The pay is salary, and you will stay late every shift, meaning no OT pay.  No vacation time for the first year. They claim lots of cross training (which is true) but it's only because this company is so cheap that they are grossly understaffed. Some people may like this idea, but your pay won't reflect the skills you're expected to learn.  

Your start time will also change dramatically after you start. Evening shifts will suddenly become early morning shifts. A keycard is required to enter the facility, which you will never get, and if you work nights when all the doors are locked it becomes a dangerous situation. You will have to walk a block in the dark to enter the warehouse side and walk through, past moving forklifts and equipment to get back in. 

There is NO LUNCHROOM for non-teamsters, no free coffee, this is an office straight out of the 80s. No one takes their coffee breaks because it's so busy and it really seems frowned upon for some reason.

The most important part of the day was clients. We had to make sure every client finds what they were looking for. If we didn't have exactly that, we proposed something else that would suit to their needs. I love team work and this was a great team. We were like a family and I always make sure of that. I want the place to be filled with joy even tho there is things to do and finish. The hardest part of the job I would say was waiting for a client to enter. We weren't located at a good place so the store wasn't full enough. That is why I had to make sure to make a sell every time a client entered the store. The most enjoyable part of the job, to me, was to give my service. I love it. I love making giving my clients all the help they need and see in their eyes how much I have helped them and finally wish them a wonderful day. There is nothing like going somewhere and receiving a great service a wonderful smile.

High management turnover, typically 6mos-2yrs. 
Management has no leadership skills, no vision or direction. 
Micromanaging, office politics and high school mentality of inner and outer circles throughout the company. 
Unionized environment is a world for themselves. 
Union employees with 2 or more years at the company are in a good place. 
New hires don't last a year by being on call, barely making part time hours despite being promised full time job after probation or within 6mos. 
Dangerous working conditions, high risk of fatigue, poor equipment (or lack of) for dock or drivers. 
Pay is good if you don't mind working in a mentally toxic environment (for the most part). 

You will quit before you get fired...

It’s Union, let’s start with that. You really have to screw up to get fired. Ex. Roll a truck or cause a wreck. It’s team, so it’s definitely not for everybody. Team pays well but if you have to run single the earning potential is limited. You are employed by the company but the trucks are owned by contractors. Some good some bad. That part is luck of the draw. Work is simple as it gets in trucking. Pin to Pin terminal to terminal. No deliveries, no touch freight. You gotta be gone but I guess that’s trucking. Paid hotels and waits ( not a lot per hour but better than nothing.

A typical work day was setting up the dock for the afternoon shift.
I received alot of good training at Yellow and learned a great deal of working in a union enviroment.
I had no complaints about the management as they were very fair to me.
Even though it was a union shop most of all the workers treated me like part of the family, they were the best bunch of people I have ever worked with.
The hardest part of my job was the long hours that had to be put in, but that's transportation.
My most enjoyable part of the job was the people I worked with.

The processes to become s successful organization are in place, yet the proper resources to ensure this success are absent.  The division between the IBT (teamsters) and Management causes unnecessary challenges and limts the company's ability to properly service the customer.  The constant battle to ensure you are doing your job for the customer is met by continuous monitoring of a very disgruntle workforce who currently has concerns and disagreements with the contract in whcih they are working under.

Yellow's is a part time position while I complete my CEGEP.
I enjoy working with the Personnel and mostly with all types of customers that come in to the store.  I have learned a lot and have incorporated skills that make me efficient and understand the Retail Sales aspect of this industry.  

The team I work for is interesting and fun to be with.  

I hope to work with them for a long time but I need more hours

All aspects of dock office administration. Opening and closing shifts on weekends, working as part of a supervisory team. Comprehensive knowledge of operations achieved. Multi-tasking required, but difficult at times depending on daily demands. Management and co-workers were exceptional. Challenges of the work made the job challenging and therefore both enjoyable and challenging.

Did various jobs and several different locations for Company. And that kept the job challenging and rewarding during my 7 year stay.

Biggest challenge always dealing with a Unionized work force. Learned to build relationships and trust with key Union Employees and learned never to lie.

Most enjoyable job was being Facilities manager at the City of Bell facility.

Poor distribution of tasks.  No encouragement. Terrible management. If they don’t like you, you are treated poorly. If they do, you can basically stand around chatting and no one  is told to get back to work.  TM  stressed me out daily to the point that I had to take a Dr recommend week off several times. Only enjoyed the last month I worked there because there was no TM.  Company lied to staff.  Not a pleasant experience at all.
