A typical day revolved around the tasks at hand and daily incoming mail.   Prioritizing and organizing the work efficiently helped to increase productivity and reduce stress.  The general workplace culture was open and there were always solutions to all the problems mostly within the department ... all we had to do was ask the questions and we would be pointed in the right direction.   The hardest part of the job was keeping up with the pace of the workload.  The most enjoyable part was knowing there was always tomorrow and supervisors who were willing to listen when things were getting out of hand.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Experiences with meeting plenty of different people and working with different schools.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Children with higher behavioral issues can be difficult unless your willing to take on the challenge.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Lots of love, faith and kindness towards others.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
For around three hours every couple days I would go straight to the office, get whoever Im filling in for's folder, find out where I need to be and read throught the information in folder about what im dealing with. then i work with a spec-ed studnt with there schooling.

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board provided me with a lifetime of wonderful memories. The gratification that comes with witnessing your students develop their potential makes all of the work worth it. In addition, many of the colleagues and families that I have met along the journey continue to be a vital part of my life today.
If I had to do it allover again, I would choose to work for the WECDSB in a heartbeat.

Days spent in the classrooms with children. I learned that anyone in the education field deserves every penny they earn and that each of the people who decide an educators salary should  work at least 1 day per year in the role to properly assess their value. Management is excellent! Workplace culture is inclusive and helpful. Hardest part of the job is not knowing the children well since only called to some classrooms for 1 day. Most enjoyable part of the job is getting to see so many smiling faces and eager developing minds when entering the room.


What I have learned at this job was to think of solutions quickly.  It is very fast paced and goal orientated.  The hardest part of the job is trying to complete all requirements for all students, while making it enjoyable and engaging.  The co-workers are a valuable asset to utilize to complete the job.  Their experience is a valuable aid, and they are always open to suggestions.  The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing the finished product (the student who has grasped a new concept).

I enjoyed the work I did and the people I worked with. My work was interesting, informative and I enjoyed helping people. Unfortunately, I am currently laid-off because they closed the school libraries. The most difficult part of the job was loosing it. I would have been happy to work here for the rest of my life. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with the staff and students.

The school board is a great place to work, however being an Occasional ECE does not mean full time hours.  Shifts vary from 1-3 times a week on supply.  I am looking for something more part time permanent or full time.  

Working with children is great, it is rewarding and they do make you smile at the end of the day!  There is never a dull moment!

I really enjoy working in my field as an EA for WECDSB. Work tasks and responsibilities are organized, and the pay is very fair. The only thing I am missing is the health care benefits since my job is occasionally. I highly recommend this board.

I enjoyed working for the school board for 10 years in the libraries.  A typical day involved running class visits for children and assisting staff and students with literacy needs.  My schools were lovely, but two are closed now.  Sadly the Learning Commons were closed and I was laid off.
