A good place to work if you are a tradesperson looking to get their foot in the door. Mostly good people who are easy to get along with. 
Communication and transparency from management down is very poor. If you are the type of person who dislikes frequent surprises then steer clear, as this is a workplace that frequently rides by the seat of its pants and likes to make big decisions on the fly. Turnover and employee retention are critical issues that need to be addressed. 

This company pays reliably and starting wage for labour is about $24 per hour at 40 hours per week. Benefits are very good. The company is unionized. New employees should expect shift work ranging from medium to heavy physical demands. This is a noisy work environment with 10 or 12 hour shifts. Temperature ranges from very cold in winter to very hot in summer. Shifts alternate for most jobs between nights and days weekly. White River does not have a lot of organized recreation, but is ideal for fishing. The town is on Highway 17 between Marathon and Wawa, and is accessible by rail or bus from Sudbury. 

Low pay for an industrial job.
Management looks for any excuse to extend probation period beyond the normal 60 working days.
Both the sawmill supervisor and superintendent were repeatedly working union positions without making any effort to fill with other employees or do call ins.
Quarterly meetings consisted of management complaining to the workers about sub 50% production efficiency and offering no solutions beyond "work harder".
HR always absent and notoriously slow to deal with even simple tasks, like posting job bid results.

Great people, small community, good organization 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Isolation can be a problem as you are 3 hours away from any large city.

Pretty amicable as I still communicate with many people I met there.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Taking care of my maintenance crew.

A typical day at work requires standing in one spot for a ten hour work day period .with random switching of job duties.moral was usually okay but I was not impressed by the way they handled my rate of pay.I advanced from level one beginner to level three wood room boss without any pay increase

The owner was a nice gentleman interested in his mill, but the partner was just interested in himself & since he was in charge of the engineering side he did not like anyone standing up to him regarding job & planning so that was the reason they changed so many chief engineers 

Overall really good place to make money. Good location in town. Easy to rank up if you don’t mess up. Some really good people there and some really bad like anywhere else. But overall was a good happy experience 

Great group of people from the lead hands right to the president always engaging. Pay is about average 7/7 schedule is great for life balance. A lot of best guys ever work there.

I will start at 7am to broom saw dust and make it into a big pile then wheel barrel it into the coldness of -30. this job wasn't fun or pleasing at all. it was only a weekend job.

Busy productive work place that was professionally managed.  The workplace was friendly,  very physically demanding,  the most enjoyable was breaks, and safety meetings.
