It's a fun place to work, with varied locations and shifts to go to (out of town shifts have the team picked up from a meet point together). If your team members and management are friendly and laid back, you'll have a good time, even when shifts get crazy and last all night.
The job is flexible and works well as a good way to make some side money and also as a second job. 

The pay is just above minimum wage and sometimes feels like you aren't getting enough. Very few people will want to advance as most leave the job due to the transitional nature of it. Some jobs are less than 3 hours, while others may be more than 10. It isn't stable in terms of hours worked and your pay cheque will reflect that. Overall, you have your good days and your bad days just like any other job, and it's a fun atmosphere if you make friends.

WIS isn't engaging. You show up, work for four hours or so, and hope tomorrow is a six hour shift so you can keep money in the bank. It's serviceable as a source of spending cash, but if you tell them your availability is weekends in about 2 months they start scheduling you Tuesday mornings and you have to decide if the job is worth keeping because you'll have a hard time convincing them they're wrong.

Your managers likely will not bother to learn your name, and you'll never get a raise. But as a short term boost to spending cash or a summer job living at home you could do a lot worse. You never have to deal with customers which is a huge bonus. But you might work a four hour shift 9pm to 1am and have to start a morning job at 7 (they will force you sign away certain rights to get hired.)

Although Western Inventory Services boasted about employees ability to make their own schedules. Sending out shifts for us to choose sounds good but it usually meant taking shifts that were back to back
 Early morning shifts (6 am or earlier), than graveyard shifts. Totally unhealthy. It does take a toll on mind and body physically and emotionally.

You could choose not take shifts but that usually meant less hours for employees. 

Even the supervisors didn't understand why the territory managers would offer schedules like that for it's employees.

It was equally hard for supervisors too as I can attest when in confidence a supervisor let it be known that he 
too was upset about work schedules.

I had a great experience with this company. The work was simple but not easy, and got repetitive/boring after a while. The supervisors and manager were very supportive and wanted to help you learn.

I heard a few second-hand complaints about the other managers from other offices that we worked with. Your experience will definitely depend on who you're working with.

Head office sometimes made some questionable decisions. The supervisors were usually on your side, though.


There are also not a lot of opportunities for upward mobility. Overall, a great first job, but not a good long-term career.

The job it's self is good and easy enough, however management will talk negatively about employees, employees will yell, swear, even sometimes fight each other at job sites. Management will not deal with any issues except absences, so people do as they please, there is a lot of favoritism involved and overall just a super negative environment. If you don't talk to anybody and just do your job it's not terrible. A lot of people can be wonderful, but more often than not they are miserable and hostile.

A typical day: count the sections you have been assigned to using a Wisard scanner; I learned to count accurately as fast as possible.Good company, but the work is seasonal (Peaks in January/February. Insufficient hours for the rest of the year).  Hardest part of the job, but most interesting, are the different customers, different way of counting at each store. .

Not worth talking about Bad supervisors poor management long  hours with very little breaks. Salary no motivation to reach a goal for raises Impossible to reach the goal 
Safety is a huge issue non existent drivers on the road over the legal limit of hours to be driving. Some drivers  and no log book very unsafe have been known to almost fall asleep at the wheel. Vehicles not maintenance or se

Horrible place to work. The one boss had her favourites and they got all the hours. Also, you couldn’t budget working there. 40 hours during peak times. Maybe 10 hours a month during non-peak. Good luck paying rent and forget ever making enough money to buy a house. Stay far away, very toxic. If it were possible, I’d have given them 0 stars

If you are looking for stability and a job that will pay enough for living expenses, this is not it. One day you can be working 8 hrs the next it can be 2 hours. Although you get to travel alot and travel time is paid, I would not recommend it with people who have a family. You can make some money but not see them. Pay is minimum wage and there is no benefits.

I have been with WIS since 2011 part time.   I enjoy working with people (team).    
WIS Customers (Home Depot, Walmart, others stores)
Sometimes the stores is not prepare for WIS employees to come and do inventory, so it make the job harder and longer.
When the store is ready for WIS,  our job is easy and fast.
