The training was rushed and incomplete. We had to beg the trainer to make us listen to a few calls before throwing us on the line with absolutely no clue of what the hell we are doing. The system is way too complexe for no reason. Very not user friendly. Throughout the `training` we mostly went through things that we would practically never use. Everytime someone had a question the answer was always `we will go through that later` but most of them were not covered. Very difficult to follow. Trainer kept going back and forth on useless material. He really didnt seem like he wanted to be there. At one point I thought he was about to have a mental breakdown.

When the integration period started, they brought in the absolute worst person to help. Guy was extremely condescening and practically making fun of people who didnt understand a certain request. Euuuhhh it may be so obvious to you cause you been working here 3 years, we`ve been here barely 2 months wtf is your problem? And for some reason they forbidden us to call the helpdesk for support. The only `support` we got a Microsoft Teams group chat with only 2 people to support 12 newbies. You had to ask a question in the chat and if they felt it was pertinent enough, they would reply to you. However, you still have to wait for one of them clowns to get back to you. Could take 10 to 15 minutes before they do....if they do. Meanwhile, the client is on hold this whole time with the most annoying a** piano solo thats way too loud and obnoxious.

They dont even try to hide their favortism. When I finally got to my manager, we had an extra training me and another member from my group. The manager would only address the other guy for some reason. Whenever she asked a question to test our knowledge, she would ONLY address him. Probably because he has more of sales background that I do but still wtf? 

As for call experience, its just angry customers wanting to cancel because we made numrous mistakes in their ads. Wrong info, wrong heading, wrong market, wrong everything. They expect us to sell more s**t to these angry customers after we practically f**ked up everything previously. Every call was an argument. Needless to say I didnt stick around very long. I will say the pay was good as well as the bonuses, but not worth losing your mental health.

They keep praising and gassing up horrible veteran employes with 0 people skills which sadly ends in a power trip. 

Moral to the story, if you`re currently leaving a toxic work enivrement, dont go to Yellow Pages. You`re gonna regret your decision.

If I were not a single mother, I would have loved this job for the rest of my career. Unfortunately the assignment and hours needed to invest were more than I could juggle. 

As it was outside sales, I was responsible to work from home, which was ideal, as 2 days a week were allotted to administration, and 3 days were on the road meeting with clients. 

I learned that I am capable of maintaining a very corporate and professional countenance, as I am generally very laid-back and personable. I learned more about advertising and the internet than I ever knew was out there, and I learned that I can push myself to new heights and achieve anything I try at. 

My co-workers were like family. I am still in constant contact with many of them in my personal life. I learned a lot and our team was very strong and helped each other constantly.

My managers were amazing and were truly there to help. I can't say enough good things about them.

The hardest part of my job was being away from my children, which proved to be too much. I handled the hour+ daily commute well and enjoyed the many challenges the job presented.

The part of the job I enjoyed the most was the actual face-to-face time with the clients, and presenting the proposals. I researched each business and designed marketing campaigns specifically for them, to improve their ROI and bring the best qualified leads possible. I absolutely loved going over analytics and finding new ways to improve their ROI.

I am very impressed with the training program at YPG. I have been on a continual learning curve from the day I started the 5 week training program.There is something to learn each day and each day brings new challenges to learn and expand one's sales experience, organization skills, customer service skills, conflict management and much more. It is an environment that is fast paced and requires efficient and organized planning.  The management team are continually looking for ways to help hone the skills of the sales reps both in a team setting and individually. The sales floor is full of ambitious people and although there is a great deal of competitiveness there is always someone that will pitch in if you need help. The hardest part of the job is handling people who don't understand the changes that YP has gone through to become one of the Nation's strongest media companies. Digital is the way to go and trying to change the image of print advertising in the minds of the general public/business people has been more of a challenge than I expected. Customers have been more closed minded than I expected. There are 2 parts of the job that I enjoy equally, working with the customers and finding a program that works optimally for them & interacting with my co-workers.

I enjoyed this job for about the first 4 months I was there. I had a manager who had left the company and they had replaced them with a new one. The new manager they had replaced him with was awful. He was extremely negative and you couldn’t even tell him about it otherwise you were “attacking his integrity”. As soon as he started, the fear of losing my job started every single day. At first I did really well when everything was positive, and then my sales started to go down. I was threatened everyday that if I didn’t get sales I was going to lose my job. They make you run blindly towards a talk time target that seems half impossible to hit most days when you get nothing but answering machines, and the managers will NOT allow MACs to speak with Human Resources, they will simply tell you “we don’t do that here”. Good luck getting a hold of the telesales managers if you have questions, as they rarely answer them, instead they have you type a question into a Microsoft teams chat and wait for an answer there. In my opinion, the job is not worth the headache of negative management when you are already in a high stress job. DO NOT RECOMMEND, especially in Atlantic Canada. Horrible management.

Excellent place to work with plenty of opportunity to keep up to date on an ever-changing business environment. Great Supervisors, great co-workers and I was fortunate enough to work with an awesome team in Customer Service. Very dedicated, passionate and positive team. A typical day at work would be to be assigned to address customer complaints related to their published advertising whether in print or online.  An investigation would be done to find out what went wrong, who was responsible for the error (YP or client). Once the investigation was completed, a call to the client to explain the error, how the error occurred and then negotiate a fair and reasonable offer of compensation to the client. The negotiations could get tough as I had to keep in mind that I was working on behalf of three very important entities:  Yellow Pages (loss of revenue), Sales Rep (loss of income) and the customer (did the error hurt his business and is Yellow Pages going to lose this customer)

There is no culture at this company. It is over managed and micromanaged loyalty does not exist even for long-term successful employees they can be let go at any time 

Managers do not support the actually customer , they try and coach you, but when you really need their help, they’re really not there. In fact, many of them were promoted to management with terrible sales numbers and then try and coach you.  

The brand perception is actually terrible and when you sell products, many things go wrong in the back and that directly affect your performance so it’s really out of your control

They constantly change top level sales managers, and they try and re-create the wheel getting you to do a whole bunch of things that don’t actually help the business or your personal situation and then that person gets let go and another one comes in and changes everything all over again and the same thing just keeps happening over 15 years. The sales are continuing to decline. This company was almost $2 billion a year 15 years ago and now it’s probably like 200 million. 

At YP, your job as a media sales consultant has many repetitive tasks as far as submitting the final sale in our system, how we log our daily activities and all the clerical duties we are required to perform.It makes up over 30% of our day. The clients we meet and talk to make what is ever changing in this environment. Challenges change and then business goals are then adjusted to meet those goals. We consult our clients on how they can accomplish their sales and marketing goals through directive and creative forms of advertising. We are constantly being educated on our products and services and more importantly on how these products will benefit our clients - through print, yp.ca and via search engines. My co-workers are great. The seasoned crew has learned the value of team work. 
The hardest part of the job is the demand for perfection from both management and our clients. The best part is the flexibility to manage your accounts and book appointments.

Depending on the amount of work, the schedule is flexible within reason and there is always work to be done.

Developed greatly my customer approach on the phone and great understanding of SEM products and data analysis. 

Depending on your immediate supervisors, work atmosphere is relax and focused on reaching long and short term objectives. 

New waves of employees are younger as well as more and more knowledgeable on PPC, SEO & Social Media services. The company foster in-team cooperation which enables fast personal growth and a great learning environment.

The hardest part of the job would be to relentlessly answer/manage internal communication which are often unnecessary to our individual work and portfolio of accounts.

The most enjoyable part of the job is having meaningful conversations with clients actively invested in their product with us. When they correctly inform us is when we thrive to our work.

YP has been asleep at the wheel for many years.

Reps have learned to game the system to earn their commission and they move on.  There is no ownership.

As an outside Sales Consultant you will be given a group of random accounts- THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR. Regardless if the prior rep sold them the world.  Regardless of if they saw ZERO results in their online activity, regardless of whether their add even had the right number in it. In some cases, you'll get accounts that auto-renewed FOR YEARS (meaning the rep prior claimed they couldn't connect with them) and if you do your job and connect with that decision maker who says "I didn't even know we still had YP ads and that number no longer is valid, please cancel" YOU OWN THAT *ISH!  

Nice group, but they desperately need to clean up their act, get with the times, to stop passing the buck, focus on better sales practices that ACTUALLY have the client in mind and Invest in better technology.  

I feel sorry for their clients that spend their hard earned ad dollars with this dino.
