This is a horrible place to work. Policies change daily and depending on who you ask. For example, the manager may tell you to do something one way, but then the owner disciplines you for doing it incorrectly and wants it done another way. The next day the owner suddenly wants you to do it the way the manager told you the previous day, duh!

Schedules are often made on the day the work week begins and are often changed/updated many times during the week which makes childcare incredibly difficult.

Staff is forced to clock out for unpaid breaks THAT WE ARENT ALLOWED TO ACTUALLY TAKE. We are told that it is imperative we are certain we punched out for these breaks we don't actually receive because the labour board might make a surprise appearance to check the computers to make sure the staff is treated fairly smh.

Lastly, we forced to tip out a large amount (over 3% of our sales), which would be completely fine if that tip out was redistributed to kitchen staff, but that money goes straight to the owner's pocket, who does not participate in the daily work we do. Also, we have to tip out on takeout sales we do not receive tips on. This means that if you call in a takeout order or walk in the store and place a takeout order the server who takes your order is forced to pay the owner for the "privilege" of ringing in and packing that order.

Experience is valued at this workplace. However, inexperienced or rusty workers may find it more difficult to adjust to this fast-paced work environment.
Mornings are most busy but afternoons are usually dead.
Kitchen staff doesn't speak much English and tend to make-fun of newwer employees. Servers are required to give 03% of their tips to the kitchen.
Self sufficiency is very valued in this work place, however you are also expected to assist your coworkers and work quickly. Customer service is extremely important.
Servers often work alone during slow hours of the day. During this time you are expected to serve customers, maintain online orders as well as phone orders, do your side duties and maintain cleanliness. Servers are expected to bring their own float (change), apron and notebook.
I did personally enjoy working here. However the restaurant is losing business and goes through employees quickly. The other servers are friendly and do their best.

As a first timer in a working environment for more than a year, it's definitely been a fun ride along the way. Getting to know the regulars, trying to remember what they ordered last time and seeing smiles on people's faces as leave is quite rewarding. It's also nice when people ask how I am doing. I've gotten used to the juggling of doing a full restaurant and handling phone calls and takeout orders on my own as that's when you can grow! Learnt from my mistakes and thanked all those having to go through them with me. I truly love this restaurant and highly recommend it to a lot of my friends. It's got that diner feel when you could potentially meetup with your friends for milkshakes like in the olden days!!

Coworkers were fun people, no manager so many people not carrying their own weight, employer was very inconsiderate of his employees, must make this job your life because you are constantly needed and the stress of this job will follow you home, was called several times on any days off I had to come into work because boss could not get it together and schedule people accordingly. Was taken advantage of, schedule was constantly manipulated and changed after being posted so you can never make any plans. Owners are cheap and do not care about anything other than money. self managed diner had too many responsibilities for one person.

I worked here for around a year and a half. the managers were outstanding and cared for their employees. It was a very welcoming environment and a great starting opportunity. As most jobs in the service basis come there are rude customers, but the amount of regulars to semi regulars that we served there outstandingly outnumbered   the non regulars. Not only as a worker there but as a customer of many years before hand, they managers and employees hosted outstanding customer service as well as respect and exceeding well treatment of their employees. I heavily suggest this place as a great starting experience for those young looking for a job and experience as well as those who are maybe older in need of one.

We went to the restaurant this morning at the Wimpys Diner Restaurant in St Thomas. We had to ask the waitress multiple times for a glass of water which we ended up not receiving since the waitress forgot multiple times. We found the food to be very poor quality. Without being done our food the waitress came and took our food right away without asking if we were finished. Upon checking out I handed the waitress our receipt from the meal and the payment. The waitress then placed change on counter and said there you go. Found waitress to be very rude unprofessional and uncaring. We will think twice next time before returning to the restaurant.

Typical diner job, but with more meth heads. Have to carry your own float- if somebody walks out on you or you ring somebody in wrong it comes out of your own pocket. Management will try to guilt you out of sick time/time off, and will try to hold you responsible for things that are their responsibility (Mop sink in the back isn't caulked properly and will leak downstairs occasionally. There's a sign up from management threatening to hold employees financially accountable for damages.) Only 'perk' of working there is $5 off food, only on your shift, and only if you've worked at least 5 hours. Veeeery high turn over due to employees feeling disrespected.

I enjoyed my experience working at wimpy diner I learned how to correctly sanitize dishes,tables.bathrooms. I learned how to deep fry fries. A typical day at work here would involve cleaning dishes ,bathrooms and taking orders from customers. The people I worked with were very friendly they guided me through anything I was having trouble with. The hardest part of the job would probably be cleaning bathrooms. The most enjoyable part of the job would be interacting with customers and taking their orders.

I worked here for several years, I made life long friends and built relationships with my co-workers, management and even customers. If you are willing to work weekends that is when you will make majority of your money. Tips are very low but if you work full time you can make decent money. The environment is very friendly, the menu is simple to learn and the fast paced environment is easy to manage. You must have great communication and customer service skills in order to make the most out of your time and money.

The management at Wimpy's Diner in Bowmanville was incredibly disrespectful, uncooperative, and untrustworthy.
I had items stolen from the designated area they provided for my stuff. I had hours cut back out of an act of spite by management.
Lastly was left with remains of work from previous shift (which managers were working) and half the time to complete it while dealing with a dinner rush by myself.

It is family run business and if you are not related to this family they will not make it a pleasant experience by any means.
