After receiving a specific assignment from central dispatch  .I would call the client to inform him/her about the details for his coming appointment(message relay )and I make sure to remind the client 2 days before the actual appointment (reminder call ) . Then I would go to the specific location of the assignment , do my introduction to both sides (service provider /client ) . Provide interpretation service to convey messages as faithfully as possible with high standards of confidentiality ,accuracy ,reliability and role boundaries .Finally,I would ask the service provider to sign my paper to finish the assignment .
 I leaned the importance of maintaining role boundaries and how to be impartial ,in other words not to take anyone's side to insure accurate interpretation .
Also, I learned how to be punctual and head to my assignment 15 minutes earlier to control time management .
Organization ,is another aspect that I learned through keeping all assignment papers in a secure place in an organized way.
 The hardest part of the job .was dealing with emotional situations such as ,death ,chemo therapy or even cancer treatments. However ,I leaned that it is Ok for some tears to fall down ,but the most important is to maintain professionalism through all assignments even with the hardest ones .
The most enjoyable part of my job was feeling  the appreciation from both service provider and the client and being able to help both sides to communicate easily together and not letting language barrier affect the communication between both . .

A typical day for me would start at 630 am seeing diabetics in the community assisting with taking fasting blood sugars then administering their insulin based on drs orders, them oral meds, or wounds. I was a community nurse in my last position so I would go to each clients homes and do nursing duties bases on each clients individual needs, I had to make decisions on my own for the most part using my nursing education and experience but when give a situation that I was unsure of I would contact my nursing resource coordinator or the clients physician for their assistance. I would have to say the most difficult part of my job was at times time management as with ill clients one never knows the state you might find someone in so that might take more time. We were allotted a certain amount of time for each visit so if something was wrong and we needed to spend for example twice the amount of time it would affect the next client and so on. In this case if it became unmanageable we could call our supervisor for some help from other nurses as patient safety is always our number 1 priority. I loved my job, I loved the people, I loved helping people. One day was almost never the same as the day before. It was a great place to work

A typical day of work would be driving to a first client's home and completing the tasks requested of me on my schedule in the time given.  The driving time is included in the task time.  This makes caring for the client and their needs very difficult without rushing them.  Then it's off to the next client and their specific needs.  

As a Health care provider I need to report different things that occur during my day and are given a number to call  which is our scheduling unit.  They are not very available to us.  We always are put on hold.  This makes us very frustrated and possibly late or very likely inaccurate with the information as the time passes.

 Some clients either cancel or become ill and go into hospital or pass away.  In those cases they fill those spots with other clients or patients from another Health Care Aides schedule who has called in sick or are on holidays.  This makes it difficult for clients to trust and become comfortable with new workers.  

Overall I do what I do because I love helping people who need assistance.  It's selfishly rewarding to me!

I have a part-time position in home care as a Home Care Attendant and I never get 8 hour shifts nor am I paid for 8 hour shifts as guaranteed in my job contract for my FTE position. Management doesn't see the problem with giving me less than 3 hours of paid time for my scheduled shifts for my position and don't want to backpay me the difference owed to me in the hours for the past year I have been working in this job.

Also, they won't even reimburse me properly for bus fare used to do my job and they don't want to backpay me for the bus fare owed to me for the past year, even though I provided receipts.

The time we spend waiting on average 30 to 40 minutes to give report on the phone to After Hours is never paid for either.

Benefits package is almost non existent. They don't pay for medications, they don't give you paid sick days until after you've been sick for 3 consecutive days with no pay. Also, no pension until after you've worked in home care for a year.

Terrible work opportunity. Don't work in home care.

A large entity gives you options to move but can be limiting due to circumstance.  
Working at different sites in different positions was challenging and rewarding but the messaging that comes from the executive level doesn’t seem to support inclusion, growth, equity.  The pathway seems too narrow and the feel is like high school. Not all are of this mindset.  There are great managers and directors there were also bad ones. Lost many colleagues with great skill and potential.  Sadly the greatest compliment is to eliminate your supposed competition - employees or coworkers that do your job better - at any cost and squash what goes against you or the culture you promote. 
It gives benefits, stability-usually if that’s what you need then it’s for you.  If you are looking for fulfilment and to change the world 🌎 don’t stay too long. This place will break you and that dream .

A typical days starts off with a relaxing morning coffee, for me, as we come together for our Team Meeting and then our 'physical'work begins. I was responsible for (fully)assisting 7 people up and out of bed to be ready for breakfast. I learned time management and that people are much more 'diversified'than one may actually realize. A position for a HCW requires a tremendous amount of selflessness and confidence.
The part of myjob in this World, as a Health Care Worker is most rewarding to me every minute of every day that I DO make HUGE differences in peoples lives and that (they) maintain THEIR quality of life because I am willing to help.

This used to an OK company to work for now communication only happens with certain employees by management while others are not told important changes to policy only to find out later. Those in leadership or management tend to be hired from outside the organization or have little experience while others are passed over or not granted an interview. The pandemic hasn't made any of this easier with people adopting their own policies around "working from home". 

Everyday, employees have working rotations in preparing the trays for patients-condiments, entree, soup-vegetable, milk and juice, dessert, checking, loading and running.

i always learn the value of being productive by making use of time, team work and cooperation to deliver quality output

the most enjoyable part of the job is the opportunity of working to this company, preparing foods for patients for i know  i am part of giving my share for their recovery from sickness, friendly co workers relationships, rewarding job, inspiration of going to this job everyday

Typical day at work is Client needs based and collaborative discussion with individual or family if individual us not mentally competent to direct their care. 
I've learned that WRHA needs to provide full disclosure to individuals who are hired by persons who access this service.  WHRA also pays no benefits, no option for taking paid holidays as that requires another worker in place and security of  full pay - burn out fast because of stress of not getting PROPER holidays, other benefits or pay. Until recently hourly was $15. Now it's 17 and anything over is the families obligation to cover. Work moral can suffer if individual or family  does not know or practice how to properly manage employees. 

Winnipeg Regional Health Authority offers health services for family in needs. 
One example I worked for was Home Care, I would travel from house to house taking care of patients, elderly, who aren't able to take care of themselves, and would have no one there to look out for them for the time being. 
Winnipeg Regional Health Authority doesn't discriminate on the type of client that is asking for help. It meets the clients needs and necessities, such as if the client was not very fluent in english, they would offer a worker who is fluent to speak in their language. WRHA doesn't discriminate against sexuality as well, but if the client perfers to have someone with the same gender, WHRA is more than willing to offer a worker for them.
