Great place to work! The manager is the best manager I’ve had. He’s flexible, friendly, a team player, and he displays a terrific example of leadership.

The staff were also very friendly. It’s a tight knit store, and we all got along very fast. Everyone on the team is extremely supportive and they’re very patient. You can always count on them to provide a helping hand when you need it. I never once felt like I was being punished for making a mistake.

You’ll end up learning all about construction material and equipment which can be pretty useful.

I forgot the employee discount rate but it was really good if you ever needed to buy anything for your self.

You get pto and sick days, there’s also good benefits included with this job.

Hardest part of the job was that there is a bit of heavy lifting involved but as I mentioned before, the staff are more than willing to help. It was a very safe work environment. Not once have I felt in danger of hurting myself.

The pay rate is great for the job.

Amazing place to work 10/10!

A typical day begins at 8 am and ends at 5 pm. The first task of the morning is segregating goods that arrive from the Distribution Centre (DC), into those for stock and presold to customers, based on a manifest provided. Once this is completed, deliveries to customer locations are planned for the day, based on customer orders. Documentation, including Delivery Notes and Driver sheets are prepared and deliveries effected at various customer locations. Time permitting, attending to walk in customers and merchandising at the store. The store is managed by the Branch Manager, with the Supervisor assisting him in various tasks as required. I had a coworker, whose duties were service walk in customers and inventory   management. The most enjoyable part of the job was that I was busy for all the 8 hours. The toughest part of the job was working to very strict deadlines. The most important thing I learnt on this job was to work under extreme pressure.

I recently joined White Cap and have been thoroughly impressed with the company's commitment to excellence and teamwork. The work environment fosters growth and innovation, making it an ideal place for career development. Management is supportive and encourages open communication, which enhances productivity and employee satisfaction. I am proud to be part of a team that values integrity and strives for continuous improvement. Bad management with an excessive amount of managers. 
None are helpful or want to hear employee concerns.  There is no independent thinking, lower level managers are too eager to please senior management. 
They bought the company I work for and the changes have not been positive. I’ve  tried vocalizing concerns but they are blatantly dismissed. 
This company is so full of bureaucracy nothing gets accomplished.
Most of my colleagues are frustrated and lack confidence in our new leadership. Many are seeking employees elsewhere. 
If I had to give a positive, the benefits are good. That would be the only reasoning to even give them one star. 

Very dirty office and warehouse conditions.
Extremely busy and outdated office equipment.
Learned about fasteners and tools and much pricing and quoting of product both standard and custom.
Privately owned at the time with poor leadership.
Co-workers were all pleasant but most were looking for alternate employment.
Very heavy lifting and very dusty, dirty conditions.
Large customer base and met many customers through open houses.

Calgary location
If you like being micro managed at every level, treated with a lack of respect , in a very dysfunctional work environment  then you've found your place. Don't look for your 2 x 15 min breaks .

The Word TEAM gets used a lot but often just for the benefit of the new guys, no pull through.

No reflection on the Company or Organization , always found other Branches  / Employees to be helpful.

I take no pride in writing this negative review but want any prospective job seeker to go in with their eyes open. 

It is a good jumping off point if you’re interested in sales. Hours of work are nice no weekends. For the most part branches are usually  understaffed resulting in miscommunication and errors. High pace and high stress. Because of the lack of workers your are likely not going to be trained properly or to the point where you are comfortable.


Nepotism,nepotism and more nepotism. 

If you want to do more work than you were told with no raise or very minimal 20 cents. Get blamed for other people’s mistakes, do orders for the outside sales reps and receive no commission. 

Constantly multitasking, and they keep adding to your workload but don’t increase your salary. You are expected to sell, pick, pack your orders and also the OSR’s orders to, while doing walk-in’s, phone orders and email orders. I have two hernias from lifting heavy orders. My father passed away and this company didn’t even give me a card, not a word nothing. You are just a number to them.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Honestly when they took over many aspects of the business went downhill. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Knowing that being a USA company that they would close many stores down. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Unpredictable and always left in the dark.
