This used to be a great place to work until the last few years. 
Management's sole focus is on the  numbers that make them look good. Perhaps then they can justify paying themselves higher.

Never mind about the impact on patient care or staff, those are not important at all. So, don't believe all the public proclamations of its services. Talk to Insiders and patients to get the truth. Brampton Civic Hospital has been in the news for patient deaths more so than other hospitals for good reasons.

Management, managers and directors (don't know if this initiative is from the executives), pushes employees to cut corners to meet targets. If you try to stand up to it, management will make life miserable for you. I have seen outspoken employees being shuffled out to roles that they are not trained or given work schedules that they could not live with. Many of them, to avoid breakdowns, just quit. If you go on mat leave and you are one of the outspoken one, don't expect to get back to your old job. Management will find a way to force you to resign.

This is how management thinks of staff. Management monitors every movement you make. The hospital has a clock in system that is similar to that in use by Dollarama. You get dock or being late even for a minute.
If you call in sick three times in a year, you are put under 'supervision'. for 12 months. They think that you are skiviing if you are sick three times in a year.

I am glad to be retiring soon. Can't put up with the bs. Work here at your own risk. They force you to do things their way, yet when something goes wrong, they will make you the scapegoat. Read between the lines of the cases reported in the news and you can see what I mean.

This is NOT an organization that you want to work in. It needs a complete shakeup of the entrenched senior executives

Was a productive and fun work place at first bet as the years went by it became more about who did what and who didn't do what.

Walking around finding fault with Nurses without investigation.  There are bullies and critics,  unrealistic and don't have much experience in nursing.
Overall I love my job and I've done lots and felt good. but I had to leave since I've hurt myself so badly and then I felt unwanted and pushed away.  I could have stayed if I was offered a less physical position.  I did not felt I got the support I needed since my injuries were due to my physical heavy lifting job. There's no PSW on a nursing medicine unit and RNs have to give medical and treatment,  do blood work,  and do treatment, and admission and discharge. Also do the PSW work which is what the complains from family is all about.  However there are several family members sitting around the patients bed blocking the way and complaining about the patients gown is not clear enough ot the patients face need washing or doing a wet diaper change. So as per family diaper changes are more important that giving another patient oxygen or running an IV medication.  
At the end of it all nursing is not nursing.  There are daily abuse from family members that mostly screwed up your whole day and no one does anything about this.  This is in every medical facility.  When will they do something about this?

day begins with taking report from the previous nurse. day shifts and night shifts differ based on what needs to be done.
* Demonstrated a strong clinical performance by refining and acquiring skills in IV maintenance, blood glucose, oxygen therapy, nasogastric tube maintenance, enteral feeds, wound care, routine infection control practices, identifying fluid & electrolyte value, discharge teaching and strong demonstration of routine patient assessment skills
*Have developed an excellent understanding of diseases processes that are predominant in adult population and the various complications that arise in acute care. The ability to respond in an emergency situation in case of change in patient status and act appropriately when necessary  
*Learnt to practice safe nursing practice in all aspects of care while providing compliance with policies, procedures and infection control 
*Have the ability to provide client-centred care and health teaching to patient and families including but not limited to health education, discharge teaching and continuity of care in community

I found this volunteer job through one of my friend, and it was good starting. i Started to volunteer there when i was in Grade 10, and it was my first job too. 

I got a chance to meet different types of patients, and most of them are seniors. Most of the family do not come there and meet their parents when they are very ill. So, when they get free time, they start to talk about their kids, like how they raised them now they do not come here and know how we are doing is. So, i felt bad for most them them, after i done all my duties i always go there and spend time with them. 
On the other hand, my other duty is, i have to work in new born section, which is really cool. I got a chance to see brand new babies. Most of the mothers were going through so many pains, so i had to be really nice to them. 
Plus, all my co-workers were really awesome, all the Nurses helped me a lot to complete this volunteer job.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful parts of working at William Osler Health System include:
Heavy patient loads and occasional staff shortages.
Long, rotating shifts causing physical and mental fatigue.
Emotional strain from caring for very ill patients.
Rapid changes and high-pressure situations that demand quick adaptation.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is a friendly environment and place of cultural unification.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Always happy to contribute in my own little way and to be impactful.

A typical day at work would consist of cleaning, helping people in/out wheelchairs, walking with patients, talking to patients, and helping co workers with any given task.I learned a lot about oncology (cancer), rehab such as physiotherapist, and nurses. The supervisors on the unit are usually nurses or occupational therapists. I enjoyed working with the nurses the most because I love talking to and talking care of patients, including with elderly patients who need assistance with breakfast or lunch. The hardest part of the job is getting attached to the patients and watching them get sicker and pass away. You need to be emotionally strong to be a nurse. The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing the patients leave and go home being more healthier than before they came. Nursing is a career I'd love to pursue, it's a very rewarding job.

I came into William Osler to work as Spiritual Therapist Chaplain. It was an interesting place to work. We were Seven in our Department, and always ready to cooperate with each other to offer our services and cover our unit. The work environment was enabling, which made it possible for us to cope with the number of Patients we were expected to visit daily.
The Hospital was built about Eleven to Twelve years ago, and facilities to my own understanding is properly maintained, so using elevators and other facilities keep your day devoid of stress.
Payments were done every two weeks, and it was always regular. Another plus worthy of noting is that employees birthdays are marked by my Department, which means a good incentive to keep working with interest.
I finished working because I had to move on, but I will recommend William Osler Health System to anyone, who has got the opportunity to render services in this great hospital and institution.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
the management,the toxic environment the management especially in the laboratory crwated to the staff,the bullying ,mismanagement,waste kf resources due to inability of the leaders

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
toxic,too much bullying on the part of the Charge Technologist in the laboratory and despite of the higher management made aware of the behaviour they are bot doing anything.At Osler the peope in power are the rules even if what they do is for their own personal benefits(ie,working from home that does bot do the work instead doubg their house chores and going to personal appointments and making themselves unavailable when needed

What is a typical day like for you at the company?

I enjoy the interaction with the patients, being able to hear what William Osler Health System means to the community, were and what can be improved in the eyes of the community and being part of making change within the community.

Being part of a Team, working hand in hand with our Managers, to ensure we provide safe, compassionate care to our patients as we advise department heads where we need to improve as we strive to provide patient satisfaction and make William Osler Health System the top hospital in all of Ontario.

The most difficult part of the job is not being able to stay on the phone for hours with patients that just want to have someone to speak with because they are lonely, have no one visiting them and seam very compassionate and caring individuals who you managed to reach through communication.

Volunteering at William Osler Health System and William Osler Health System’s William Osler Health System (WHG) has been a truly rewarding experience. I enjoy being part of an environment where I can help others while also learning new skills. Through my roles, I have developed strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Interacting with patients, visitors, and staff has helped me become more confident and compassionate.

One of the best parts of volunteering here is the sense of community. Everyone is supportive, and I feel like my contributions are valued. Whether I am assisting with wayfinding or participating in the Healing Music Program, I know that even small actions can make a difference in someone’s day.

Overall, my experience has been positive and meaningful. It has inspired me to continue giving back and has strengthened my interest in healthcare and helping others.
