It's a stable job. You'll always have job security, benefits are somewhat limited in Canada but can be decent depending on your location. Pay is generally OK, overtime is always available and generally mandatory at my site (55hrs).  

One thing I will say is that upper level management DOES seem to take safety seriously. If you don't feel comfortable preforming what you think is an unsafe task and speak out you won't get punished even if you were wrong in your assumptions. 

If you are a residential Loader/helper or Driver/loader combo it can be very physically demanding.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The union was great. Pay was good too.

Tight deadlines and attention to drivers

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great. People are friendly and easy to deal with

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Punch in. Navigate the city. Return to shop. Clock out

It seems that staffing is and always will be an issues, turn over rate is high and enough make it one year, very few make it 2 years. Upper management has no idea what goes on at the municipal level.

A few years ago, it was a great company, but they are changing the policies  adding more workload  to the employees so they can save money not hiring personnel and they reduced the vacation time to currently employees. 

I liked working for waste management  I new a lot of people that worked there so it was good place to work . Hours where good but in the summer time it was very hot and the winter it was really cold but it was all ways a fun place to work 

Good company to work for, industry leading pay but expectations can be more when others get by because they are protected by the union. Plenty of overtime if you want to max your logbook daily.

Lots of fun working here, manager is understanding, coworkers are helpful and always willing to help if you need it, overtime is always available. Lots of room for advancement

great place to work, enjoyed all of my time there, culture was great,people were great, learned a lot & made some great friends some days I miss it, but it was time to moveon

Job was good. Hour good pay not so much. But did a lot of out off town work. That's all and should not have to right 150 words minium . Kind of ridiculous.

Didn't like it, not a friendly place to work.

Work was not interesting, doing transactional work all year round.

It is a great office building though. Not much more
