Wilco Contractors Northwest Inc.

Very disorganized and a family run business. Is very segregated and judgemental.  Lots of skilled employees who are routinely exploited then gaslighted by weak management.  Training support is good and they pay for it if they approve, except if it involves anything outside online courses on their training management program that cost money, and ignore critical safety.   (I literally begged them to even just give me paid time to do the 1st aid course, and I would pay for the course...nope).   The company glows with safety promises, but fails in the field (they literally go through safety officers like underwear)because the SOs quit with the understanding of their possible liability for such things the field staff are expected to do.
They were almost always friendly, and the field staff are confusingly loyal.
Wilco will not care about you and your sacrifices to help them, they are productivity based, safety compliant (not always good at it), and ruthless.
I would not work for them again, as I was always deeply concerned about my exposure to litigation  if I did not perform my tasks for any reason, I was at fault.  Not a good working atmosphere.
whomever you are reading this...WilCo isn't a stable employment, and not worth putting any effort to shine.  Advancement is based on nepotism.

They were straight forward and honest with pay. For the industry, the wages are competitive. However, the caveat is that the  work is mind-numbingly dull most of the time. Days usually consist of one task typically with no variety: Sifting out potato rocks before installing sod, laying acres upon acres of sod, raking out multiple dump truck loads of mulch by hand, weed whipping all day with no breaks, planting dozens of the same type of tree, installing kilometers of snow fence etc,. Some of the foremen were unsure of what to do with their labour and delegated useless tasks to their subordinates  to 'keep busy.'

The final standard of quality for much of the finished work seemed to be unimpressive and almost amateur looking. I suppose that for the scale of most of these commercial projects that is to be expected to a degree.  And parks do take some time to establish.

Some of the foremen were childish and engaged in petty one-upmanship behaviors. Mistakes made by individuals are publicly aired for all to see. A culture of putting people down whilst pumping one's own tires was common unfortunately. Some foremen rose above such behaviours and were good to work for. 

Ownership and head supervisors were respectful and courteous in my experience, albeit reserved.  You are treated as a grunt until you can operate machinery proficiently. Then you can advance rapidly if you can stomach the boredom. 
The higher ups definitely have a vision to expand the company. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Wilco has grown immensely since I joined the company in 2006 and with commitment to the company I have been able to grow as well. I feel I have been compensated fairly for my personal situation. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
In my personal role there are long hours of isolation 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
As in why other construction related job, if you make the best of any situation and do your job as best you can the environment and culture are fine. If you are not prepared for demanding and fast paced job this is not the place for you. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
In my own position the days can start the day can start as early as 5am and end as late as dark but I am able to adjust the hours to compensate.

Although my experience with the company is limited since I just started, I see the culture is very pleasant and supportive.  I see the co-workers are very focussed on safety and support employees who show interest in advancing into other positions.  The company is very technology based, and seems at the leading edge for Asset Management technology with the Nektar software. 

  Being home every night is nice, overtime after 8 hours a day! Every season you get bran-new equipment. Lots of overtime,  6 work days a week during peak season but we can usually call it quit early on Saturdays. Lots of nice people in this company it is a pretty good work environment.
   If you don't mind operating equipment and doing a little labour work as an operator at times you will do very good with this company! I do recommend working for wilco contractors northwest! 

i had a good time working here enjoyable and respectful, long hours and long days but in the end it is worth it, cause you'll be getting a big pay-cheque and can build connections, the only part that is not good is the time when you get off work, you wont be able to do stuff casually such as going to the doctors at 4pm unless you book a appointment ahead of time or if you need to go to a certain store and it closes at 5 or 6 pm, work ends at 7 to 8pm

Safety is bad, employees smoke crack on site. Operators come in hung over and almost kill people. 
Management and safety officer and hr swear at employees on site. Publicly believe and abuse them. 
Basically if you work their they will under pay you to be with alcoholics and drug accidents and because your not you have to do your job plus theirs or you get fired. 
I quit well more like I just never returned. 
Run away for them. Your life is worth so much more.

Company is disorganized and run poorly

Trying to complete work without doing wrong the first time .
Nobody knows what to do

Toxic and stressful disorganized and doing the same task multiple times to complete

Long and stressful  painful to watch management organize and plan

I have found that with Wilco, you get what you put in. If you want to learn from industry leaders and work with a company that uses the latest technology and equipment, and leaders that genuinely want you to advance your career as well as providing you the tools to succeed, then you will love it here! It's why they have employees that have been with the company for 5-10-20 years!

Wilco is good company to work for the people are friendly and kind also it’s multiple cultures company everybody is welcome i learn lots sense I join the company I came as labour and now I did more improvements I’m able to work at any time and site because of the support I get from my team leader and supervisor every way I worked
