I have never worked for such a poorly lead company in my life. For all they hype and raw raw bs that they try to introduce nothing is carried through with. The only ones to get these pins etc. that your supposed to be rewarded with are only for the supervisors friends and people that suck up to the manager. 
This company does not hear the worker only the lies that the manager tell them and they believe. They do not ask the workers how things are going or is there any concerns with how things are being done or even if they have any suggestions to improve things. They don't care about the worker only the bottom line. I enjoy working and have even put up with being lied to over looked for a promotion, disciplined for helping customers by talking to them and showing them customer service. Penalized for this and being written up. In all I find that the management likes to hire their own family and give them choice supervisors roles. Friends of their kids to benefit themselves or their children with the employee referral program. Which have been covered up. As far as salaries, they are unfair and seem to be regulated by which Province you are in. 
It seems that Loblaw's throughout Canada is having the same problems in almost all of their stores. Ours is no exception unfortunately no one cares to listen to the workers complain but at least we can vent or frustrations. I do my job well and do not need any supervisor that doesn't know what they are doing tell me how to do something they know nothing about.

-- Schedules sucks!! They can post the schedule, BUT change it anytime. They post it on a Monday BUT it's not official till the following Wed. Most other workplaces, once they post a schedule, that's it!! Not this job! So if you need a SET schedule once posted, this won't work for you. 
-- A lot of heavy lifting to be expected. Can be quiet and boring at times,
-- There were moments cashiers were chatting away, and my line got longer and longer, all while the other 2 cashiers ignored this and kept talking.
-- They have a area for smokes,  the door can lock on you if  your not careful. There is a button for you to press if you get locked in,  What I hated was when I took a little to long to find the smokes a customer wanted, they would help themselves inside and lock up both of us in there.   
-- I understand the layout at the cash but I hated how customers could be in front of you, others would behind you. It is very easy to get confused who is next sometimes!! 
-- There was one cashier who made me feel so unwelcomed when she refused to help and made it sound like I can't ask anyone for help.
-- 3 different cards to remember before you go through with the transaction 
Its a OK job but not worth it if you need a SET schedule and everyone is taking care of customers, not just you! Also you need to be able to be very active.  It can also be very boring at times, if your the type that needs to keep being busy, this may not be the job for you.

There's almost always a group effort with the other cashiers and other departments no matter how busy it could be. There is a bit of nepotism, but most people are extremely hard-working, charismatic and kind. There were some fun work events/parties. Management is okay. Most people in management are emphathetic and easygoing, but some are not so much. For those who aren't, it was pretty clear that they favour some people, which is fine. But, if they're in charge that day, it was difficult to rely on them. 

Not only does it feel like you aren't fully part of the team, communication isn't consistent. The first month I worked, there were no customers, so I stood there unsure what to do. Then one of the management team told me that I need to "look busy" in a demanding manner, so I do. However, I haven't seen that same person enforce that to all of the cashiers. Instead what ends up happening is that they talk to them, typically unrelated to work, until it gets busy again. 

Typical shift consisted mostly of pulling stock to the front and putting it out between helping customers. If stock was finished or arrived late, cleaning and working through overstock were considered priorities. Not much break time.
Learned how to use manual and powered pallet jacks, most functions of RF gun, ordering, and organization.
Management was generally supportive, but often out of touch with actual conditions in store. Poor scheduling and labor management led to impossible workloads, ordering was haphazard at times.
Co-workers were commiserative, some always jaded, some always peppy. Work environment was usually supportive, at least in regards to the work itself.
Hardest part of the job was either the balancing of customer service with making sure the product was actually available to the customer, or dealing with overstock and ladders. Exhausting.
Most enjoyable part was working alongside coworkers and collaborating with them to get things done faster and cleaner.

Starting out at this workplace I had a lot to learn about it's inner machinations but with the guidance of my superiors and the friendly demeanor of my fellow colleagues, this never felt like too large a task to undertake. 

Both getting tips from other colleagues as well as experimenting to find faster and more productive methods of working the floor and accomplishing my tasks has been a challenging but interesting task in itself. 

The hardest part of the job if you're starting out is meeting the output goals, which can seem daunting at first but will slowly get easier if you're willing to apply the elbow grease.

Would recommend to anyone who enjoys physical activity in their daily schedule.

I didn't work with customers to much but the task work was VERY busy and quite stressful. I would recommend hiring more staff for that department for how busy it was. 2 days out of the week were slow but was nice to catch up on other things. I liked what I was doing, it was fun for me, but also just to stressful on certain days. The work place culture was one of the best work environments I've ever been apart of. I miss it very much. Management and co-workers were all so very friendly and praised special occasions and events accordingly. My manager gave me a great schedule and I had requested days off. It's a great beginner job. Pay isn't the greatest for how much work there is but the work environment kind of made up for it.

If you want to work at a dead end job with no opportunity for advancement then by all means, apply! Other than that, the place is a joke. Management is pathetic and they don't know how to run a store. Customers are always complaining that there's no product in stock.. blame that on the incompetent management they have. If you are a good employee you will be treated like dirt and if you suck at your job you will be rewarded. That's how it works around there in every department. Always short staffed too because nobody wants to be there, so that's another plus! Nothing really enjoyable about the place, a lot of customers are inconsiderate and they own convenience stores so that makes them better than you. The hardest part of the job is going there and the best part is leaving.

Horrible management. Absolutely left on your own with no training. Way too much stress. Management constantly talks behind everyone's backs. No staff morale. I started with this store after 25 full time years at a competitior so I know what is expected. There was no training. Management promised the world to get me to sign,  but failed to deliver in a massive way. It was the worst decision I've ever made. Everything was a complete lie and after 6 weeks I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I work at another company now and realize just how poorly that store is run. The employees are very knowledgeable but the management needs to go. If you consider this store for employment be warned. Run.

Do not recommend. They expect too much from people who get paid minimum wage with zero benefits and changes to grow. If you work a 8.50 hour shift you get a unpaid 30min lunch which is normal. But you don't get paid for the .20 you work, they'll only pay you for 8h. They also make you do other departments work and understaff you in the mornings so if you work mornings you have to help customers, unload delivery, cash register, fix displays, unload trucks and PC express all while doing it alone for your department. And they also will not accommodate your availability and make you work 8-10 shifts at a time. Do not waste your time here.

Depending on the day determines what my duties will Intel. When I work in the cash office I am responsible for opening the store from the day, do the morning and afternoon deposits, do bank deposits, generals, as well as payroll, and the invoicing for the day. If I am being just a cashier then all the what  is expected of me is to help customers. Cash them out. If I am being a Front-End relief supervisor then I need to close the store, as well as relieve other cashiers for breaks. Do refunds as well as the cigarette cage. Customer Service. The most enjoyable part of my job is the people I work with as well as the customers, as this can also be the most difficult part of my job at times.
