Its an easy job as you come in the morning at 0600hrs and wait for a job. If any sites are lacking of manpower they will contact Western Labour and dispatch you or if you are liked by the site managers and they requested you back. Then its a confirm job for you till either you screw up or project ends. But if no job, you will be send home. The whole cycle repeat the next day. 

Its great if you are looking for something temporary and supplement your existing Full time job. If you cant make it, just called em. Its all about self discipline. If you commit to come then make sure you do otherwise you will be "Barred" especially on the weekend.

Basically, just take a day at a time. Arrive in the morning and wait and if no job then go home with a positive note. Paid daily or weekly.

Completion of Field Level Hazard Assessment prior to commencement of work. Typical day includes loading/unloading construction material, heavy lifts, assist other trades such as pouring concrete, cleaing up site, disposing construction debris to proper bins and attending toolbox meeting once a week. Hardest part of the job is  lifting a wheel barrel full of concrete. Most enjoyable part is production, working steadily throughout the day, sweating and taking micro-breaks, and back to work. Feels good to go home and get a good nights sleep and start all over again.

Make sure to read all the fine print on all the signs in the office so that you know what NOT to do in order to continue working the next day. Make sure you call not a minute late or they might “not  remember” making you sit there for hours then not sending you out to work when you have to be there before 6 AM. Nobody tells you the “rules” so read all the posted signs for sure.

The start takes a little, you will get a few jobs here and there in the first 2 weeks. After it picks up you will be sent to Calgary and surrounding areas nearly every day. Some of the supervisors really suck, but most are alright.

If you consistently show up you will get some temp positions anywhere from a few days to  weeks. There's a variety of positions to get experience in construction.

good construction work. they always find something for you. western labour always finds work for you wether it be carpentry or just labour work. Ive been going there on and off for years.

it just was a temp agency, something to do to pass the time, and to make enough for smokes and luck
