A hotel management company, great working environment, fast paced, with a focus on finance for for the different properties, although they also handle marketing and renovations etc. So many different aspects to this industry and its interesting to learn how they are all inter-related. The managers and staff are great, very personable people - very approachable and always willing to give assistance or guidance. The staff make an effort to interact socially as well as professionally with group lunches, participating in social events - the Social Committee always makes a point of making the Christmas Party fun and exciting as well as events over the summer. Occasionaly, at the end of a quarter, we would have to put in some extra time to make sure everything was ready for the Financial Reports. The most enjoyable part of this job, like most jobs, is the people! They bend over backwards to help you when you need it, help you celebrate the good times and comfort and support you through the hard times.

A typical day at work is working half or a whole floor to yourself sometimes then getting to do a few rooms on another floor and getting sent home after your done your rooms. I believe I learned is to stand up for yourself in the workplace. Management was absolutely horrible had zero sense of what was actually going on in the hotel and believed the lies the supervisors would tell management and not caring what the staff member had to say for themselves. Management was hard to talk too and made me feel very uncomfortable upon coming in to the office . Management also has a lack of communication with the staff. Management had the supervisors running directly to management to get you written up over the smallest mistakes instead of telling the housekeeper she missed something in the room to go back and fix your mistake. Workplace culture is very toxic with lots of bad attitudes gossip and drama. The hardest part of my job was working with management and supervisors who would set their staff up to fire them instead of actually communicating mistakes made in rooms to the staff. The most enjoyable part of my job was working independently. 

Here are some highlights of how I have contributed to the department and the company in the past 6 months: 
•	Continue to service 406 regional accounts worth almost 5 million dollars to our region.
•	Maintained relationships with extremely valuable clients to ensure their loyalty remains with Westmont, keeping revenues from these contracts at over a $1. Million. 
•	Partnered with several sales team members to attract new business and new marketing opportunities. 
•	Developed over 25 relationships with new accounts which have the potential to produce over $450,000 in revenues. 
•	Participated in and attended numerous professional meetings and trade shows increasing the visibility of the company within the industry. 
•	Mentored and helped train all GM’s and property staff on new Building Relationship Sales Initiative.
•	Completed all new tasks and assignments when requested to do so.

A typical day at work involved daily income report, room statistics, payroll issues, payable, receivables, food and beverage, dealing with department managers, fitness club, parking, disputes, etc.

I learned to treat people with respect the way i was treated. My co-workers are probably the best and were the most important team members.

I was a member of the executive committee, and met once a week to discuss with the most important issues dealing with personnel, finances,expenses, capital assets, renovations, budgets, room occupancy, forecasts, etc

The hardest part of the job was to ensure financial statement were provided on timely and accurate basis by the end of the month.

The most enjoyable part of the job was working with great people who were hard working, loyal, trustworthy and helpful.

I have been with this company for many years and progressed in my career within the company. I do see that those with good attitudes fit in well with this environment. Some days could be long, and there may be the occasional office politics but you will find these things in many workplaces. The corporate office is a friendly, and warm environment where most build real friendships and employees work well together. The environment is encouraging and welcoming. It is more of a laid back environment then some corporate offices. Employees work hard and take pride in their work and benefit from the trust the company puts in its employees. I would recommend working with the company, and would have no interest in leaving.

A typical day at Westmont is starting the day with email review and having telephone conversation with the General Managers on urgent issue requiring resolution. Also to review the general ledger and pass adjusting entries to correct miscodings. I learnt how to use the accounting software and work with colleagues professionally and with love. The hardest part of the job comes at month end but with better training from the seniors you are sure of handling the tasks within the set time frame which also includes tax filling.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the good atmosphere and the people at work place. You cannot differentiate between your home and the workplace.

Since I have joined the Westmont Hospitality Group, I have had the opportunity to grow my career. At times there were challenges, but that is the case with any job. What I have found in the past few years, is that Westmont Hospitality Group has really been working hard to improve on its service culture not only to its guests that visit’s it properties but its employees across Canada. If you are looking for a place of employment to hand you everything on a silver platter then you are looking at the wrong company. If you are looking for place that will give you the opportunity to grow by giving you chances to put your style on it with hard work and prove yourself, then I would strongly recommend giving Westmont Hospitality Group some serious consideration as your next place of employment.

Hired with the expressed expectation that Commission, Incentives, Bonus were all achievable. Even with a work day of 10 to 11 hours these numbers were unattainable. Even after setting top 20 and top 10 sales/closing numbers in Canada, these numbers were unattainable. Management spent 10 months promising to readjust and reset these numbers to today's hotel industry market - after the oil business crashed. These promises were never met, and our entire department was closed down prior to the one year anniversary!

Working with a kind and supportive manager who acknowledges good work!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sometimes when laundry load is more than a one person job and there’s no one to help  around , it is physically exhausting.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Like a family , everyone appreciates each other’s works. Every one works hard and respect each other. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Lots of laundry waiting to be washed and then fold.

- A typical work day starts in the morning and closes after 8 hours of work.
- each day I learned new stuff in my field, with my system, rules of government, customer behaviour patterns etc
- Good Management with flexibility in working time
- Co-workers and like a family and we work well as a team.
- getting signatures from bossess ontime due to thier busy meeting schedules.
- Work at your pace within the rules of the organization and the within the time frame.
