I worked there for my last position and was prompted to fill this out by Indeed. I was in housekeeping. It’s a decent place to work and good pay. There are some opportunities for advancement to Full-time permanent as everyone starts as part time/TPT. Even as part time, when you get trained in each department, there are lots of hours available (I was on a part time contract working regularly 40+ per week). It’s hard work but worth it. Knowing that you’re helping make someone’s stay better and hygienic is a good feeling and helps to push you to do your job even when times get busy and difficult. There isn’t much encouragement or comfort when dealing with managers, especially HR. A lot of the supervisors/managers were great, but others seemed as if they had a secret agenda. The HR reps I had dealt with during my time there, along with reps coworkers of mine had interacted with were extremely unprofessional and judgemental; such as, speaking badly/gossiping about an employee, and Cc’ing the employee in the email, making assumptions, etc. I would say overall in regards to communication, HR does not have an “open door policy” and will jump to conclusions without discussion. I enjoyed the work I did while I was employed there and was great at it. However, due to misinformation from an assumption a summer student supervisor made, I was let go with no chance of speaking with someone about the issue, my emails, calls and voicemails were ignored. Along with those from others I had worked with. It’s unfortunate that these things happened with myself and others, it really affected the way I think of this place. 

At the Windsor Regional Hospital, I was given a variety of patients with different diagnoses and different backgrounds. Even if I had two patients with the same diagnosis, the two patients themselves would have different stories and different backgrounds. I learned from each patient and they had made me a better student, and I know that I will keep what I had learned from them and constantly remind myself that the learning never ends.

At the WRH I learned how to manage my time, with documentation, contact the interdisciplinary team, do morning rounds, delegate tasks if needed, ask for help, and advocate for my patients. 

My co-workers were always willing to lend a hand, and knew that I would be willing to give one as well, as they trusted me with responsibilities and asked for information regarding patients when the shift changed.

The hardest part of my job was having a full schedule then coming home to study for an exam and doing some assignments. The most enjoyable part of the job was being apart of the patient's recovery journey.

-A typical day volunteering includes answering phone calls, taking messages, dealing with customers, stocking merchandise, ringing up transactions, etc.
-I learned how to work quickly and efficiently independently and according to company policies
-Management was very accommodating and supportive. They were always flexible when it came to hours and scheduling and allowed volunteers to have experience working other jobs within the hospital.
-My co-workers were always friendly and productive. We are scheduled two people to a station if the schedule allows it, typically I was on my own for most shifts as I was a seasoned volunteer.
-The hardest part of the job was seeing sick patients. Working at the gift shop, you often forget that you are, indeed, in a hospital, so when visibly sick, or saddened visitors come in, it is always a little hard to deal with. Though, I do not allow that to effect the terms of my work.
-The most enjoyable part of the job was making those sad patients and visitors smile, even for a moment.

A typical day involves reviewing schedules and daily duties based on your position.  Meeting with team leads, supervisors, management and other personnel to relay information as events and situations arise quickly. Constant clear communication is paramount.  Confidentiality, sensitivity, professionalism, collaboration and teamwork is exercised,  accountability, adaptability, hands on environment, multi tasking, critical thinking, diversity must encompass the atmosphere. I love working with all staff and have built relationships.  Hardest part of the job is to act quickly to constant change and this is why communication is key. Workplace culture is highly professional, rigid with no errors.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being short staffed. Need to find innovative ways to find staff replacement and solutions. Addressing and implementing solutions will increase staff morale and productivity.

Our family caring for your family. Ultimate goal is to promote and improve the patient, family and staff experience.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Patient centered from the beginning to the end of  your shift & extending this focus onto  family members and fellow coworkers

My typical day at work starts with early morning case reviews to examine the care delivered and look for opportunities for quality improvement. The quality improvement initiatives are shared with the families and patients. I am involved in conflict resolution and discharge planning for complicated discharge patient and family issues. I advocate for patient rights with staff physicians and nurses and assist the patient in navigating our health care system.
The most difficult part of this role is the volume of complaints. You have to learn to deal with the issues and not take it personally.
The most enjoyable is the team I work with and seeing positive changes to our health care system come from a negative patient experience.

I would input all the information of the volunteers on their special computer program.
I learned to work quickly and efficiently.
The manager was a wonderful person and she was always very encouraging.
The hardest part of this job was when I had to go to patients rooms, that were recovering from different ailments and do short questionnaires regarding if they were happy with cleaning being done in the hospital. I found a way to introduce it and make them laugh a little, but some still would be upset for being disturbed. 
But on the other hand making some sick patients laugh or even small smile made my day.

Typical day at work would be receiving report from Nurse beginning of shift. Reading and gathering information about my patients to know what care I will need to be providing to my patient for my shift. Provide the care as Dr.orders, document, chart, providing total patient care, administering medication, communicating with patients and families and staff. I learned how to use non-violent prevention techniques and had the opportunity to have radiation training to protect myself.

A typical day at windsor regional hospital pharmacy:
High responsibility, fast-paced, repetitive, precision, organized,accuracy, strong memory skills, clear verbal communication, adaptation to frequent change.

I learned: how to adjust to ever-changing events, broad range of personalities and how to make crucial decision making.

My co-workers: many different personalities/work ethics

Hardest part of the job: seeing patients first hand in distress/critical care/specialized mental health

Most enjoyable part of the job: able to leave the workday knowing i have done my very best and ready to takle the next days events

What is the best part of working at the company?
I enjoyed working at WRH until they demanded I take and experimental injection that could leave me disabled.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful period of my 33 years of employment was the last 3 months where coercion by the upper management the CEO and the board would not respect my personal body autonomy.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The other employees and my coworkers were like family. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy, worked all day and at times did not receive a break or lunch
