Work Term

Being a small business, there are days in which may be extremely busy and others that are very slow. It makes quite the busy and casual mix within the workplace which you do not often get elsewhere. Work is done at our own pace which keeps moral high and stress to a minimum. During an average day, customers whom come in seeking help with their computers will get assistance, either over the counter or behind depending on whether or not their issue is a quick solve or requires further investigation. When help is provided over the counter in person, it is usually a question that can be answered simply or is a matter of "why is my internet not working," which is most likely a question that we give suggestions on but cannot fix as it is a problem the customer's internet provider will have to take care of. If a computer has some clear issues that are not for certain, it is recorded in the system and taken in for further investigation. First, diagnostics are run to figure out what the computer's issues are. Secondly, if the machine requires further care, which sometimes costs money, then the customer is contacted and provided with the details they need to know. Nothing can be done until the customer gives the say so. As long as the customer gives the green light, we can proceed with the maintenance.

Weekly meetings with current Community Relations Coordinator to discuss social media content, take photo/video to post on their social media platforms. Effectively executed summer patio event with profits to go to local charity to build relationship within community, as well met with sponsors to help build that relationship. Set up a schedule for specific posts and when to post to attract a target audience.

Atypical day at work was playing basketball with the clients and helping prepare meals. Supervising lunch for adults and children. Ordering and counting stock. Recording Bank deposits and calculating the money for the deposit.

Usual day at work involved working mostly with other personal computers students or staff had brought in with technical issues with a wide variety of issues. Co-workers were very friendly and supportive if i needed any help or advice.

I dealt with the general public on a day to day basis. It was an extremely face-paced environment which I really enjoyed. The most enjoyable part of my job was working with the staff as a group to get things done as well as getting to know some of the customers on a personal level.

Learned how an accounting department was conducted. Investigated invoices and purchase orders for issues and how to resolve them. Created new invoices for vendors and acquired knowledge of tax codes. Great team of employees to work with.

I found the work place climate refreshing and enjoyed working from home.  A good job if you can get it, but not so financially rewarding that the big companies are beating down the CEDIF management doors.

A very busy and educational work environment with hands-on experience. Co-workers are willing to assist no matter what. Great to see construction work from start to finish.

My work term at Atlantic Towing was horrible.  Bullying and Harassment was something management didn't care enough to address and take care of.  The work was hard, and the co-workers were difficult to deal with.

Early mornings with long days, a lot of heavy lifting all throughout the day, continuously on your feet all day long with short breaks in between. Harsh environment, rough seas and wind made for a harder day.
