Watch It

A typical day at work would be: every single day, employees get together and plan what they will accomplish in the day. Here at Watch It! we provide friendly customer service, where all the employees are fun and outgoing which gives the Watch It! environment a place where you can feel comfortable about not just selling a product, but building a relationship with the customers. What I learned at Watch It! is that beyond the product you should be able to cope with a variety of customers, whether they are happy or angry and that you are able to make them feel comfortable when they are in the store. The hardest part of the job would have to be that when it got really busy, and being a senior, it was my duty to make other employees feel comfortable about handling multiple customers at one time, while still maintaining a friendly environment ands still creating that intimate personal contact with the customer. What I enjoy most about this job is the variety of people that come into the store and the relationship and social skills you build with different kinds of people. The most exciting and thrilling thing about this job that kept making me come in everyday is the excitement of meeting a new person everyday and being able to talk to strangers and developing a friendship. This job has really opened me up as a person and has improved my social skills to better communicate with people.

A work week would include working as a team to create a positive selling environment. Customer's were number one, then warranty (Qlox system), orders, inventory counts and managing the store. Making sure everyone was aware of what was going on with new products and how to sell our products effectively. My coworkers were the reason I stayed there, I have strong relationships with the people I work with and communicate to all staff and customer's in friendly but resourceful way. The hardest part of my job was being the middle person between the companies (warranty policies) and our customers sometimes things did not line up as much as I wished. The most enjoyable part of my job was that I could see people I got along with and had fun with daily and that alone made talking to any customer more enjoyable and no stress of 'must' sell mentality. 

A typical day would consist of a relatively typical retail store opening. Depending on the size of the location and how busy the day is expected to be, you will be opening/closing by yourself. The daily maintenance is quite simple, consisting of mainly keeping cabinets clean and dust-free, as all the product is behind glass cabinets. 
For loss prevention purposes, the employee must be careful of not keeping cabinets open for customers to reach in and help themselves to the products (watches & sunglasses), as 1) it's an easy way for things to get stolen; and 2) as we're talking about watches, if they get dropped they can easily break/shatter.

Watch It! is a great place to work in terms of wanting a relaxing job. I've learned a lot about watch maintenance and many features that I didn't know existed before starting this job. Management is well, they know how to set goals, get everyone on track, and make great sales. Everyone in the workplace is very friendly and are very knowledgeable individuals who can pursue a lot of sales. However, learning all the product knowledge for each watch brand is very hard especially when you don't have the time to study for the commissions test.

My overall experience with this company can be described as one of the best jobs I have had since I have began working at a young age. The personal training and company incentives were great. Staff contests within store and company wide made the workplace a competitive but also fun environment. Management was always attentive and caring. Any issues and concerns were addressed immediately. Staff would always be able to reach management.

Overall, the position was fairly relaxed and manageable, however I was not impressed with the management. Too many employees were hired in a short amount of time when for a store of its size does not need more employees than already present, resulting in cutting hours for other employees.

I truly struggled at this job. I am not good at sales. It was nice to meet new people everyday and help them to choose an accessory that best fit their needs but I couldn't push a sale on someone. My boss was a wonderful person and very understanding when I decided to leave.

Amazing environment to work in, with great management that helps you build confidence in your work. With hard set deadlines, and multiple promotions to inform customers about, it was challenging, but was definitely a learning experience.

They really invest in their staff, the bottom line is important but not above their people. Great leadership and an easy company to work for. Pay could be higher but overall not awful.

I would not recommend this place. The watch it owner filed for bankruptcy and closed down the store with no warning. We are left with no job and it was very unfortunate for him to handle his situation with no communication.
