YRC Reimer

The managers in the company are really great, they are willing to help everybody, either newbie or the elders. Managers never say NO when you need their helps. 

Work is fun, you have chances to learn everyday, dealing with multiple problems within Canada and U.S (because it's team working). The workplace is good to, I have never experienced any conflicts with the others, as they are really great. The only stressful things are times when you have to deal with aggressive/difficult customers. 

Overall: 10/10.

YRC/Reimer Customer Care is a fast pace, intense, it demands perfection, being concise, orally and written. YRC/Reimer has not taught me anything that I don't know already. I had fours days of training where those before and after me, received 6 weeks of training, this shows that I am very good and my customers and co-works can back that up. When my Manager is too busy, my co-workers come to me for assistance, even those who started before me. The hardest part of the job is taking the bus to and from work, one and a half bus ride both ways. The workplace is Multi-cultural.

Days go by fast, when there is work. Non-repatitive work. Management is poor. If you have low seniority you are treated as unimportant. Money is more valuable than a well skilled employee. When the work load is low, you are "laid off daily depending on the work. Even though it is unionized. This results in a possible 4 days a week of no work. Mondays are always busy. Overtime is good, when there is work to be done. The hardest part of the job is unloading more "difficult frieght", but for the most part you get used to it. The enjoyable part is the days go by quick. Co-workers are relatively nice and are willing to help.

If you're looking at a job posting in the fall - especially in the Windsor, ON area - don't do it! It's only to get through the Xmas rush then they'll find some excuse to get rid of you just before your three months are up.
Another misinterpretation is their training in Woodstock is nothing like how things are handled in Windsor. Upon working late hours all over the board you are expected to  load and unload your trailers. Total chaos along with poor moral = time lost working somewhere worthwhile. 

When it is so busy. I learned that freight transportation is a good business to invest with. Time management is always essential. My co-workers were mostly guys as I was working in a dock. The hardest part of the job is when you miss a big freight due to shift issues. The most enjoyable part of the job is when you hit your goal or more.

This company is a total joke. No one that works there has any knowledge of transportation or rules that go along with it. They buy brnad new equipment that is total garbage, the newest truck is from 2003 and none of them have air conditioning. They band aid all problems just enough to get by. HR is a total joke they yell at you and are rude when you ask questions they are suppoed to have the answers to (ie: benefits, holidays etc)

Got a Job Offer from this company yesterday, only to find out today that they were revoking it. This is not cool when I was going to resign another company to work for them. Luckily my gut told me yesterday not to resign yet. Aside from the fact that their indecisiveness almost cost me another job, it's cruel to offer someone a job only to revoke the job offer the next day, especially in this economy.

Head office in Buffalo micro manages and do not let the manager develop a business plan that would make a complete sense of what is happening and organization.  they hire incompetent dispatcher and manager that have no idea how thing works in the trucking world.  I say the only thing that this company does is teach us how to be a circus clown with all the right training

Paid for all of your time and trips and overtime daily. Paid layover time after 12 hours off at a remote terminal. Mostly night work. A few new tractors have appeared in the past few years but most of the equipment is well past it's prime.

Not a good place to work in the office environment.  Management is weak and full of nepotism. No breaks for lunch.  Employees are not treated like people and often taken advantage of.  Shifts changed with very short notice, unfair pay scales.  Drivers are treated well and paid well.  Upper management employees are a joke.
