There is a serious lack of communication within this organization, as well as a lack of professionalism from head office. The best part of my work here was interacting with the clients, and getting them the help they need; this job was great for gaining experience, however it is very clear that the higher ups put their priorities in how well the thrift stores are preforming/ how much money they are making. There is little to no involvement with programs, and workers are often left feeling burnt out, under appreciated, and lost. Everything feels disorganized, and you are often left doing other peoples jobs for them; you will also be asked to volunteer your time, despite the fact that you work full time hours. There is a large workload for minimal pay, and little support given. Overall, if you are right out of college/university and want to gain some experience, apply here. But if you are looking for something long-term that can be fulfilling and where you can grow your career, please look elsewhere.

I wasn't even given the pittance I requested per hour until my probation period was over and even then they didn't pay me what they said they would pay me. Working there was extremely labour intensive: I always seemed to be moving, lifting, carrying, filling up or unpacking huge frog boxes, among many other labour intensive things. Way way way too much work for what you get paid is the bottom line. I felt very exploited to say the least. Some of the store managers were ok and one I really liked a lot, but the others weren't very good or were simply unpleasant or stressful to work with. No room for advancement and I didn't learn anything new. I did mostly enjoy dealing with customers though. I wouldn't recommend this particular company to friends.

Women in Need is a non-profit organization that helps hundreds of women a year. The thrift store where I worked game me the opportunity to meet all types of people. I got to know my customers well, some even shopped there just because of the genuine enjoyment I got from helping them. I would still be there however there was not much room for advancement and I would of liked to have had more responsibility and input into our day to day operations.

job involved evaluating donated goods,pricing, and displaying them in a way to generate maximum daily sales. my dutties included key-holder, cashier, pricer, floor sales, and customer relations. I enjoyed my experiances with both co-workers and managers who employed a 'team' aproach.

Full time sales associate position. The staff alternate various tasks that are to be completed daily. I am a fast pace worker so I ended up spending most of my time as a sorter/stock associate. When I was hired the manager was quitting and the backroom was a mess. Me and two other girls were able to clear out the entire backroom and have it completely organized. It was a great job and I enjoyed working with the associates and interacting with the customers.

This company pays mininum wage, and only hires as part time. Emolpyees cant afford to drive. They all live in the ghetto cause its all they can afford. The ditectors make excellent money tho. When its busy you are employed full time hours, but over time is paid out at $15/hour. They will deduct an extra lunch break off your days pay if uou take your lunch after 1pm, as punishment.

Coworkers and clients were great, and WINS is a good place to work if you want to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable families in Calgary. Communication needed to be better between programs management and store management, but I think there have been some changes in leadership and some positive updates since leaving the company. Overall a good job to work if interested in community resources and outreach. 

Uff where to start. They make promotion decisions by favouritism or randomness, meanwhile the actual hard workers are treated terrible, with extra work as reward.

They dont want to pay for hours so there is a absurd amount of overwork and even if the team do their best, is never enough for them.

Everyone is stressed and scared bc of their fire a lot of people bc "there is no money". 

Good workers leave as soon as they can.

Toxic work environment, managers play favorites. If you're not a favorite they treat you like garbage. 

DON'T I REPEAT DO NOT ever DONATE to them as they recycle basically everything. So much gets wasted and if you speak up they will tell at you and make working horrible 

don't do their training programmes either.  Avoid working here at all costs
