I started my typical day in the kindergarten from giving all the kids and their families a warm and sweet greeting. Then I joined kids at different tables playing together and communicating with them, but always paying special attention to the girl I was supporting. If she was alone, I would go and play with her, trying to attract other kids to come and join us. If she was playing with others, I would try to take down something interesting they were talking about or playing. I would also help the other teacher do whatever was necessary to keep everything going well. 

I learned a lot from this work, including how to get along with kids and how to manage a kindergarten class. I have very good colleagues there, three teachers. They are all very nice, loving, caring and responsible to the kids and provide a very warm and sweet working environment for newcomers like me, a new immigrant. The most enjoyable part of the job is working together with those teachers, playing fun with all the kids.The hardest part is how to get the best of each kid and help them learn most while behaving themselves.

I have worked at this company for close to 15 years.  I have never once dreaded coming to work. I look forward to each learning opportunity and the mentorship that comes with it. Wind and Tide has a refined and structured teaching curriculum that makes learning and teaching new concepts to children just as exciting for the teacher as it is for the student. The environment is engaging, light-hearted, and exciting. Children leave our schools feeling loved, and respected, with the skills to give them a positive and solid foundation both in the public and private school system. 

I have always felt cared for. Although the company has grown exponentially since I joined, I've never once been lost as a number. People know you by name. They learn about you and are genuinely invested in your growth as a person, both inside the classroom and out. 


As a teacher, being able to work in a positive and engaging work environment with staff that want the best for their students is amazing. Every day is filled with a fast-paced learning environment. The students are happy and full of curiosity because of the classroom dynamics. Teachers work hard to adapt and create this positive and engaging environment. Your days are busy and full. The company provides the layout for the curriculum. Props, scripts, and monthly themed toys are all a part of the Wind and Tide culture.

The curriculum is rigid and created by the company  founders. The pay scale is low for the industry and for the  high expectations of the company. Hiding under the  guise of current government's wage enhancement is disappointing . They undervalue the ECEA’s paying them barely above minimum wage, but expecting them to perform the same duties as the lead ECE, minus paperwork and file  responsibilities. You have unpaid training you spend hours on, are expected to memorize scripts. 
The company/preschool/childcare is highly respected in the community and families love the programs. The families and children are of course the best part of the job! There are some wonderful staff at the locations I worked at. 

Wind and Tide hires its staff for the long-term. I have worked there for over 20 years and have felt so supported and cared for throughout my time there. I have never felt left out on my own and have always felt like I'm part of a greater team who has my back. They are fabulous at training and mentoring their staff and I feel that I have learned so much from my time with them. They have a team of administrative staff who support the teaching staff so well and take that kind of work off their hands so that teaching and loving the children can become the main focus of the teachers.

The Admin office is a fun place to work with a hugely supportive group of women.  During my time with Wind & Tide, I've been given the opportunity to take on new growth opportunities and challenges.  No two days are ever alike.  Our teachers are amazing and their passion for teaching children is so evident.  I had my child in Wind & Tide so when I saw the job posting, I was excited to apply as I firmly stood behind their program.

I have worked with the company for 10 years. I started as a brand new ECE and I was mentored and guided into a confident lead teacher. There is always someone there to help lead you, and encourage you. Making a difference in the lives of the children and families you work with is so inspiring. 

I love to go to work here. The teachers are great! I can learn a lot from them. The manager team is also super supportive. 
The only thing I could think about right now is short working hours, about 6 hours per day as preschool teacher.
