The old saying... "You get what you put into it" holds true for William Day Construction. If you put your heart into your work, try to understand the scope of your job and show you actually care, it will not go unnoticed.  Do your job poorly and show that you aren't interested in anything, then you won't be around very long and you will come on Indeed and give a poor review. I can guarantee that if you work hard, show supervision you are invested in your job and willing to help in any way possible, that you will naturally have a good experience.  

Working for William Day was probably the most dynamic job I've had to date...good and bad. You get it all... it's challenging, exciting and at times exhausting, but extremely rewarding.  There is literally NEVER a dull moment and your days fly by faster than you can imagine. I moved on to pursue other ventures, but leaving was a very difficult decision and I still miss the challenge and the people.

If you know in your heart that you always approach challenges with 100% effort, then you will find success at William Day. Sure there are exceptions...but not many.  If all you are interested in is the money and getting home at the end of the day/week, then you won't last very long.  If you jump in with both feet then you will be rewarded with personal growth, great friendships and a long career with an exceptional company.

ive been with day several years . was hurt on the job it’s been over a year . when i was working there it was very challenging cause i had to change the way i thought .. If you want to succeed at what you do , if you want safety to be apart of working and thinking this is the place to be ! if you were thought the old way the cowboy way where injuries were high this is not the place for you . i am part of that cowboy culture and when i came on board i had some hard moments not because the job , not cause of supervisors and management . I t was my thinking , my outlook on life , home , and people . It had to change in order to be successful in a competitive environment that expects your best on and off the job . It’s about getting home safe to your loved ones and friends . My thinking was about me and not the man i worked next to , The Day way angered me off and i wanted to quite 
cause safety wasn’t apart of my thinking . it was get r done and chase the money .. The Day way as i use it like a clichez means do things right the first time , take your time doing it be on top of your game , turn your work position as importance and watch how much the company will give you every opportunity to better yourself at what u want to be if ...... if your serious and show the desirer .. yes i had bad days and yes they rained trouble  on me a few times some i deserved and some i didn’t . but the bad days looking back we’re good and the people involved were and are good people there that desirer to succeed ..

A typical day at work was showing up at 8 and breaking concreate, or halling it out of the building to the garbage bins. anchoring angle iron to the side of a brick wall so it can support sheets of sheet metal to hold the cement that was getting poured for the new concreat stairs that we were putting in to, or on the small stripe mall. What I learned was a little bit of every thing but some stuff was just coming back to me I did a lot of this stuff before growing up so I probably didn't learn a hole lot. The job was just taking out old fall or decaying cement stairs, and replacing them with new ones. Management was good I had nothing wrong with it, it was just a small job. I'm waiting for some one to hire me on a bigger steady job or company, and then maybe I'll be able to judge the management of the company or job. My co-workers were good I never really had a problem with them. The hardest part of the job halling broken pecies of concreate out of the building, even though that wasn't very hard. The most enjoyable part of the job was anchoring the angle iron to the wall, putting in the sheet metal for the cement to sit on top and solidify. Anything that involved using you head and you had to think about was alway challenging and enjoyable.

Worked for Day for a few years back in the  90's and left to try something new. I came back years later realizing how good of a company Day Construction is. Family oriented business and you are treated with great respect.The only downfall is the shift work but most of their contracts serve the area Mining Giants which operate 24/7. Very good salary and excellent benefits if you have a family. Supervisors are all well trained in all aspects of Supervision so I never had any problems with any of my Supervisors. If discipline is required, it is done in a very respectful way. The equipment that I drove was always in very good condition and if was defective, my boss would tell me to leave the truck there and was instructed to take another one. Day is not a perfect company but I found that they strive everyday to be better than the competition. The greatest asset to this company is their hard working , dedicated employees and I was very proud to be a part of their team. Would definitely recommend applying to this company.

Back when I first started, this company was amazing to work for. Very understanding, knowledged, safe and all the right types of busy. But over the last few years it has just gotten worse and worse. To the point of being unbearable and quite frankly, a joke...Empty promises of raises, promotions and training. Toxic management, that turns a blind eye to many issues. Horrible communication all around. Along with horrible equipment maintenance, if any. Very little concern for workers well being, both physcially and mentally. They appear to only now focuse on every penny they can save by cutting corners, hours and even going so far as intentionally understaffing and over working those that tolerate it, that didn't get laid off yet. 
And if you're a person of color, Indigenous or a member of the LGBTQ+ community... I would recommend avoiding the "old boys club" this company has turned in to with their "far behind the times" mindset and treatment of their staff. 
Bill would be ashamed of what this company has become in the past 6 years since his passing. 

I had just started with this company and enjoyed it! In the first week of employment I had a massive family medical emergency! I had to take a few days off when they (Day Construction) Told me to come back to work i phoned them and they kept telling me to call them the next day finally I get a call on Tuesday from management saying that they were sorry for jerking me around and that i was placed on temporary layoff!!! Really? Then they call me back for work and i had a personal family matter (My wife) emergency come up I then get a call today stating i am on permanent layoff! Also there is no communication between management and employees training is poor at best and all your co-workers tell you to do your job different then how you were trained! Unless you are in the inn crowd you are not accepted!

Not a great place for inexperienced. They hire anyone and train on site but they will pair you with other new employees to train you and it's very inadequate. They expect you to be competent for production work in less than a week. 

Safety is NOT at the top of their list.

My advice for anyone applying for this place, and keep in mind that other current employees have told me the same, take all the training this company can provide for you and go work somewhere else. 

Condescending management. Unsafe work practices. Awful training. Rude staff. If life is more important to you than selling your soul to a company, then stay away.

The company it’s self is great to work for. Benefits are great, pay is ok but could be better. Hours are good unless you get stuck on a 6/3 schedule which then you have no life outside of work. The coworkers are awesome and sure to make your day go by fast! Very safety oriented company. 

Management is horrible! If your not apart of the “cool kids” don’t expect to advance in your position. Very cliquey! Poor attitude towards women. Some of the supervisors will blatantly lie to your face or throw you under the bus to make themselves look better. Management likes to think they can get away with anything.

The workload is heavy, but the environment is toxic. Training is almost non-existent; they frequently send employees to sites without proper inductions and have people with only one month of experience training new hires. The operators are consistently disrespectful, making a stressful job even worse.

Most concerning are the safety practices. I was told not to lock out equipment unless a supervisor was present, which is a major hazard. To top it off, management is dishonest. I would not recommend working here if you value your safety or mental health

I had high hopes for the opportunity I was given, unfortunately I was wrong to have placed any confidence in the company. 

Management talks about being there to help you succeed, but they do absolutely nothing when it comes to answering questions, or providing clear instruction. 

Training was very poor, it lacked clear guidance, and questions were often met with contempt. 

The company is a revolving door that cuts hours and offers wages that fall short of the effort they expect from the workers both in the field and at the shop. 

Safety is not a top priority with the company, either.
