What is the best part of working at the company?
You get weekly paychecks. Great benefits 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You might get a faulty vehicle to work in. The repair department has a yearly budget. If there's any money left, it gets paid out to the mechanics. A lot of broken down vehicles don't get fixed

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The guys there talk like high school students. Rumors are rampant. A lot of drivers smoke in the vehicle when that's not allowed. I asked dispatch not to pair me with one driver in particular and I ended up getting fired. It's cool now because I work for TTC now

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Nothing is easy in life. You get what you put in. The job can get done in six or seven hours. But some workers stretch it out so they can get a good pay

When I worked there, the trucks were in poor condition and breaking down all the time. The only reason they kept moving was the mechanic was Good at his job. In the mornings the Drivers would be sitting upstairs, complaining about everything for an hour or 2 before they even started their shift.
Other drivers would easily throw you under the Garbage truck. And we're always talking behind each other's backs. I ran the box track a roll off truck and the recycling truck as well as delivering bins. The company was poor Management and communication was terrible. You're they would change by the minute, and they overworked you to the point of exhaustion

Aftertreatment service regenerations preformed in the shop with very poor ventilation, out dated units and equipment techs are expected to purchase there own air lines and all tools up to 2 inch's .
Safety is none existent here. Uniform service being used is terrible often leaving people without uniforms.
Very poor employee moral across large parts of the company.
Company didn't fix the washroom so employees were often seen peeing in yard.
Best part about working here is the 500$ tool allowance if you can get it.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Poor management. Required to do questionable requests by supervisors and superiors that M.O.E. May not find compliant.  Overcharged customers not ideal. Rebublic should be doing a better job as owners

Stressful and uncomfortable. Unfortunately 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
12-14 hours. Overworked minimal pay

I was employed at wasteco for a few years. They dont have any training for the mechanics, the work that the mechanics do in the shop is crazy slow. Trucks are in very bad condition. There's no new equipment or tools to help fix the trucks, its all old. No communication between shifts or other mechanics. Safety meetings are non existent. Vacation time is super hard to get. Equipment that mechanics work on doesnt get fixed. When you point out safety concerns they rarely get addressed. very lazy team on the management side 

I worked Full time.The Environment was worst the management is worse too but the co-workers were good and respectful.Being a student I was able to make enough money for my fee as overtime work is needed every time but the place is not fun to work.
Forget about moving up ,Salaries and work will remain the same no matter how hard you work you are not going to be promoted.

-The organization's core business stretches from putting the right people in the right places at all times but has highly complicated cost center's such as transportation and disposal, making it a challenge.
-The most enjoyable part of the job is the hunt for new deals

Stay away the managers and gm have zeroe clue what they are doing.  Praise the guys who do jack and go after their hard working and skilled staff for stupid reasons. New GM has replaced safety incentive with stale cold " pizza party" for drivers if everyone has gone a period of time without incident. Absolute disgrace of a management team I would recommend staying away . Complete losers are running the show here now . 

Wasteco is privately owned and run like a dysfunctional family.   The owners are on separate agendas.  They don’t trust anyone and pit staff against each other.  They are afraid of change.  They will tell you otherwise at your interview but in reality that doesn’t happen.   Training is poor.  Morale of staff is low.  Turnover of middle management is high.  Sales team has no respect for management

This job is pretty good money, but you have to deal with very dirty work, a lot of broken promises from mgmt, and almost a complete lack of safety. If you want to put your head down, dont want promotions, and work a lot of overtime, wasteco may be for you. Otherwise, look for a cleaner, safer place to work.
