Year Round Landscaping

Safety was a first starting the day assesing and planning. I was able to learn proper operation of the equipment with maintenance tips, The company had 3 mechanics from Heavy duty to small engines.
Equipment was very well maintained. Small engines on blowpacs etc daily. I learned solid approaches to tasks at hand and how to be productive. The crew members and the forman were always willing to provide you with direction and assist you when required. We learned how to take pride in our work. The work was physically hard but the best part was seeing what you accomplished and getting complements from co-workers who had worked at the company for over 15 years. One of the sub trades had worked for them for over 20 years so you know if he said good job it ment something. Management treated us well and were hands on. They worked hard both in the feild and at the office day in and day out so they were very respected.

Year Round Landscaping is as they say, work year round. Though hours will be lower and more sporatic in the winter, they are a fair and dependable company. They are understanding of time off needed and emergancy situations. They have an awesome group plan through great west life, never had a problem. They offer training, which is always a plus. Deffinatly a great company to make some money. Down side would be the job culture, which has suffered in the last few years. It could also be a sign of the times, or the current state of mind of the newer work force. Also higher level training, ( going from maintiance or learning to instal sod to learing how to instal a fence, patio or proper gradding) while on the job has suffered, due to a lack of time and job culture.

A typical day would start around nine AM in the north east at Saddle Town LRT station. WE had to clear off ten LRT stations stretching across the North East and North west. occasional we would have to do a few south stations. management ( Our Foreman)was good, they didn't cut corners and did not abuse their power. Worked hard like the rest of us. Hardest part about the job was being out in the cold at night for anywhere form eight to eighteen hours.

Year round landscaping is a great company to work for, I learned alot about landscaping, and I also met some wonderful people,  Every day was a good day working for this company, Considering it was outdoors, And alot of the days were nice days outside, Also the site supervisor was a great guy, Really a good Boss,

What is the best part of working at the company?
Experience in laying paving slabs, laying lawns, installing fences and supporting walls, planting trees and flowers and much more.  

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Winter time when there is a lot of snow

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day is different from the previous one, every day is a new experience.

From day 1  I enjoyed working there.  The Brothers were always great to work for. But some days could be trying and days very stressful when I came to the seasonal help. But thats no different then any job I ever worked at. Always rotating crews, so you'd teach a person some things and gone the next. But rounded off would definitely recommend this company to those WITH experience  or those looking at obtaining experience with a working drive. Maybe one day I can go back.

It's a typical landscaping company. 
In general, you can join and work here; some people stay for years, while others leave quite quickly. But there's work, and if you're an experienced worker, they will certainly hire you and appreciate your skills.
The management of the company exhibits very weak leadership qualities. Years go by, and nothing changes.

They Leave you alone after work hours.

I’ve never really experienced any stress working there.

The work environment can be chaotic at times, but for the most part they’re pretty organized.

A family-run business, with great benefits and flexible time off. Some skills growth is available through educational opportunities, however, if you are looking for opportunities for career growth (moving up the chain) this may not be the place for you. 

Year Round has a good group of employees and supervisors with a lot having a very long employment status there. They are willing to take a chance on hiring non experienced personnel. There is a need for improvement on management communication and company efficiency though.
