Since starting here the company has gone through some culture changes and positive gains.  They are continuously organizing and cleaning all parts of the facility. They are investing in new state of the art machinery  which keeps us on the leading edge of production and quality.  Management is committed on improving  communications with the whole team and listens to what we have to say. Even with the COVID restrictions the company still manages BBQ's and Lunches while adhering to social distancing guidelines. The wages are fair for the area and are improving.

Had an interesting variety of work in Forestry and agricultural products, however the industries are volatile and there are busy and slow seasons for work.

Beware of contract positions. Likely to hire you until project is "complete" and then let you go.
 
The lack of organization and priorities for deadlines is frustrating. "yesterday would be nice" was a common response when asked for a deadline on a new project.

overall an interesting experience with a variety of engineering work, however management and planning for projects is rushed and unstructured. Be prepared to manage yourself.

I worked at Waycon for a year and half in the engineering department, coming in with a full manufacturing background I hit the ground running and started solving problems and pushing projects through on day one. After a year it became obvious that management operates on a fear-based motivation style versus nurture and reward. I don't respond to orders and 'fear-based' motivation well, resulting in a constant feeling of job insecurity. Working with exceptional trades people and challenging projects made the job.

worked here as a welder and found the work itself fair, but the management culture difficult. I often felt my input wasn’t respected and that communication lacked consistency. There were occasions where commitments made verbally were later changed or denied, which created frustration and uncertainty.

        Compensation improved, but only after     Staffing concerns arose, which made it feel   reactive rather than performance-based

There’s potential here, but stronger leadership accountability and respect for employees would go a long way.

Productive high quality manufacturing in the middle of paradise. Very diverse product range in a wide variety of primary and secondary sectors. Highly competent staff from engineers to fabricators & welders to operators. Ever expanding facility and capabilities that serves all of western Canada, reaching out east, south past the border, and overseas. A lasting legacy of excellence established by John O’Connell the founder. 

So much potential but they can’t figure it out. Poorly run, management is very dishonest, no loyalty. If you are good at sucking hole you might succeed there, but if you are a good tradesmen trying to do a good job don’t bother. They refuse to adapt and do things properly. The quality of their products has become terrible because they have people in charge who never stepped foot on a shop floor. Yet these same people decide how everything is done. Micro management is rampant. People are always set up to fail. All in all it was a brutal experience. 

Having done many years of work away from home I have found a good balance of working hard for a decent wage and being home every night with my family. The variety of projects that come through the door keep things interesting and steer the mind away from the monotony of some other manufacturing facilities. The family based management seems to be working hard to accommodate a variety of new projects and to take care of the many employees.

I have enjoyed my time working at Waycon and learned a lot from the people I worked with. Gained tons of valuable experience by being involved with multiple projects in different industries. Coworkers were also great and very approachable whenever needed.

Since most projects were fast paced, workload management could have been better by having an engineering lead/ manager.

Overall, this is a great company to work for and gain relevant experience.

Middle Management is a total joke. Incompetent comes to mind.
Senior Management listens to Middle Management's blatant lies.
You are set up to fail with absolutely no support.
Wrong Drawings=bad parts.
No communication=bad parts.
No Team atmosphere it's Management against everyone else, a total divide.
There is no room for advancement.
Machinists should stay well clear of Waycon.
