What is the best part of working at the company?
The people who work there really believe in helping youth. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The HR department is stuck in the past. HR is rigid and difficult to deal with; there is difficulty with accepting change, taking responsibility for all functions HR and getting the HR department up to speed on best practices. Everything takes longer than it should because the Director of HR only works 3 days a week, therefore consistently holding up decision making.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There are silos from one team to the next. The Directors are at odds with one another, believing that others are to do their work, therefore creating an unhealthy culture to work in. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Extremely busy, sometimes don't even get a lunch.

Youthlink was an overall good experience.
Pros:
Great benefits
Over 15 days paid sick/time,if your manager doesn't give you a hard time using them
Over 3 weeks vacation 
3 agency days and bereavement time
Unionized workplace that can become handy and very supportive when needed
Staff is overall friendly 

Cons:
No room for advancement 
Salary is enough for basic needs but they could do better
Lack of understanding from some managers
It can become a toxic work environment at times 
Lack of recognition for long-term staff
Always hiring new managers with great paid and not enough Unionized staff 


There is not much to really speak on when it comes to this organization, except for unjustly, unfair, no advocating for staff, no job security. I could probably write a couple paragraphs, but I will leave it at that. 

A very easy laid back job position, convenient location, nothing hard about this job. If you are familiar with the field.

Advice for any good job in this field would be go to work do your job and go home. Remember your professional boundaries and you are not there to make friends.

Terrible management, impractical workload, lack of boundaries in upper management positions

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic culture. Between staff, between managers. Lack of professionalism

The opportunities for succession are one of YouthLink's strengths.  The hardest part of the role is managing the many hats that you wear.  From the agency management team to the program's leadership team the responsibilities that managers assume at YouthLink require a high level of professionalism and organization.

Co-workers are wonderful and the new leadership is truly moving the org in the right direction.  Some vacancies that are very worrying but it seems to be everywhere and all teams are a little stressed.  Culture is good but pay is not where it should be yet, although that is changing.

I loved working as a mentor at YouthLink. It was a fun place to work at, learnt how to handle a group of young kids by playing games with them. Building friendships and many other skills as well.

There is great opportunity to build great relationships with clients and co-workers. The home is busy and there is always something to do surrounding running the home, maintaining a positive atmosphere and creating and running programming.

Under new management. Headed in the right direction, but definitely dealing with some growing pains. Onboarding definitely needs to be better. The pay is fair and they definitely support a good work life balance.
