First off, don't expect any sort of work-life balance here. It's like a never-ending circus, with noise levels that could drown out a rock concert. Trying to focus? Good luck with that.

And let's talk about management. Yeah, they're pretty much MIA most of the time. It's like they've got their own world going on and don't give a darn about what's happening on the ground. And don't get me started on the higher-ups - they're even worse. No empathy, no understanding.

Oh, and the cherry on top? The pay sucks. Seriously, it's a joke. You'll work your butt off and barely scrape by. No wonder people are jumping ship left and right.



Oh, and one more thing, their social media might look awesome, but don't be fooled. It's all smoke and mirrors. If you're planning on finding another job, it might work, because outsiders don't know how bad it is on the inside.

So, if you're still thinking about joining York1, just know what you're getting into. The vibe here is far from chill, management is clueless, and the pay is a slap in the face. Think twice before diving in.

I have been working at York1 for the past few months and have found it to be a great company to work for. From the very beginning, I was impressed with the company culture and the supportive environment that they provide for their employees.

I have joined the team of YORK1 waste management about 4 months ago and I'm very happy I did so. YORK1 is a wonderful company to work for! The management truly cares about each individual, they treat you like a person, not an employee but are still very professional. As a mom of the toddler life gets pretty challenging and I have the best support that way from my supervisors. I have not once had any problem or concern to deal with. There are also definitely many future opportunities to grow in the company and discover your potential with their support and guidance. 
Plus  I get a nice benefits for myself and my family. Some paid lunches, paid groceries in the office. Cash back when shopping for certain stores, amazing community with monthly events and programs and much more.



They don’t care about the conditions of their trucks. They send you out knowing you’ll break down. They put your truck in the shop and send you home instead of putting you in another truck that works. They pay everyone a different wage even though they have the same skills. Moral is low, management plays favourites. They only care about getting a truck on site so they can bill the client. Bonus if a broken truck makes a one day job take two days. Hard working employees are taken for granted while the favourites work daily. Skip it if you’re looking for a stable job. They don’t care about their drivers

York1 was an experience. There are some amazing people who work their tails off, but they are never appreciated by management. Many people are taken advantage of and management has no direction or leadership. They pretend to allow groups and departments to be self-managed, but then they micromanage and don't support. So many great people have left that there isn't much positive left there. If you happen to be a company they are looking to acquire...watch out. They will systematically dismantle the organization, oftentimes blaming changes and problems on the OG employees. It's tough. 

u will never know where or what u will be doing but u better be prepared for anything and everything. learn how to keep ur mouth shut and know if u speak up, there will be consequences  . Certain Foreman are great to work with and then some can’t communicate properly or don’t handle the job of maintaining a professional relationship with co-workers which lends to tension and an uncomfortable workplace. I will say there are great people that work for this company and overall I was happy at work.

If you are looking for a place to grow, then this is the place for you! York1 is constantly growing and acquiring new businesses. If there isn't a place for you yet, there very well could be in the near future. Roles are created and people are promoted within the company based on their strengths. They are very invested in their people and have really good benefits. They really want their employees to improve and invest in those who are motivated to grow.

There’s not much stress at all if anything the day to day traffic

It’s laid back but when it’s time to work we work. Everyone is together on same page.

Drive to site work our butts off be safe and go home.

The work environment at York1 is very motivating and inclusive. I have been working with the Health & Safety team for 3 months, and the only thing I can say about them is that everyone have been so kind and understanding. This workplace has given me such a positive outlook on how health and safety is and how a growing team should look like.
