Whole Leaf

I worked as a Robot Operator and there is no thanks from upper management for all the hard work that you do and the extra work they put on you that has nothing to do with the job you are given. They've cleared out the place by hiring management that has no idea what they are doing and implementing things that make no sense. A lot of the work is unsafe due to mold and rust and the foundation sinking. A lot of grunt work and mandatory overtime to do what management wants done. Very hard to get a pay raise and you're paid unfairly for what you do. Managers will talk behind your back and spread rumors about you and don't overly care about you. If you can't stay for mandatory overtime, managers will talk behind your back. 

I worked there for just over 6 months. Management was great at first, they hired a new supervisor and everything went downhill. Morale dropped, poor ethics, at one point witnessed a supervisor swearing at an employee because of a language barrier. 

Hours are unpredictable and you never know if you're going to work 4 hours or 12. Got offered a different position that paid more but after doing the work for this position, never got a pay increase and never got my benefits that were promised after 6 months. 

Not a bad place to work if you don't mind staying in the same position. Good temporary job.

The work itself is not too bad, and most people that I've worked with were great. The main problem at whole leaf is the upper management. They will fire people left and right, without any explanation. At my time there, multiple managers, and most people that I worked with when I started either left or were fired. If you work here, expect to be fired at some point, even if you did not do anything wrong. Overtime is not an option, but is mandatory if you want to keep your job. Management does not appreciate you and from their own words "Anyone is replaceable". They will threaten to fire you for any mistakes you make, and I always felt anxious when they were around.

My time working at wholeleaf was only a good experience 
because of my coworkers, those who were on the line. Once management brought in a new assistant director, things went badly. It turned into a enviroment of toxic management looking down on the people doing the work. You can't have a secured job working for wholeleaf. I did everything I was told to do and everyone there loved me for it, it was purely the new management brought in. Seems alot like nepotism in the workplace.

Decent job, decent work for pay compenastion. Inclusive and diverse work environment.Forward thinking company that is constantly improving and adapting. A secure job that was a blessing during the COVID outbreak and the uncertsinty surrounding it.

The work is pretty easy for the most part, there is opportunity to get paid overtime (especially during the summer), and most coworkers are friendly and hardworking. Management has improved a lot over the years and promotes from within whenever possible. The hardest part of the job is the early start times and irregular hours. The most enjoyable part of the job is the clean facility, the view of all of the lettuce in the greenhouse, and the people I work with.

Its very hot  and if you go under to remove all the leaves

Cleaning and spraying using the hose

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Maybe if its winter time coz its not hot to work

Pay at Whole Leaf is at least 10% lower than any other processing facility in the province. They pay little or no overtime. Also are not open to any suggestions to prevent them from growing moldy lettuce. If you try to make suggestions they fire you. Work conditions are poor both mentally and physically with water laying everywhere and no proper cleaning of the facility. It’s a health nightmare. 

I’ve worked for whole leaf for about 10 months at first it was ok... some of the people I worked with were amazing but management is very poor they have 0 disregard for employee safety I have all sorts of scars and bruises and back problems cause they refused to listen to my safety concerns and after 8 months no raise no performance review do not work for whole leaf..... it’s a horrid place.

I have worked at Whole Leaf for almost 2 years now. The work is not easy work but if you put in the time and the effort to do a good job you will be rewarded. To work here you definitely need a certain level of dedication and patience towards your work. All of the people here are really nice and fun to be around.
