Some of the time if you needed a supervisor, they were non existent. If something broke on your shift the supervisor would blame you for it. If the supervisor doesn't like you, they will lie about you and the front office will say your reviews were poor and they will let you go about a week before you get in the union. I've worked there for 5 months and about 3 weeks without ever getting written up or called into the office. I did what was asked of me and then plus some.

It's a dirty plant, however the experience you'll gain as an electrician is second to none with respect to troubleshooting, upgrades, retrofits, and repairing equipment. The pay is among the highest that you'll find in Niagara at $43/hr this coming April and $1/hr raise every year until contract renewal in 2025. The electrical crew at the plant is excellent to work with. Everyone is always willing to step in and help out, there is a real team atmosphere in the electrical shop. with the on call rotation, and as much overtime as you want, you can easily make 100k-110k per year. 

worked there without a blemish on my record for 5 months 3 weeks (as it takes 6 months to qualify for their unionization) and without reason was let go one week before becomming a union member. just a dirty awful place to work. your expected to work around completely exposed furnaces doing extremely heavy labor that even in the best of conditions should limited and they push and push you until you either break and quit or you survive long enough to be let go right before becomming a lifer.

Bounced from job to job, department to department, boss to boss. You could work 8 hours, 12 hours, 10 hours, your scheduele always changes every week, not one bit of stability. Management has no idea what they are doing and tend to implement random changes that do more harm then good. Safety is non existent, outdated equipment, nothing is provided. Quite a few good guys, all depends on what department your working with, if you are working with the iron mill or daytime conveyor goodluck.

Dusty and dirty and Smokey at times have to watch out for forklifts and front end loader and overhead cranes

I worked my Butt off everyday and I had ppl asking me to come work with them cause I'm far from lazy and enjoy hard work but my trail time was almost over and just before I got in union they pulled this BS about poor working and a bunch of other bs
This is why they constantly are hiring....they only keep you if they can turn you into a zombie and have you always working there stupid shift work.

Working at Washington Mills is a great place to bring my skills and help gain additional skills. I am able to work on my current job and also bid on other jobs to learn more and advance. Compensation and benefits program is decent for the Niagara region. The culture is relaxed and inviting and the people are really nice including the management team. I like how it feels like a family. 

A typical day at work involves design, interaction with vendors and meaningful discussion with coworkers and manager regarding projects. This company has a lot of interesting projects to work on. They are very focused on training and nurturing the workforce. The top management is very kind and understanding. There is a lot of emphasis on safety and quality. 

There is absolutely no work life balance your shifts change constantly and management doesn’t know how to manage their workers. And beware of the HR the biggest tyrant you will ever deal with. Also when it comes to safety that’s last as the safety coordinator is to busy looking at the clouds to care what is  happening around him. Union is also lacking in some areas.
