Whitney Child Centre

This daycare has such a lovely group of children. The fact that it is in a tdsb school also makes it interesting as everything is pretty dynamic. However, in terms of mental health, I'd say this is not a good place to work at. The last supervisor was such a kind person, so understanding and flexible, but after she went on a mat leave everything went downhill. There is no respect , no praise, no trust and absolutely zero support from the board of directors, who seems to be just an entitled group of people in a power trip. 

I started at Whitney as a volunteer when you could do that. I was a nanny and my child went for preschool. I decided taking the ECE program was where I could start a new path. I was hired before I graduated and started May 1988 and retired June 2019. I wouldn’t have lasted that long if I went into a normal Centre. With all the time off we had you got recharged. Working for the City or School Boards might give you a pension, which now I see that would have been very beneficial to finances now.

The children and families we work with bring immense joy and fulfillment to our efforts. Their presence and involvement are the highlights of our work, as we witness firsthand the impact we have on their lives. Their resilience, curiosity, and eagerness to learn inspire us to continuously strive for excellence. We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their journey and to contribute to their growth and well-being.

TOXIC WORK ENVIRONMENT. This company used to be a great company to work for until management changed. Everything has gone downhill. Staff are stressed, overworked and unappreciated. Management does not listen to any staff concerns and act as if they want to create a “positive” work environment. This is far from positive. I do NOT recommend this workplace to anyone based on personal experience. 

A stimulating and engaging environment. The staff are qualified educators who are awesome to work with. The company itself is also really professional and has the structure and organization that parents are looking for when searching for high quality care. Compassionate and supportive team & management. Overall, it's been a great experience at WCC!

I’ve just started working at this centre and I have had such a great experience. The kids are just the sweetest! Everything is up to date, rooms are all supplied with everything the children need! The staff is so supporting and encouraging. They are always ready to help or step in when needed! I couldn’t have asked for a better work environment 

Great area, families and children. However work environment is toxic… lots of favouritism ever since management changed. The previous supervisor was amazing but after she left on mat leave, the centre turned upside down. Staff are overworked and under appreciated causing heavy stress. 

My daughter started this winter and I had a great experience with the whole centre. The staff is excellent in making sure I felt as comfortable as possible. Registration was a breeze and she loves it. Thank you to the amazing staff! 

The centre is situated within a public school, providing a convenient and accessible location for families. The staff at the centre are known for their kindness and support, creating a welcoming environment for children and parents alike. 

Overall, Whitney Child Centre has a great vibe. The board of directors always responds well to suggestions within the centre. The staff work well together and the children receive the care they need. I highly recommend this centre for childcare.
