What is the best part of working at the company?
Best part of working there is the ability to connect with the community and get outside in the fresh air. If sitting at a desk for hours is not something you enjoy, then this company is where you want to work. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part would be understaffing. You'll be tasked with completing your own commitments as well as constantly aiding your co-workers with theirs. It can get overwhelming if you're not prepared to be juggling 10 different tasks at the same time. None of which are your responsibility to complete. Also constant interruptions from your direct supervisor. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Tight-knit, very communicative

Overall poorly managed, rude and passive aggressive workers who outnumber some really hard working and passionate workers of the field. Always seem like workers are in competition with others and no sense of team work in order to stand out for own personal gain. They will fire you on the spot and hand you a letter to clear out at that moment. No consideration to their workers and their life. For an organization with so many locations and services, one would think they would give their workers whether they be contact, part time, or full time equal treatment.

West Neighbourhood House cultivates an inclusive, healthy learning environment for adults looking to improve their literacy. Non-judgemental, the centre provides the tools to improve one's education to a level that they can move forward to more institutionalized spaces of higher education later on.  I love being a part of their volunteer team as a one-on-one tutor.

I improved my communication skills while I had lots of opportunities to talk to others from different fields at workplace. 
Management was so helpful and friendly. They helped me a lot especially at the very beginning time at work.
The hardest part of the work was dealing with people from different backgrounds and cultures.  

I like working with seniors I love a lot of things sometimes the joke sometimes they tell me a lot of story from past and then you have to have a patient and then you have to listen to them I'm very happy to work in the nursing home. I learn work place culture also.


I love the nature of the work, co worker very warmth, i can see the unity of company beacuse the coordinator and team  leader so kind and wonderful.I can say i will stay and work longer but for me is n0t convenient coz i live far. I will still think about it.

The organization offers support for the volunteers and supervisors are often nice people. They  are understandable and empathize with you. They try to offer a position that better suits your talents and preferences and are very compassionate in the process. I recomend to anyone that wants to do volunteer work.

Loved working with different people from different backgrounds. The staff always helpful and there when you need them. Working with clients was pleasant. Overall good experience.


Used to be a fun job but it is not as enjoyable for a variety of reasons. Lots of gossip among your peers and supervisors about each other and don't expect advancement unless you are a particular favorite of your supervisor/s.

amazing workplace, gives you amazing experience working with schoolage children, and understand their creative minds. wonderful staff, amazing and helpful supervisor
