Williams Machinery is a wonderful place to work for. It is a very well-managed company with managers that care about their employees and want to see them improve and succeed. From my experience, all the managers here are understanding and are there to assist you if needed. Employees are extremely friendly and welcoming to new hires. One thing I love about this company is that it is all about the customer and their needs and guaranteeing that the customer is satisfied. I see this first hand every day. The company has very specific values and beliefs as part of its culture. Management holds meetings and events constantly to emphasize these values to all employees. You can tell management cares a great deal about their staff.

Employee engagement is an integral value that this company believes in. Williams Machinery is by far the funnest company I have worked for. I enjoy coming in to work and interacting with my fellow employees daily. We celebrate birthdays, work anniversaries and retirement functions, to name a few, by going for lunches and dinners. All year long, the company hosts potlucks, BBQ's and fundraisers to raise money for certain charities that Williams Machinery is involved with. I can't stress enough about the numerous company events and functions held here that allow for team building and for employees to become very good friends. I feel very much part of a team working at Williams Machinery!

Do not bother applying here as a service tech!!
This place is highly unorganized and poorly run. I can’t count the times I was sent out on service calls with diagnostic software that doesn’t work or you wait a minimum of a week for parts only to find they sent the wrong one(s). There are no experienced people left at this branch so nobody has any direction or training and there is zero accountability. Their yearly survey stats are taken across the whole of the company and not the Kelowna branch specifically and even if it was 3 of the 4 service technicians quit in the span of the last 4 months ask yourself why that might be. Low morale, poor communication, lack of necessary tooling and equipment, this place checks all the wrong boxes. If you’re in need of a paycheque while you’re waiting for something good Williams will do but a word of advice, there is a ton of good work in the valley and if you’re a good technician you won’t want to waste your time here, you will regret it.

When I started with Williams I thought this was a great company and at first it was. Then started to see that I did not know where I stood with the other sales reps (as there was no plan in place), and there was a lot of confusion/interference between certain territories and found that most of my leg work was being handed over to other reps. It's all a dogs breakfast, and this comes from the very top of the sales dept. There has been excessive turnover in the sales force, so there must be a reason for this. 
I would not advise any one either taking a job in sales for this company or leaving their present job for this company (you are just a number). If you are a mechanic by all means work for this company, you can say or do anything. 
Please no rebuttals, as I worked my butt off for this company and and wanted nothing more than to be a team player. All I seen was back stabbing and self protection. 
 

The company is well-known and well-established! Reasonable procedures, excellent safety culture. Half union, half non0union but the procedures and policies make the work paste fast enough. Work/life balance for the most part. Fun events and employee-led committees. Job security is huge as long as you work with integrity and contribute to positive working culture. If you want a career, here's the place you can go the ladder up. Different equipment brands and types does not get boring. Good work gets recognized and rewarded

I was hired right after university graduation in the accounting/finance team. The management provided useful training and career development for young professionals. I was given opportunities to work on multiple important projects to gain valuable hands-on industry working experience. The management also promotes work-life balance and employee health through some incentive program. In my department, my colleagues were really friendly and knowledgeable. We had a lot of team building events after work. Even after I left the company for over two years, I still kept in touch with them.

Avoid working for this company. 

The fact that this company has won best managed is a joke. 

Poor leadership across the entire organization, and one of the most disorganized companies I have ever worked for.

You are not valued as an employee, and they wonder why the morale of the place is so low. There is a high turnover at this place for a reason. The only people who have around are the senior technicians. Most of the younger people use it as a stepping stone to a better opportunity. 

Unionized workers are only there for a paycheck, and have a terrible relationship with management team.

Started as a shipper/ receiver with the company then moved into an apprentice mechanic role. Good management good co-workers. Pretty flexible with Vacation time. Good benefits. Work load was up and down sometimes leaving you with very little to do. Apprentice program was a little underwhelming as other places in town paid tuition and books and paid you full wage while in school with a bonus initiative if you got over a certain percentage in the class. Aside from that, would recommend. 

The parts team are great, when they do their job. More often than not I've found that the guy who's paid the most is doing the least amount of work.  I could go on and on and verbally bash ppl but why bother.  If everyone on this team had the same poor work ethics as the red seal nothing would get done. If you like correcting mistakes of other people ND like doing other people's jobs for not as much pay just so they can waste time and get away with it then this is the job for you!

The atmosphere there is very down in the dumps as the management team is overbearing, non trusting(you get thrown under the bus a lot) by your manager, the management there has never actually worked in this industry before and have no idea how to deal with customers properly. They protect people who are horrible technicians, but let the great ones go without a fight. They do offer a great training program when you beg enough to actually get it.

The sales team at Williams Machinery has been great. Management trusts their employees and gives autonomy over decisions. Workplace culture is great amongst teams for the most part, and employees are happy to be here. Training has seen some improvement which is where it had lacked in the past. Most enjoyable part of the job is working with different team members and management on a common task, and having the trust to take on different projects that affect our work.
