Youth For Christ

A typical day included making supper for the youth and participating in activties with them. Management was okay, when staff would ask for solutions the only solution ever given was to lessen or take away internet/tv/media time. When staff want to work their way up they say that they support that, but I did not feel supported. They also say they support mental health  but when you take a day off they aren't happy about it. They will let people go claiming that they aren't a good fit but won't give a reason as to why and say it is within the probation period so they terminate without cause. The hardest part of the job was no real consequences for the youth. Most enjoyable parts were the co-workers and developing working relationships with the youth. I have learned that if a place says that they support the mental health of their staff they typically don't actaully mean it. Burn out in this profession is very high due to the lack of support. They have on the job training but when you are trained by someone that has not been there for a year or more you do not get trained properly in the policies and procedures.

Working at YFC is like stepping into a very conservative church and camp all in one. You spend most of your time planning, and trying to organize. But never succeed. Everything has to be reviewed by everyone and usually you just have be okay with scrapping every idea. 
If you have issues, like addition and stuff, they will REQUIRE you to be 100% sober while working there. There’s so many rules to just work there. Nice people, but I think we need a youth drop in ran by people who have very similar experiences in life like the kids. The ideas behind it are good intentions, but lack life experience.

Highly unprofessional. They fire with no reason nor warning. 5 days into the shifts after I resigned officially from a former work place, I was let go with no explanation. Claiming it was a probation period. Since I resigned, no EI. And they are aware I resigned from a 2 years employment position to work with them. The only thing that might make it worth it is the kids. Caring and catering for them

This company has no on the job training of any position with in the workplace.  if you mass up they let you go with no explanation ,or how you could of avoided or done better . would not recommend this job to others. sorry had to be truthful. other then Management the job and worker's are amazing people to work with.

Youth For Christ - also known as "The Door" - is an excellent place that allows for youth to have a fun and safe environment to spend their spare time at. They offer multiple different volunteer programs, and all of the staff are very friendly.

This program was intended to assist youth with many aspects of life's journey from youth into adulthood.  It would consist of anything from teaching budgeting to job search and job preservation.

Youth for Christ and I have had a relationship for almost a decade. They have helped me develop my relationship building skills and have always been there whenever I needed.

I enjoy the presence of the people and the participants and the experience contributed significantly to the development of my leadership and communication skills.

This organization provides staff with an opportunity to work in their area of skill or gifting. Working in the community to impact youth.

Great place to work. lots of fun friendly staff. Christ centered. The kids there are really fun. great atmosphere low stress job that feels very rewarding.
