I love working as a supply teacher at WQSB. Many of my days are scheduled in a day or two in advance, but it is a very casual position where you need to always be ready to work. I have worked at 7 different schools in WQSB over my 10 years. I prefer to work in high school and middle school. Still, my supply days at Elementary schools are often the most fun. The management, workplace culture, and teaching staff are very supportive and inclusive. The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting new students every day and learning new ideas. Some may think working with teenagers is the hardest part of the job, but I love it. For me, the hardest part of the job is the pay scale that requires you to work 211+ minutes to receive a full day's pay. Most teachers are scheduled for only 200 minutes so I often work for more than one teacher to get that extra 11+ minutes...sometimes an extra hour. I have even driven to another school to pick up the extra time for a full day's pay. It is the way the pay scale is set up, but that is the only challenging part for me. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Once you get a permanent job, the hours and position is the same all the time.  Other than that, this is the only positive thing about working for this company.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part about working for this company is the BS management and the amount of backstabbing people that work there.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Fast paced, often boring and complacent work.  It’s a very toxic working environment there regardless if you work at a school or the school board office. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day is checking my emails, tending to the needs of the secretary and principal and taking care of the students.

Great place to learn about team work every day and to feel like you are part of something. Your time and effort is strongly valued and appreciated every day, it really gives you a sense of accomplishment. Learning is about taking the time every day to know what you have to improve and set your goals. Dealing with customers can be tricky but it's all about having the right tools about knowing that the information you are giving is the right one. I learned in my years of experience that a mistake can happen to every one but you are expected to know how to fix it because it can affect others. Taking responsability for your actions is very important. It makes you aware of your environment. The management is very professional but also, takes the time to meet with you on regular base to discuss about performance.

After 36 years worth it hasn't changed much in advancement unless you are a member of the family or a brown nosier to advance in a higher paying position now you have to be credified for you to be able to advance but at your expense before arriving .they limit who gets Credified . Know this personal as I've asked . Can only your favorites get credified sorry to say .was the first one in the board to have the whimis course. Till they made it manitory in our work place .same with safety course that most jobs have to have now a days is become manitory . Which I was told doesn't count for me but only for those who they like .they still need to clean up there act . They have a long way to go .

The people that I worked with were friendly and were welcoming to any questions that I had regarding the task at hand.

Making sure I made a few mistakes as possible.

I thought it was friendly and welcoming.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
i show up, greet my colleagues, ask my supervisor what needs to be done, and procced to do so until the end of the day.

Work life balance and increased knowledge and learning opportunities

Not enough resources in education funding

Positive- people are supportive

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Structured and planned out a week ahead or a year in advance then mo they reviews.

Having worked for many years in the private sector, if found the work atmosphere and the handling of business, and management quite different.I believe that due to my experience, and knowledge, i could have been placed on a higher salary step, especially since i have personally spearheaded, major upgrades to their system. but overall because of working conditions, and great team spirit, it is a good place to work.

Most corrupted place I’ve ever worked.  A bunch of butt kissers who will back stab anybody just so they can get ahead with their own career.  This school board should be abolished as suggested by our Québec government.  Don’t forget about the corruption scandal back in 2012/2013...

What is the best part of working at the company?
I love my co-workers. We work as a team. I love working and being around children. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I'm not a person who stresses easily. I can't say that I have experienced it in my work.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's a great place to work.  There is not much that I would have changed.

Love working with the other maintenance crew members.  There is never a day when you aren't doing something.  It's great to interact with the kids at the schools during the day and also have your own time to work independently in the evenings.
