a typical day at work would be checking messages from patients who are calling to book/confirm mammogram appointments. I have learned everyday to be a patient person because some  of  those patients are very  anxious about getting their exams done. Management is easy to work with. Management let me know when I'm doing a good job.  The only draw back is that there is little room to grow into a different department. Right now we are in Phase I of the new hospital. Hopefully when Phase II and III is finished in 2015 things will be different.  My co-workers are ok in some instances but I try to get along with everyone I work with. The hardest part of my job sometimes is to deal with a co-worker who think that patients are  not important and she is just at work for the money.  The most enjoyable part of my job is when I help  patients either on the phone or when they come in the hospital for their appointments.  The usually ask for my name.

A typical day at work for me scanning and posting documents to patient's medical chart. Working at the hospital I have learned the importance of maintaing accurate information and the care of personal information. I can say I have some outstanding co-workers for the most part, we all come from differents walks of life so we must learn to adapt in every situation. I wouldn't say there is a hard part to my job it's pretty basic and enjoyable and I'm always looking for another challenge. Interacting with my co-workers and patient's is the best part of my job I would say.

Actually I had busy times in WCH, but energetic and useful, I learned too much with working with different teams, Filing, Reminder Call to the patients, Scheduling, Re-Scheduling, Front desk, Roomig...

The workplace was wonderful and staff was grate, nice and supportive.
The hardest part of the job was that working in Hospital have too much paper work that we tried to be up-date everyday  , really was cool and enjoyable for me. I worked hard as my supervisor and staffs was so nice hadn't stress and I enjoyed with my job and my colleagues.

Medical Secretary working both front and back office for numerous departments. Typical day would consist of checking patients in/out, booking appointments, reminder calls, preparing charts, pulling charts, processing referrals, copying charts, loose paper filing etc. Way to much gossip amongst staff (flow coordinators, secretaries, volunteers and doctors etc).  Made for a very uncomfortable work environment for one that's main focus is PATIENTS.  Mangement is horrible and can easily manipulate and reverse situations to make employees feel at fault.

Management does an excellent job at monitoring social conditions of the workplace and effectively addresses conflict, and works to step in before any conflict occurs

Most enjoyable part of the job is knowing the team ensures personal well-being (mental and physical health) and offers flexibility if you need a bit of time off to recover.

Depending on the department you work with, you will be doing the job of 3 people while you aren't paid enough to even live on your own in this city. It's weird to see the signs everywhere about the gender pay gap in the hospital, while the only people who get paid well are upper management and it doesn't matter that you're educated and experienced, you'll be extremely stressed, won't even get your name on publications for your work, and be barely paid above the living minimum for this city. Embarrassing.

I had a great experience working at the COVID Assessment Centre and Mobile Vaccination Clinics. Although, at times the job did feel boring and days were sometimes long, I worked with an awesome team of people - both fellow Clerks, Nurses, Doctors, etc. and management was great too. WCH is a smaller hospital, and it felt very family-oriented, and you feel valued; however, promotions into FT permanent jobs are slow and hard to get. A common trend in many hospitals.


I was learning a lot, as I had a preference to work in the hospital from the beginning of my medical career, everything was like a dream come true. I shadowed at the 7 unit of their family doctor's offices. Learned how to deal with the super busy environment, multitasking, taking calls, put on hold, and take the patients, schedule the patients, re schedule, cancel, book the new patients etc.
File coding, filing too.

Toxic , not at all professional management doesn’t listen or help resolve issues

People just talk terribly about each other your constantly watched by other colleagues it’s absolutely disgusting
