It's a unionize environment (CAW) but everyone works hand in hand, but the union draws a line between them and us in management.
As long as we keep ourselves inside our line and doesn't interfere with them, everything is fine.

Management is great, benefits are excellent, 3% RRSP, very good extended health benefits, abundant in overtime work with pay.

The most challenging part of this job requires someone to be very flexible, someone who can relieve the Shift supervisor when he is on vacation, able to work as dispatch from time to time, working as a clerk - processing EBOL (electronic bills of lading) for driver pick-up, as an inventory clerk, checking stocks, cycle counts, locating products and storing products to locations.

But it is very exciting, not a boring day.

I was a holiday season hire. Communication was very inconsistent and as a result, being setup for success was poor.
Cashier training did not happen and there was no stock lead hired. Staff was assigned the task of processing shipments in between customers on the sales floor. As a result sales were directed effected negatively. Floor supervision was poor and breaks did not always happen. 
The store manager idea of maximizing the fourth Quarter was " we throw you to the wolves" resulting in employee 
error. The managers were not easily approachable either. The seasonal staff appeared to be devalued as compared to the regular team members. Poor training resulted in frustration and impatient leaders. 
 


If your passionate about candles and fragrance, Yankee is the place for you. You get to interact with the guests and recommend products that they might like based on questions you ask them. You get to teach them about candle care and how to layer fragrance in there homes. You also get to introduce them to mixology. A lot of folks are unaware of how well some fragrances mix and enhance each other or even sometimes create a more subtle scent if one candle is slightly stranger than they like. It's always fun and there are so many different ways to use scent in the home and car that there is always a product for everyone!

Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of specific account.  Maximized availability of products in the appropriate channels of distribution consistent with brand strategy with an emphasis on superior new product execution. Assisted Sales Leaders with strategies for customers that enable Newell Brands to achieve best in class results. Tracked metrics around financial, brand, and shopper trends. Supported internal sales leaders and customers with connectivity in other functional areas including Marketing, Supply Chain, Communications and Operations.

I love working at Yankee Candle! Its fun and exciting. I get to share my love for fragrance with guests and teach them new ways to bring scent into their homes. 

We are in a mall so we have typical mall hours and are quite busy around Christmas. Staff are great and very friendly. Management is wonderful. They accommodate for other schedules (other jobs, school, etc.) and are very encouraging on the sales floor.

Changing floor sets can be less fun, but that is the case in any retail setting.

Working at Yankee is my FUN job, and its great!

In my role, every day is different with the variety of tasks required at any given moment but I welcome the challenge.
I've learned over the years that not everyone can be pleased regardless of what you do.
Many of my co-workers have become like a part of my family or a very dear friend.
Sometimes the hardest part of the job is when things change.
The most enjoyable part is simply seeing everyone each day and helping where I can outside my regular role.

The customer are amazing. Employees, its a hit or miss. Higher management on the other hand, terrible. If you do something wrong, they hold it against you, and in their eyes you can do all wrong. There is no room for advancement, benefits arent that great. The only thing that is great is the discount on candles and the most of the guests are amazing.

When I was hired on I wasn’t aware the company was winding down Canadian operations. Would have been nice to know it was basically a temporary position since I only worked there 7 months. Additionally company told us after Christmas we were closing but for weeks before stopped shipment and we were smart enough to know what was happening so that left a bad taste in my mouth

Toxic environment where people that manage upwards are rewarded and there are no ramifications for inappropriate actions, despite making HR aware of various examples of unacceptable behaviour.

Overall my experience at Yankee Candle was enjoyable. I loved my coworkers and the new ideas that Yankee continued to present to their guests. When I began my time at Yankee, management wasn’t awesome. Although after a year or so that issue was resolved. I wish the pay was better. I would have loved to stay with Yankee Candle.I had great experiences and met great people.
