The better you are at your job the more they try to stress you out. Almost never accepting vacation days unless you've worked there for 20 years or more, punishing employees for pretty much anything they can.  Under Staffing.  Problems that need to be addressed are completely overlooked because upper management disregards anything brought up by staff that actually works the floor.  
They do their best to look good for photo ops and government officials and the rest is pushed to the wayside.
The Union is the only thing keeping anyone working there.
I would have quit every year if it wasn't for the residents needing the general staff that (for the most part) are actually amazing people.  Other than the ones who gossip like it's high school and throw each other under the bus to gain seniority.

My position was fulfilling, really loved working with the families and Residents. The leadership was very poor, the finance dept. was not supported in any way by the CEO. HR made it known they disliked the finance dept., and took any opportunity to discredit all members of the team. Overall the culture in administration was extremely poor, highly unprofessional, seeing staff whispering in corners about other staff, and members of administration being candid about highly confidential information. This is an environment where only the one's stroking the CEO's ego were rewarded. The administration lacks teamwork, it is all about who can point a finger at who. I also witnessed some racism from the floor staff that was disregarded.

The staff is very cliquey. The ones that have been there a long time are safe. If you're new it's hard to fit in especially where they're all friends outside of work. The office act as if they are better than anybody that works on the floor (I worked in the office and it made me very uncomfortable) they will hire you saying they want their employees to be long standing and succeed but in reality, they will fire you without any warning or notice

i love my job at york care centre. the staff are all wonderful. from the house keeping, kitchen and support staff to the care staff right up to the office.

Work every weekend, with one off a month, hard to take vacation time unless you have been a long time employee.  Very stressful, work short most of the time. Hard to get a permanent position, you have to work years casual before the opportunity comes up. No management support, they just don’t care

I had a very positive experience. There was a strong sense of teamwork, and the staff truly care about the residents + their happiness. It was a lot of fun planning events and special activities for the residents.

Nasty co-workers,who are allowed free reign by management to bully newer workers. If you speak up,you're targeted even more. Favoritism is rampant in scheduling and benefits/paid vacation and weekends off.

residents were great, however some staff were more difficult to get along with/didn't want to help when needed. A major con was having to work in 4 separate units, it was difficult to get to know residents if you did not see them often/kept getting moved around. 

After retiring with an excellent work background retired on good terms.   When I reapplied to work part time as a resident attendant they refused me after working there for 15 years    Excellent worker
