What is the best part of working at the company?
People, my supervisor was awesome.   Listens, treats everyone well, takes care of his people.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing was bad stress, it was good stress.   Learning and growing can be stressful.   Being given new opportunities can be stressful,but exciting

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I am not sure if it is company wide, but the culture of our crew downtown was awesome.   I felt like my input matters, I always felt valued.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?

Get to site, safety.meeting, install what ever needs to be done, take coffee take a lunch finish day go home

Hours of work was good with 8 hr days. Pay is good.
EVERYTHING ELSE IS BAD. You are just a number. The only care they have is getting the job done. They do not care about employee health, they are not supportive, likely as you are just a number. They will lie, make false statements to protect the company and not help employees. HIRE FIRE to the core.
If you do not give up your life to work OT they look even more negative towards you which does make sense as you will be fired when the project is completed regardless. Not a work life balance.

Working for Western was a great experience.  The foreman's on site were extremely knowledgeable and helpful.   Western offers top tier PPE and incredible, unbeatable benefits.  

I felt that the crews working under the Forman were very family oriented, and I never met one nasty journeyman,  in fact every one of them were eager to let me learn and run the tools and as a second year apprentice, I really appreciated that. 


If you get the chance, give Western a shot, you will not be disappointed. 

A typical day for me consisted of troubleshooting, & switching between the crews helping anyone who needed a hand and offering support and guidance when required. 
I had great opportunities to learn different ways to approach the different problems and tasks as they came up.
With so many jobs in the city, I had lots of opportunities to see many different aspects of the commercial side of electrical.
The hardest part of the job for me was having to wait longer than we should have for answers, approvals, and material.
The most enjoyable part of my job was seeing and learning new things.

Easily, one of the best places to work for in the trade. Job culture is amazing, everyone gets along and will assist each other if needed, which creates a wealth of knowledge not often seen. A no drama workplace. Quality of work performed is next to none. Superintendent is extremely knowledgeable and very easy to approach. I would highly recommend Western for any and all commercial projects in and around Regina for a smooth and timely finish of all electrical works.

You are truly a number at this company. They will make you feel like your apart of something special so long as you serve them not alot of room for growth. They tolerated blatant racism and a specific manager would harass and micromanage you despite your years of service. You will find the longer you are there the worse it gets. The guys who slack off are ignored, and those who work hard will be worked harder. This company used to be a place for the Elite electrician. And is now a place of poor management and disrespect.

Worked there recently, I worked hard and no appreciation, and was kicked out without any reason. Buddy system and friendship works here. Laziest guys I ever seen, Forman never evaluate your performance, criteria is buddy system. Some of dudes are just show up and make money n don’t bother about work. Work is not even a priority here. Was disappointed, top bosses don’t give ( f ) about whatz going on. Money is good ,  if u r person of colour just don’t go there , a friendly reminder. 

Was an alright company until they started taking on larger projects. The company is now solely ran on nepotism, racism and sexism with some of the worst leadership you will ever experience with no respect to personal life.

For apprentices harassment by journeymen is ignored and is actually encouraged. Learning is at a minimum while most of the time all they do is cleanup & carry around heavy items for journeymen. Favoritism, gossip and all around bad work culture abounds at western electrical. Safety is encouraged but ignored if the job "needs to get done". Apprentices just should stay clear of this union busting business!

Would work for Western  Electric Management again. If my services are required, either at a journeyman or sub-foreman level. Was a fast paced environment and a high level of different experience. Setting up and implementing main distribution pulling with tuggers. Working at extreme heights on the cabling with the building crane.
